I'm just glad that OU will have plenty of media hype to deflect from our own.

You know Sam is loving the disrespect too.

This is a really good point I hadn't thought of before. Herman/Ehlinger have thrived so far in the underdog role, so might as well keep it rolling.

Casey confirmed he’s removing his name from the transfer portal & returning to Texas.

The greatest part of this is Mack's commentary starting at the 0:32 mark.

Even without Fields, he's probably not going to tOSU because of Martell. Hurts #1 consideration is a wide open starting spot, which makes TCU and OU (if Kyler leaves), very likely destinations.

Well apparently now Martell is in the portal. So Hurts starts at tOSU next year, and then Fields the next?

Saban keeps his players focused on their assignments.  He keeps them even keel.  Smart isn't as good with that.  He has an assistant hold his belt to keep him from running on the field and getting a penalty.  UGA was pretty inconsistent under Richt.  Its still somewhat so under Smart.  They just aren't so inconsistent as to lose to the bad teams anymore.  Also this UGA team lost a lot and is pretty young.  Lots of talent, but young.  They may finally dethrone Alabama next year if he can keep them from being so cocky.

I'm thinking we took care of that part for him.

The University should do something special for draft worthy players that come back for their senior year.  If they already do, I don’t know about it, so we should do something better.

Give em each another F-250 to add to the garage?

I was a regular poster on the Shag, but I've only been lurking ever since the domain change. I had an epiphany about our bowl scenario yesterday that was too good not to break my Surly silence...

First, we mudhole the gooners this Saturday 45-35.

Next, we play Georgia in the Sugar Bowl and win a close one.

Next, Sam is asked in the post game interview: "You know the National Championship game is here next year, would you like to come back to New Orleans?". To which he promptly responds "Yes sir, we'll be baaaaack!!".

    Profit.

I had to come back to this thread and quote myself to point out how incredibly close I came to predicting the bolded portion. Solid first post, indeed.

Corner inexperience may be acutely felt against LSU. Week two and some speedy WRs. I think our DL and LB will be a relative strength, though, as will S play.

Another thing that sucks, that I haven't seen mentioned yet, is the fact that Cook has to sit out the first half of the La Tech game.

Would any of you take winning the Sugar, and in the process confirming Texas is Back, SEC is overrated, ESPN is biased, aggy is no better than their big 12 days, and all that is good from winning that game...

If it meant OU winning the title and Murray winning the Heisman? Just want to get a feel for win-win versus lose-lose mentality on the boards right now.

Obviously one is not dependent on the other, just a hypothetical deal with the devil.

    Without a doubt.

Penalties took away only 1 TD. Johnson dropped the ball immediately after he hit the ground, but the ref didn’t have the angle to see it even though the OU DB’s were pointing to it as it rolled away from everyone. The ref with the better angle came in and waved it off. Still a bullshit call but it wasn’t going to be a TD.

Plus we were also flagged for illegal shift on that play. So even if the OPI wasn't called, and even if CJ caught it... still no TD.

Let's say the above happens and we stomp ou. Who would our Sugar Bowl opponent be? Florida? Kentucky?

The SEC confirmed yesterday they will send their highest ranked, non-playoff, team to the Sugar Bowl, so it will be Florida.

It definitely means more to Sam than the Kansas game did, but I think it's naive to think it doesn't mean just as much to  Murray.  We've already played up to our expectations this year.  This whole board was thinking we'd be 8-4 and that it'd be gravy if we played for a championship.  Murray has bigger goals right now for their season and reaching them depends on this game alone.  He's also got the revenge factor for added motivation.

I'm not saying any of that gives them an advantage but I do believe they all want the win just as much as our guys do.  Our hatred for them is a two-way street.

Valid points. I didn't mean to imply that the game means nothing to Kyler, I just think deep down it means more to Sam. Sam grew up a Texas fan which means he has spent his whole life dreaming about beating OU in a Texas uniform. Kyler grew up a Texas A&M fan who at one point considered playing for Texas, and now has a lucrative baseball career waiting for him regardless of what happens the rest of this football season. Kyler will still be up for this game, I just think I'd give the nod to Sam when it comes down to who really wants it more.

  12. I fully believe what Herman said in his presser yesterday: "I have a feeling it's going to bother him a lot less in the Big 12 Championship game than it did in Kansas". We would all like to think that our players were 100% hyped for that game last week, but the reality is they just weren't. Sam, and the rest of our players, will experience another level of adrenaline this week that they just simply didn't feel in an 80% empty stadium on a cold, windy day. The human body can do amazing things with the assistance of adrenaline, so I am confident we'll see Sam go off this week. This game means more to Sam than it does to Kyler, and I truly believe that will play a tangible role in this game. Ok, cool. Hook 'em.
