    Do you live in Napa?

If you can believe it, Greensboro, Georgia. We were golfing at Great Waters, and not looking for bourbon, well, not for collecting.

  2. I have had success finding both Blanton’s and E. H. Taylor (full proof and single batch) over the last two weeks.
One place had the Blanton’s sitting on the shelf. Something I haven’t seen in a long time.

    Anyone else experiencing this?

Evidently my weekend post didn't work so well.  Let me try again:

    That’s what I’m talking about!

Hey, I dig that modern equipment is technically better. But, there is something special about listening to a broadcast over such a radio. I’m sure it has to do with nostalgia on my part…

Wow, that is a much nicer than mine. A little before my time though. Most people have no idea of their history.

I have a JT4 (55?). I got mine while we were stationed in Kegnew Station (Ethiopia) in the early 60’s. Supply Sargent would pass them out to military dependents. Man, that was one fucked up place to live.

Is he trying to claim aggy played for a national title in 1992? The Sugar Bowl had the #1 and #2 ranked teams that year. The winner of that game was going to be the national champion regardless of results in other bowl games.

Not to mention aggy lost their bowl game so it’s irrelevant.

I know it’s aggy but what is the logic here?

“We came this fucking close” that’s it, that is their logic.

  6. I can say the movie Woodstock probably shaped my opinion more than anything. Before that movie my impression of The Who, and their act was that they were quirky. Woodstock changed that for me. I saw for myself that they had matured as a live act. They had powerful songs, unfortunately I didn’t particularly like many of them.

    The answer is heroin.

Magic Bus: dabbling in heroin and other drugs

Behind Blue Eyes is probably an addiction song

Baba O"Riley is probably an abortive recovery song.

    That’s actually quite clever..bravo.

This post would go better with pics.

I’ve always wanted a jukebox filled with the best 78s but then I’d probably have to spend my time keeping it up.

Always wanted a gramophone of some sort as well.

Mainly I just have my grandmas old Crosley American Overseas radio sitting on top of my CD cabinet. No lie.

    Which model Crosley?

You might be an audiophile, but you’re also a hoarder.

Buzz, I am a collector of musical history. A collection that spans almost 7 decades, and subsequently became the soundtrack of my life.

It includes all forms of musical media, as well as original art work, sculpture, photographs, vintage audio, and if you ask me, some really fucking nice instruments.

You would salivate if I let you get anywhere near it.

I always wonder if for me it's the fact that Pete writes it and Roger sings (most of) it.  There could be a disconnect shining through.

I get lost trying to understand how in hell did the guy who wrote Magic Bus, also write Behind Blue Eyes, and Baba O’ Riley?

I'm such a mega-fan of The Who that my favorite Who song is "Eminence Front".

That probably says exactly what I want it to say.  Never really got the band, but I can totally dig dozens of their tunes.  They just never float to the top of my consciousness.

I’m in the same place. Probably 5 or 6 songs that I really like. Never got the band.
However, I do disagree with those hacking on their talent. I believe all of them were really fucking good musicians.

I found that dude's Twitter page.

There's a couple of long Reddit threads mocking him, too. This one might be the most informative.

That is awesome. The desire to be important really is an addiction.

Bunch of them here right behind me. Hundreds more in the next room, extras and bootlegs. I also still have some old LPs, cassettes and even 8-tracks. But I haven't listened to any of them on quite a while, just jam on flash drives and youtube video, mostly.

The interesting thing is the quirky shit. Because they were released years apart. The powers that be added or removed certain songs and or vocals.

Take Kiss’ second album. The song Black Diamond does not appear on the cd. I’m sure it’s some kind of copyright bullshit, but it’s different. It was my favorite song on the fucking album.

Same with intro to T for Texas on Skynard’s live album. On the CD you get the complete Steve Gaines intro by Ronnie before he plays that wonderful intro. None of that is heard on the album. The same with the Jimmy Carter announcement before Sweet Home Alabama.

Just some examples when comparing the different formats. I love stumbling across the anomalies.
