there is a lot of overreaction from one game

Quite literally the ethos of this thread.

Maybe Miami just has their number?

Boston swept Miami in the regular season and is currently 1-1 in the playoffs w/ a 20pt blowout, but Miami just has the Celtics' number?

Miami matches up better vs Boston than anyone else in the East, but the scale tips Celtics over the past 3 seasons.  1 playoff series each (both 7 games), 7-3 Boston in the regular season.

We'll see how that goes.  As good as the food was when I went a couple of weeks back, their ordering process is all kinds of fucked up and backwards.  3 minute process takes 10 min easy.

  3. Finally got everything hung.  Overall, I'm so fucking stoked at how it came out.  It's nice when you envision something and it comes out on target.  Definitely grumpy about the top row spacing, as I fucked that up pretty badly, but I'll live w/ it.

Just went to Breed’s. Across the street it looked like Junior’s closed.

That may or may not be permanent.  New property owner is weighing options.

Have 3 college teammates ever been on the same NBA team?

Boston had at least 3 Kentucky Wildcats, and their coach, between and 97-98 and 99-00.  Antoine Walker, Walter McCarty and Ron Mercer.  Reggie Hanson was a 4th in 97-98.

  6. I haven't done deli meats from Randall's in years, but they used to have their own stuff plus the Primo Taglio.  I've purchased sliced roast beef from HEB twice in the last couple of months and was reminded why I preferred Randall's.

    One is one too many.

Then two is two too many.  Lived just outside of Boston for a bit in middle school when I discovered sports, and the Celtics were in their heyday.

Celtics should win the East, and I think they have the best chance to beat the Nuggets, but the Nuggets have to be favored in the Finals.

  8. Went to Mum's this week.  No pics - my bad.  Place itself is pretty kick ass, especially if you're into classic 60's/70's styling.  Was there Thursday at noon and there was no line, plenty of places to sit.  I had the Rachel sandwich - Rueben w/ slaw instead of sauerkraut.  Delicious.  We also had some brisket, pastrami and sausage.  Brisket was fantastic - I would go back just for that, and I'm not a huge brisket guy.  Sausage was some of the best in Austin I've had since JMMC, my all time favorite.  Pastrami was great as well, but I wouldn't order it by the pound again - prefer it in the sandwich.  If it were closer to me, I'd be a regular for sure.

Tiny parking lot, w/ less than optimal street parking nearby.

  9. Eh, it is what it is.  There's kites and strings in trees every year after kite fest.  There's confetti and cascarones after Easter.  There's beer bottles and to-go boxes pretty much every Monday.  I'm out there probably 4x/week with the dogs, so I see all the little changes day to day.  I'm much more upset w/ the incompetent park staff that can't figure out the irrigation or the cunts who don't pick up their dog's shit than I am w/ kites in trees.

  10. Paul Rabil is a recently retired player, and he was the Lebron James of lacrosse - 6'5" 240# and could do it all.  He's also the founder of the PLL and the face of the league office, although his brother is the CEO.

There's a couple on ebay, but there's something off about that deck - the shape isn't correct, imo.  It should be very wide at the front trucks, super narrow hips at the back trucks and a pronounced flair out for the tail.  If I move and get a bigger wall, maybe I'll add it to my collection, but for now, I'm out of room and I am done spending.  Just bought my final grail for $710 last week and spent a couple of days dry heaving and reconsidering my life/values.

Someone just put a bunch of decks they're going to sell in a gif and you can really see what I'm talking about with the shapes here.  The 2 on the right are what I expect for a Neil Blender deck.  The Faces deck just looks so blah shaped.

I'm not entirely certain as far as specific cause/effect, because I'm not in the room and I'm not going to dig in on her parents about what questions they're asking the doctors.  I'm not a doctor and I'm too far outside the loop to be taking what I say as fact, so grains of salt and all that.

She's been taking a compounded version of semaglutide for a while now, and about a month ago her belly distended like she was hiding a basketball and she was in terrible pain.  Called 911 just in time - she flatlined 3x in the 36 hours after the call.  Both her kidneys and liver had shut down, she had 2L of fluid drained from her abdomen, and they discovered a heart ailment (tricuspid valve issue?) that is likely unrelated, and was there but undetected previously.  She was touch-and-go for the first week, but has stabilized and is recovering, albeit slowly.  Her kidneys are coming back but her liver is not responding and last I heard they were talking about a transplant.

I'll say this:  Her stubbornness played a HUGE part in this.  She had been feeling poorly for a week+ before that final day when she made the call to 911.  If she would have just gone to the doctor, I'd hope they'd have seen what was going on and helped her before she was so far gone.  She didn't even want to go that day - she was going to make an appointment for the next day when her father told her to hang up the phone w/ him and call 911 immediately or she was going to die (he's an MD).

Finally got to visit my friend and got some clarity on cause:  NOT semaglutide related.  She had stopped the semaglutide several months previous.  This was a result of a thyroid issue.
