  1. africa is big.
  2. they will likely want each mono stem in a .wav format along with a scratch track in .wav.
  3. Thanks, CM. Enjoying using these exercises to try some new things/styles each time. So the issue with me and guitar sounds is that i spend a ton of time getting little individual, single phrases and then way more time going through RX10 and cleaning audio and making it passable than anything. then i lace them together. I am not a good guitarist...nowhere near guys like you, goredho, jimmy, and g650. it takes me so long to get a phrase recorded that i think sounds good and then i will clean it and do some production processing on it to get it to sound exactly like I want, and then I will loop it. For instance, the first four measures in the latino track...there are two counterpoint guitar phrases that are lined up that I just recorded one bar for each (in like a hundred takes), and then i loop them three straight times, and then the fourth measure is the exact same thing with one note changed. so it is a total fake out if you will. a series of phrases that i am very meticulously stringing together. but it is also why that track is so repetitive and sounds a bit sterile and less organic as well which, as you note, makes it a little less enjoyable. if you asked me to play it live, i would not be able to. i can play most anything on the piano live (and quite a bit of bass and a bit of cello), but other than playing some CAGED rhythm chords and like the five solos out there i've practiced for a thousand hours, I can't on the guitar as I don't have y'all's skills. have really enjoyed listening to everyone's stuff this month...seems like the quality has been dialed up quite a bit. and i will reiterate what i said on the email thread, i selfishly hope you decide to let the gold top out of the cage on the next round.
  4. real talk...based on your experience soviet sub hunting, do soviet captains do crazy ivans to the starboard in the bottom half of the hour?

  6. Congrats to the Rangers on their first World Series. Hell of a season and 10 playoff road wins in a row is something pretty damned special.
  7. it sucks, but on the plus side, you will have a lot of us surlyites hitting you up for a place to stay in mid-june most years.
  8. thinking about ou wrs going out of bounds and back in to catch balls is making me think of the 2021 rrs and it is beginning to piss me off big time. it doesn't necessarily quite make it into the top 3 i listed earlier of 08 tech, 15 osu, and 22 bama but it is a definite honorable mention.
  9. he seriously needs to run shower background noise to jerk it? do you live in a studio apartment? jesus.
  10. this month's prompt was start a song with "the liquor store is closed on sundays." i have been trying to do new styles with each of these and this month i decided to try my hand at something with a latino bend to it. i have been inundated with tejano for like 12 hours a day every day for the last month and half so i decided to lean into the cultural appropriation. anyway, not going to share the version with vocals here because i can't sing for shit but here is the instrumental version. guitars and bass were recorded. the latin vibe came from a combo of a compressor/overdrive/lots of chorus pedal on a strat and a bit of back end processing.
  11. I have been on the fence but was leaning towards going after seeing some of the vids inside the sphere. So you would recommend? How was Bono’s voice?
  12. not holding.
  13. 2008 tech, 2015 oklahoma state, and 2022 alabama are the holy trinity of fucking awful officiating for me.
  14. exactly. fucking rice beat houston and we had to hang on for dear life to beat them. we are not consistent or dominant enough to take any win for granted at this point if we can't poundtown houston.
  15. no, i don't. i was an astros fan then (as i have been since 1985) and there isn't a moment in my life where even for a moment I can even conceive of the notion of rooting for the st. louis fucking cardinals of all teams. especially not in 2011. would have much rather seen the rangers win than the cardinals (or the giants for that matter). 😉 i suspect they all had themselves a hell of a fun night...deservedly so.
  16. lol, check out all the spunk from the rangers and cardinals fans! love it... don't think i have ever actually met a real life rangers fan so didn't know it was even a thing. congrats to the rangers for winning the AL pennant...it's a fun experience. good luck in the w.s. utterly insane that the astros have now played a seven game world series and a seven game alcs without winning a home game. that is baffling.
  17. This post clearly turned everything around. Good job, good effort time to turn into a home team as well.
  18. tying in with the whole criteria for best guitarists between technical proficiency and creating music that moves you...i saw billy strings live at moody this past summer and while that guy's speed and ability to play is other worldly and just mind-blowing...i genuinely cannot think of another concert in my life where i was more bored and just counting down the minutes until i could leave after the novelty of the playing was gone a few songs in.
  19. most relevant use of a compression pedal is to keep things within a certain dynamic range at the end of the day (though it does have some more nuanced uses as well). i think it adds the most value to mediocre to poor guitarists like myself that aren't the best in controlling their strum/picks in an even and consistent way. if i am wailing away and i hit the strings with an attack of 30/127 (to borrow a midi term) on one and then 127/127 on the next, it will sound kind of shitty. what the compressor does is take those and move them both to closer to 65/127 so it has a more even sound throughout regardless of my right arm's behavior...a cleaner, clearer sound if you will. however, if you are a very good guitarist, you probably don't need it so much for that purpose and if you want a really wide dynamic range in the playing, it will hamper your ability to achieve that. i use the standard mxr dyna comp at the front of my old school signal chain probably 80% of the time.
  20. i am not in the business of hating when it comes to other people's musical efforts or abilities, but i can assure you that both goredho and celery man can both perform those solos with relative ease if you give them a few days. i suspect tbone probably could as well.
  21. PG was great in Austin last night. A little different juice from the London show but had an up close perspective last night that was awesome. Manu brought it and Levin was great as always. IMG_5330.mov IMG_5336.mov
  22. this is a road team all the way...time to turn this bitch around.
  23. fucking love the edge in a way that most on this site do not. he's not a better guitarist than mark. him being 96 may be the stupidest single entry on this.
