His job is to literally lounge by the pool all day long.  How stressful could it be? 10 more years he says....

Not sure if you're being serious or sarcastic, but I'll take the bait on this just in case you're serious. Being a D1 college swim coach is an extremely stressful job. There's a significant amount of science that goes into creating a swimming training program, and the catch is there's no such thing as a "one-size fits all" program for college swimmers (especially males). You've got to plan out the entire year in advance in terms of how quickly you ramp up to your most intense training period, then how long you stay at that intense period, and then how quickly you back off the intensity as you head into the big meets. Then you have to take that plan and tweak it slightly for 30ish individuals every single year. It takes a special mind to be able to put all of that together and coach a successful team, and once you reach the level where you're expected to deliver national championships on a regular basis (i.e. Bowman at Texas), the stress levels are very high.

Called it. Quinn returns, Manning a #2 who will get a ton of snaps next season.

Plus Bama weakened. Maybe UT and it's woulda/shoulda now wise to the world coach plow thru SEC with one-two punch at QB, ranked in top five entire season, rolls into Playoffs and wins National Championship. Easy Capezy.

Can you say the new "America's Team"?

We will never be America’s team. If all those things you mentioned come to fruition (which I believe they will), we will be despised by the entire country. But I’m here for it. Embrace the hate baby!

This play has been nitpicked to death.  Quinn throws the ball to spot where he thinks Mitchell is going.  Mitchell  decides to turn his body to the left almost making a 360 degree turn, despite the ball being throw to his right shoulder.  The DB is squared up and in much better position to react/jump for the ball than Mitchell. So Mitchell is turning his body (the wrong way) to square up to try and make the catch and doesn't have time to get in a good position to jump for the ball.  The DB was in a better position when the ball arrived and made a good play, bottom line. Nothing wrong with the throw under the circumstances, imo.

To me, it really looks like AD was not expecting the ball to be thrown his way. The way he turned looked like an "oh shit!" moment where he just panicked and reacted too late to the ball.

I love the icy whites, but why would we not be the home team in this game? We are the number 1 seed.

Number 1 seed gets to choose what jerseys they wear, and I'm assuming we chose white because of the success we've had in those jerseys this year (and past years for that matter). Remember back in '18 when OU was the one seed; they chose to wear those ugly ass cream colored alternate uniforms instead of their home jerseys because they didn't want us to be able to wear the Storm Troopers.

    FSU has to lose.

This is false. The committee already set precedent in 2018 when they left undefeated UCF out of the playoff after McKenzie Milton tore his ACL in the final regular season game. I think they'll do the same to FSU this year.

if we didn’t have to wait several years for this to come to fruition i absolutely would bet money on this. jordan whittington is going to make an nfl team and he’s going to play. whether his biggest role is on special teams or as a receiver, we’ll see.

quinn ewers is not going to play in the nfl. not for any meaningful time at least.  he will never be a starting QB, and he certainly does not have what NFL teams want in a backup- smart, calm, accurate, knows the offense, etc.

it is absolutely baffling that any of you can watch QE play and think that you’re watching a future NFL qb.

Being this certain that QE won’t have a meaningful NFL career is just about as stupid as being certain that he will be a hall of famer. The truth is, none of us has seen a large enough sample size to know for sure what he’s going to do at the next level.

bulletin board material is cool, just hoping someone on the team is mad enough to do something about it.

I’d honestly be completely fine with it if Sweat makes sure he gets an unnecessary roughness penalty on the first play against that douche bag.

In order to get MM comfortable. T the first  play from scrimmage has to be a deep ball to worthy for a td

I could honestly see this happening. Everyone, including BYU, is expecting Sark to come out with a run-heavy to protect MM in his first start. I'd love to see him draw up a cool play-action deep ball for the first play.

  9. I'm too lazy to make a complete list, but throughout our last 15 years of misery there have been many teams that were successful even with their backup quarterback on the field. We lost quite a few games to backup QBs, and we've even seen teams win National Championships with backup QBs (Ohio State and Bama). So here's how I see it: Our head coach is apparently "The QB Whisperer", and our backup QB is a guy that's been on campus and learning from this "QB Whisperer" for almost two full calendar years (Maalik enrolled in January 2022). If we can't successfully navigate this situation and win at least 4 out of the next 5 games against BYU, KState, TCU, Iowa St, and TTU (all of whom are having down years), then Sark is not the answer and the sad reality is that we will probably never be a relevant football program ever again. Yes, I still want us to win out and get to the CCG, but I think 4 out of 5 is the realistic bar considering that would give us our first 10-win season since we fired Mack. I'm not happy Quinn got hurt, but I'm at least somewhat excited to see what we really have in Sark as far as quarterback development is concerned. Our remaining schedule is soft as baby shit, so if he is as advertised we're going to be just fine.

Maalik is likely the 3rd most athletic QB on the roster. There is no evidence he has the strength and athleticism to convert those short yardage situations.

And lol that play against Bama was not a trick play. That was us trying to do the tush push. Quinn fumbled the snap which is probably why we haven’t tried it since.

Malik is also by far the biggest skill player on our team. You don’t have to be athletic to be good at a QB sneak, but it certainly helps to be bigger than 6’1”, 195 lbs. Look up Tom Brady’s stats if you don’t believe me.

Also, you’ll never convince me the play against Bama wasn’t a trick play. JT stopped behind Quinn and put his hands up under Quinn’s ass like a QB does under center. Quinn also dove forward without even attempting to grab the ball off the center’s hands. I don’t have personal knowledge of the play design/call, but I watched the slow motion replay enough times to be convinced that was a trick play.

  11. One thing I’d love to see in the second half of the season is a better package for short yardage situations. The QB sneak is the one of the best plays for those situations, but I can understand why we’re not eager to do it with a 195 pound quarterback. I’d love to see us run Malik out to take those snaps, and I think we could have a very successful “tush push” formation (even though I hate that name) with our big bodies. Plus opposing defenses would always have to respect the possibility that we could roll Malik out of that formation for an RPO. Either that, or I’d love to see us try that trick play we tried against Bama (snap the ball through Quinn’s legs to Sanders). Our inability to move the ball 1 yard on 4 tries was obviously a glaring reason we lost to OU, so I think it’s likely Sark will draw up something new for those situations in the second half of the season.

    This is texags grade copium.

I knew not everyone would agree with me, but damn that stings. I stand by what I said, though. I'll just clarify one thing: I didn't go into the game hoping we'd lose. I just meant after all the weaknesses that were exposed throughout the game, I'm glad we're forced to focus on those issues and find a way to fix them. If we run the table including a rematch victory in the Big 12 title game, there's no way we won't collectively look back and think of the loss as a net positive on the season. In addition to our weaknesses that were exposed, look at all of the bulletin board material we've gotten from OU since the game ended (Texas fears OU shirts, etc.). Maybe I'm wrong and the loss will derail our season, but I'm still optimistic that it'll fortify the team and lead to a butt fucking in the rematch. We'll find out soon enough if I'm right.
