What is the word on Hudson Card?

I'm hoping that was just a "designated survivor" type of situation. Leave 1 QB at home with a plane waiting on standby just in case Sam and/or Casey tested positive after traveling on the team plane?

Didn’t this story turn out to be wildly misleading but was spread by the likes of Clay Travis, Ben Shapiro and Fox News and you bought it hook, line and sinker?

I live in Nashville, so I'm pretty well-informed with what happened. This whole thing is essentially the same thing that happened with the CDC story that went viral a few weeks ago. The one where many headlines read "CDC just quietly updated their statistics..." when in reality those statistics had been publicly available for months. In this Nashville story, the local Fox affiliate ran a story last week showing emails between the Mayor's office and the Health Department from earlier this summer in which they discussed hiding data that proved local bars and restaurants were NOT responsible for a significant number of COVID cases. This obviously upset the hundreds (maybe thousands) of restaurant/bar owners that still aren't allowed to open to full capacity, and it caused the story to go national. Well, the problem with the local Fox story is that the Mayor's office did end up releasing that data a few days after those emails earlier this summer. So, the data that the local Fox station shared is real, and the emails about hiding that data were real, but the fact that the data is still currently being hidden is the part that was incorrect.

No, unless you're purposely trying to exhale harder through it.  The resting breathing pattern in the average human adult sees much more dispersal/spit droplets through mouth breathing than nasal breathing (on the exhale at least, not sure about inhale in terms of volume of air consumed).  Unless of course you've just done two lines of blow consecutively, in which case---all bets are off.  Plus, it's not exactly a pandemic saver, but again---just physics...the exhale from your nose goes more down than out (though certainly outward as well).

Bottom line when air comes out  (nose, mouth, or otherwise) from the fat faces of Americans......it goes far out and stays out for awhile.  Your question is a good one and I hope someone here can speak to specific bio-physics.  What I hope doesn't happen though is a tens of millions of Americans start using as their excuse for not wearing a mask, "I only breathe with my nose"...because those people are mouthbreathers usually...in every sense of the term.

And I'll be the first pro-mask disciple to admit that when I wear my mask, I breathe more through my mouth than I do with my nose.  No mask, I'm a 90% nose breather (I've had to get tested for respiratory shit).  With my mask (haven't had the same tests obviously, kind of a waste during these times), I'm probably a 75% mouth breather.  Don't know why that is, maybe because my mask smells like female reproductive parts for some reason and I really need to talk to that flea market I get my medical supplies from

So what you're saying is; mouth breathers are going to kill us all? Just another reason to avoid College Station.

Fixed.  Looking back, I still can't believe how we all ate up the hype for that clown as the University of Fucking Texas Head Fucking Football Coach.  The guy had one good year at Houston (which included a head scratcher loss).  ONE.  And that was enough for us to trip over our dicks to hire the guy for a shit ton of money.  Between Charlie sucking, LSU swirling and apparently not too many other options available, we were so fucking desperate.

Anyway, back on topic.  I think everyone needs to prepare to be stunned and pissed once these swing for the fences coordinators don't pan out and we're settling for prospects who may or may not be lateral moves from what we had.  This feels to me like the Sterlin Gilbert situation 2.0.  Wanted a bunch of big swinging dick names, back up the brinks trucks to get them, yada yada yada...aaaaaaand settle for the confident young prospect from Tulsa (and barely pull even that off).  Rinse and repeat.

To be fair, though: our offense was pretty freaking legit under Gilbert. I'd take him back in a heartbeat. Imagine how many yards Bijan would have in that offense.

This is what scares me the most.

Texas can become bowl eligible with a win this week so we'll have that extra motivation on our side.

ps: sarcasm aside, I agree with Tex Pete

The crazy thing is: just two seasons ago we were battling for bowl eligibility in late November, and just 3 seasons ago we didn't even make a bowl. Like much of the fan base, I'm still not completely satisfied with where we're at as a program, but those two stats put things into perspective a little bit.

Our receivers had an extremely tough time getting open.  Some of that was their own fault, some was not.  If KU defenders are allowed to commit DPI as freely as OU defenders were, we're definitely in trouble.

Honest request here: can anyone provide any video and/or GIF examples of DPI that went uncalled? Since I wasn't at the game, I had limited view of what was going on away from the ball, so I never really saw any uncalled DPI. Was this actually happening? Or are we just saying it because we lost?

    Where are explosive plays??

If WRs can't get off press coverage, it's time to add motion to offense, bunch sets with rub routes.

Where is the creativity on offense?  How bout running some verticals with Duvernay, Jake, Burt and Eagles on 1st down plays before pass rush is pinning their ears back in 3rd and long.  What about passes to RBs including screens??

To be fair, I can think of 3 plays just off the top of my head that were incredibly close to being explosive. I know close doesn't count, but I still think it's worth mentioning:

    1. Halfway through the third quarter, down 17-10, we had a 1st & 10 from our own 5. Sam threw an absolute dime to CJ who was breaking free across the middle 15 yards downfield. An incredibly uncharacteristic drop by CJ prevented at least a 20-30 yard gain, maybe even a 95 yard touchdown. Gus and Joel even agreed CJ probably could have scored if he caught it.
    2. The very next play: Sam threw another absolutely perfect ball to Eagles who was streaking down the field at our own 40. Eagles let the ball bounce off his hands, but he likely would have scored if he had held onto it. We ended up punting on that drive after being "that" close to a touchdown on back to back plays.
    3. With 9 minutes left in the game, down 27-17, we had 1st & 10 on OU's 37. Sam threw yet another beautiful ball to DD in the endzone which likely would have been caught for a touchdown if not for a pretty bad DPI by OU. This ended up being a really smart penalty by OU, because we ended up only getting a FG on that drive. The most interesting thing about this play was, as the offense was hurrying to the line before the play, the camera zoomed in on Sam and he looked like he was pleading with Herman for that specific play call. Did anyone else catch that?

As I said before, "almost" having explosive plays is not as good as having explosive plays. However, I think it's worth noting how close we were to 3 explosive, and potentially game changing plays, but just barely missed out on them. And that's just me thinking off the top of my head without re-watching the game. I'm sure there were more that I'm forgetting.

Yeah because that 52-6 opener against USC as a freshman and 24-7 opener against a 7-6 FSU is "better competition"

My wife is a Bama grad, so I watched a lot of Jalen's Bama games with her. I distinctly remember how much better he was at home. With a quieter crowd, he was able to receive audible calls at the line of scrimmage from Lane Kiffin on the sideline more easily than he could when he was in front of a hostile crowd.

Put a spy on Hurts / randomly blitz from OU offense's right side / otherwise play like you've been playing / Horns win straight up, going away.  Check highlights of 2017 Bama at Auboogers.  Hurts was hapless; got so rattled at crunch time he rolled out backwards and ran out of bounds for a ten yard loss on 3d down and NEVER EVEN THREW THE BALL AWAY, leaving us at 4th and 20.  He's poised until he's rattled.  There's your game.  I'm saying Horns by 13.

This. The funniest thing about Hurts's "I played in the Iron Bowl, I think I'll be fine" quote is the fact that he only played in an Iron Bowl in front of a hostile crowd one time (2017), and that... didn't go well. 12/22 passing for 112 yards, 1TD/O Int. 18 carries, 82 yards rushing, 0 TD. Bama lost 26-14. But yea Jalen, I'm sure you'll be fine. The Cotton Bowl will be nice and quiet while you're on the field.
