  1. There’s gamesmanship and then there’s erratic, cuntish, borderline dangerous driving. Both contenders are definitely ramping up the gamesmanship. The thing is Max doesn’t need to drive like a cunt … his car is plenty fast and he has elite driving skills. Abu Dhabi should be a track that neutralizes the particular distinct advantages of each car at different sectors of the track. Hopefully they allow that to dominate the racing action and see what results.

  2. You almost have to hope one car runs away with it to avoid any shenanigans as I can’t say I trust everyone to behave.  And by everyone I mean Max.

That info needs some context, imo, in that those sizes are for running the whole house with that capacity A/C unit running.  You can get by with a smaller generator if you're willing to stage larger loads, i.e., don't run your fridge the entire time or while you're running the A/C.  A 4 ton unit will require 8500 W so a 10kW generator can handle it alone as long as the startup surge doesn't kill it.  A hard start kit on the compressor can help with that.

  4. I've been following f1 for about two days, but that won't prevent me from throwing out opinions. Max is a dick, Lewis is a douche. Mercedes needs solid competition, are they going to be back to dominating in 2022? Give me Checo and Alonso on a competitive team.

Nailed it. The only thing to add is that, for Toto, what is best in life is to crush your enemies, see them driven before you and to hear the lamentations of their women.

I'm  in favor of turning all of the current runoff areas into magma pits.  That ought to keep the drivers on track.

Yes and drivers should be able to drop banana peels and fire off shells to knock out the competition.  We see Merc already found the yellow star.

  6. Of course it was intentional. He drives like a shithead when pressured. Maybe the question is whether it’s bad from a Max standard or is it bad from a reasonable driver standard. Hard to say I think given more drivers are seeing the cracks in enforcement and pushing the limit.

  7. Not overly egregious or dirty, but really very late turn in there. I think the 5 second penalty is within reason but it hasn’t been consistently enforced. Probably best to leave it alone at this point and let the last 3 races be determinative.

  8. Looking at the title race, it seems like Max winning COTA is a huge blow to Lewis’s title hopes. Max is now up 12 with Mexico coming up where it’s very possible Red Bull lock out the top 2 spots and Ferrari may even be able to challenge Merc. Ferrari still have draggy aero and they thrive in high downforce setups, both of which should mean they have very good performance in Mexico. If Lewis even just gets 3rd, then Max will have a 22 point lead going into Brazil, where he should also be strong.

It’s conceivable Max could have a 28 point lead going into the last three races, which would mean Lewis would need to win all three and have Bottas second at least a couple times.

Agree with all this. It may be a tad early to proclaim the king is dead, but there’s a raspy rattle in his intake manifold.

I spent 4k making my new home ready for extended power outages by adding a generator interlock system to my panel, and a plug on the outside of the house to connect it. Got a plumber to add a line from the gas meter that I can connect whenever it happens.

I converted the generator to tri fuel, because again I don't trust the Texas grid to not fuck up again. I'll be using natural gas to feed the unit, but in the event these bozos shut that off, I'll be able to use gas or propane to power it as well. I don't know when exactly I'll need it, but being a good Boy Scout, I'm prepared.

Did you buy a kit to convert for natural gas?

  10. Very entertaining race. I think Merc waited too long to pit Lewis. A couple of laps earlier may have allowed him to put more pressure on Max late. Great driving by Max to be so precise on the last few laps and to extend the performance on his tyres. Who knew the Alfa-Alpine dust ups would be so riveting?!?

  11. Back home after a long day. Totally cool to see practice and qualifying. I was really impressed with Yuki today - his driving was very efficient and under control. Mazeaspin continues to be a disaster waiting to happen. One thing that stood out to me was how different the Mercs sound - almost guttural like a hot rod running jet fuel with straight pipes.

COTA is a total cluster. I asked 4 people for directions today and none of them had the first clue. We ended up having to double back all the way across the track after qualifying because our route to lot L was blocked by concert set up. No one could offer a solution other than return to the main entrance leaving us to walk the entire perimeter to get back to our parking spot.

We didn’t even bother with waiting in food or drink lines it was so crowded. We did manage to somehow score a free Lando hoodie though … so that was nice.

Overall had a really good time and enjoyed watching the action with my kiddo but don’t see us being in any rush to get back to COTA. Maybe the race in Canada will be our next adventure.
