Marvin Lewis is the only other coach I can think of that gets more of a pass from his owner than Garrett. Neither have did shit yet still are still employed with their original team as head coach. I don't get it and both fanbases are fed up with each respectively.

This team has shown it can win in spite of Garrett in 2014 and 2016. It will just take a very efficient offense. They have the pieces to do it. And no, this OL is not banged up. One guy is out with a disease illness. We have a competent backup (much better than Chaz replacing Tyron). The rest of our starters are good to go on the OL. No excuses from the offense this year.

Garrett has reached higher heights in terms of peak regular season performances and fielding a team that seemed championship worthy,  however Lewis has gotten to the playoffs a lot more frequently and has had to deal with an all-time garbage organization in terms of scouting and front office departments. Not sure you can say one one is clearly better than the other.

Herman has proved that national recruiting for The University of Texas is doable. Swinney's recruiting classes at Clemson have not been appreciably better by any reasonable definition. It just takes, you know.... coaching. That's what has been missing.

Not all recruiting rankings are the same. Our high recruiting rankings over the past few years have mostly been due to highly ranked WRs, DBs, & LBs while Swinney's high level recruiting rankings have been based in the defensive trenches and WRs. Difference makers in the trenches don't need anything else to help them maximize their talent. Just add food and water. All of our highly ranked personnel like WRs and DBs require some other component on the team to help them be great.

You are falling for the shitty attitude and words. Tom Herman is fucking lost right now. Our offense is fucked.

Charlie knew he had shit at OL and QB and he tried to avoid talking about it.

I'm really pissed that we didn't give the veer and shot a 2nd year to get rolling. We would have been much better last year and this year. It masks offensive player deficiencies that we have and makes the run game much easier.

But we lost to Kansas, so I get it.

I want us to run a real smashmouth spread if we're gonna run it. I don't know wtf we're running now.

Yeah I prefer an aggressive run scheme out of the spread instead of the hesitant, read and react stuff we seem to be trying to employ. Part of the reason you rarely see blue blood teams run the spread in this soft ass manner is because it goes against the instincts of the big mammoths blue bloods typically have on their Oline. The deceptive, draw and delay run scheme is a necessary evil for teams without the Oline talent to just maul their opponents.

Football coaches are professionals. It is legitimate for us to hold them accountable for their performance.

Tom failed to have the team ready to play yesterday. Many people questioned his hiring of Tim Beck when it was first announced. I’m not seeing any development as a professional from Tim Beck. I’m not seeing much from Tom Herman when it comes to making adjustments to deal with glaring problems within the program. And it is absurd to claim Hermsn is being hindered by lack of resources, be those resources talent, time or money.

We were told Herman needed Beck in order to win. We were told to hold our noses over the hiring of Horny because Herman needed him to win. We were told to hold our noses over the recruitment of Leitao because Herman needed him to win.

If a professor showed up unprepared for class or without any plan for the semester, we would rightfully complain that the students weren’t being well served. Outside of academia, we wouldn’t tolerate an attorney, doctor, pilot, or any other professional showing up unprepared and without a plan of how to accomplish their assigned task. We sure wouldn’t tolerate them being an asshole when asked to account for their repeated failures.

Herman has been getting a pass for a lot of failures and questionable decisions. Things need to turn around very soon. He is pretty much out of free passes.

Not to mention that a big supposed positive of the Beck hire was his supposed recruiting ties to the Metroplex, a region of the state where we're currently getting our ass handed to us in recruiting.

  5. If the Oline is going to protect this well all season then Shane needs to get a chance under center. Especially if Sam isn't going to use his legs when he loads of space in front of him.

I've watched the show.  It really didn't know what it wanted to be, Sports highlight show.  Analysis of the topics of the day.  OTL in the morning?  Beadle and Greenburg never made any sense.  They tread the same water except she does it better than him.  He's really a lightweight and needs a breezy type situation to be..... a company man and sort of bland.  He's a straight man.  The show is really weird.  Jalen's a nice guy but he doesn't make any sense on the show.  Just a strange mix and really poor concept for a show..... Skipper ends up looking like a total failure in this.  Apparently Beadle never wanted to do the show, she learned to really love the WC, but Skipper kept throwing money at here to the point she had no choice.... now she gets to go back and is apparently going to do a new NBA show so she gets the money, a new show revolving around her and a couple of ex-NBA'ers, and go home.

The new show will revolve around Greenburg and get more football centric.  It will also be truncated by an hour.  It will probably fail.....

I agree about Beadle being better for this show or things of this nature in general over Greenie. They would've had a better chance if Beadle was the lead along with a crew that was a lot less straight than Greenie who could better bring out Michelle's funny. Regardless I don't think this Good Morning Sports Today or whatever format they're shooting for works for sports in general.  ESPNs main viewers (late adolescent and college aged dudes) aren't even up that early to begin with.

  7. My biggest issue with our running game last year was the scheme we chose to run with our personnel. I'm not technically savvy enough to detail the specifics, but it was obvious that we employed a lot more delay and hesitancy in our system last year compared to the power, hit the hole with speed stuff we did under Gilbert. I don't know enough to suss out the particulars between a power vs zone blocking system, but whatever they are it was clear that both our Oline and RB personnel was way better at the former than the latter, yet we insisted on doing what they weren't good at.

I think the poster that mentioned earlier how the people who get really fired up about the kneeling were already going to be turning out for Cruz because ® is correct. On that flip side, it will help him make a connection with the sizable black communities in Houston and Dallas and will really help with name recognition and exposure with younger voters see this go viral online.

I just don't think it is going to motivate a whole lot of Cruz voters that weren't already gonna be there, but provides an opportunity to make big gains. Helps more than hurts overall.

I don't trust this staff in that regard but c'mon. Warren wasn't a good player here in the games we saw. Young was a better RB. Carter was a better RB. You don't need to be Steve Spurrier to come to that conclusion.

This is all true wrt Young and Carter, but none of us fans became aware of this fact until over halfway through the season. Most of the complaints concerning the decision of utilizing Porter over Warrren had to do with the first half of the season. That shit was indefensible at the time.

  11. I don't think you know how recruiting works.
These type "catch phrases" and gimmicks work in recruiting. Something as simple as Carrington's "shusssh" in recruiting has had a positive impact on recruits. 17 and 18 year old kids remember dumb stuff like "this is Texas" "future19" and "there is no finish line".
I don't give a shit what Shaka tweets or says if it helps land recruits. Results need to happen but a coach selling "catch phrases" is part of recruiting. I actually think this is why Shaka is more active on twitter now. It's all recruiting related.
He was so inactive on twitter that he's not even verified yet.

Pierson's such a weasel, that I'm starting to believe that those stories about he fucking Cruz could be accurate.

Every time I see this chick on TV I'm fucking amazed. I think she's from Mesquite or Forney or some shit like that. I actually remember her from when she used to run around the Dallas night club scene in the late 90s and early 00s. To see her rise to her current state really is a testament to the fact that all things are possible in America. Truly, even the most vapid and least talented among us have no ceiling as to what they can achieve.
