Just try to say an SEC team does that and gets excluded from the playoff.  Try typing it and see how that argument looks.

I would say that, depending on the SEC team, that would probably get in the playoffs. Surely you can agree that squeaking in as a top-12 team is vastly different than "one of the most dominant 10-game stretches in CFB history", no? Please tell me that you aren't trying to defend that quote.

Jesus Christ, let me slow it down for some of y'all.

Any team in the SEC can lose two conference games and get in.  It doesn't matter which two conference games.  That's exactly what we did.

You realize Vanderbilt is a SEC team with two conference losses and literally nobody thinks they should be in the playoffs. Certainly their conference schedule is worse than ours but we should be aware that there are situations where a good OOC win would be a difference maker.

I believe the implication is that it is not just the Gaza-promoting source you linked to. To put it another way, every conservative site I've seen is loudly broadcasting "Look at all these liberal woke accounts that are fake" and every liberal site I've seen is loudly broadcasting "Look at all these magat racist accounts that are fake".

The Washington Post published an unironically self-aware article today and was fittingly called out by one of their former columnists who departed due to the Post's fascist-remake and business downturn

if you want to read the article https://www.washingtonpost.com/entertainment/2025/10/31/kennedy-center-sales/

I don't know that I would call it self-aware because the Post doesn't exist as a money-making enterprise. it is just a combination of vanity project and way to suck up to Trump. Bezos doesn't give a solitary shake about the impact on Post's subscriptions / ad-selling.

I also have YTTV just to watch sports, I renew in the fall for College Football and drop in January. Dumb question here - I understand the many options for pirating live games, are there any site that let you watch recorded games? I have a commitment tomorrow morning (west coast) so was going to watch the Texas game when I got home. Obviously not an option on YTTV now, am I just screwed for watching the game?

They only have to kill the filibuster for this one thing right?  Not entirely?

Correct. In a post earlier today I said the Republicans did this earlier this month but it was in September. They voted on party lines to change the rules for senate appointment confirmations. There is nothing stopping them from doing this for the budget, except of course not wanting to face any consequences from their fucked-over constituents.

Democrats need to make it clear that there's nothing stopping the Republicans from opening the government with the bill they want to force the Dems to accept.  They can remove the filibuster rule now and reopen government without a single Democratic vote.  That they haven't been shouting this from the rooftops is dumbfounding to me.

Republicans could also accept what the Democrats have presented and reopen the government, but that would require several senators to flip votes as well as a dozen or so House members.

Dumbfounding is the perfect word. They don't even have to point to a previous year. Earlier in this freaking month the Republicans in the senate passed senate appointments with only 51 votes by changing senate rules to avoid the filibuster. I sort of get that Jeffries and Schumer are avoiding this because they are gutless and spineless pussies but where is literally any other Dem on this?

Maybe I've been too busy to notice. Have a bunch of Republicans been pushing back on these tactics? Are they doing so loudly and unequivocally? If so, that's great!

    yes.

I know we're all supposed to just shut the fuck up but have you gotten around to listing any Republicans that are pushing back on this? Bonus points if these Republicans have literally any influence in this admin.

Good analysis of the Antifa as DTO designation.  https://www.lawfaremedia.org/article/you-can-t-designate--antifa--banks-and-platforms-will-act-like-you-did-anyway

Tl;Dr, legally it has about zero effect.  In terms of chilling certain activity, including by banks, the effect could be rather serious.  But mostly depends on the courage of those it intends to target.

Yes, surely the court system will save us THIS time.

This is interesting. The plan is also endorsed by the Palestinian Authority. So, pretty much everyone besides Hamas and Iran. You'd think the people wailing about “genocide” would be welcoming a stop to all of this. I can’t believe this thread went quiet. Fascinating.

I have not looked into this plan but fuck off with your "wailing about genocide" comment. Peace would be great, but that would not undo the massive harm that has been done to the Palestinian people.

Aside from the general trend of US healthcare getting more expensive for everyone, we were told a major factor is the rise in high-cost claimants over the past couple years.  We have 500 or so people in the US, so I could understand how it only takes a handful of high-cost people to drive things up.  For example, a colleague spent the past ~18 months fighting stage 4 brain cancer.  I'm going to his memorial this week.

So that means surely premiums are going to go back down next year right?

If you're being serious, you have my pity.

Was not laughing at you, just the uneeded and very detailed caption. I will still accept your pity.
