So apparently it only takes 8 votes to dissolve the ACC conference?

If that's correct, that really changes things.  You can go 4 to the B1G and 4 to the SEC and networks could pretty much wash their hands of any future liabilities for the P12 or ACC.

The problem being the SEC and Big 10 don’t want all 8, the B1G only seems to want UNC and UVA, the SEC seems to be less picky and would take UNC, UVA, Clemson, FSU and Miami with NC state or VT being a consolation prize if UNC and UVA go north. But that means at most only 7 schools are getting picked up if you include ND.

I might be in the minority here but I think venables will do well the first couple years at ou as long as he can get a even half way competent defense. The offense will be okay for 1-2 years with what is there, if he does not come out hot in first couple of years it will be very similar to Herman I think. Lots of talk little results.

    That’s not how it works.

Venables is going to be such a shitshow.

Dabo’s shtick is annoying and dumb but it’s tolerated because he wins, Venables seems like he is setting himself up the way Herman did in try to copy Urban and OSU, that’s shit only works if you win and win big fast.

You haven’t read all of the books?

Well we know CTJ has at least seen the show. Because one of my favorite surly moments is when some lunatic followed CTJ from the TV board and went on a rant about Danny burning Kings Landing which lead to a Tom Herman recruiting thread debating the effectiveness of strategic fire bombing campaigns.

I think the bottom line is that if the Big 12 can get the 4 corner schools and line up some solid TV deals, we're going to cut UT and OU loose.  Hence the "win/win" comment.

I speculated in either this thread or the other that there was likely some personal anger from Bowlsby towards to UT/OU that Yormark simply wouldn't bring to the proceedings, and his comments today suggest as much.  He's a businessman.

Or the man is actually smart and realizes the need to build the identity of the Big 12 without UT and OU. The Big 12 no longer gains anything from the presence of Texas or OU as the talk about either team will almost always be in relation to the SEC, you don’t want a Big 12 title game between two teams that are literally leaving the Big 12 because the SEC narrative will overshadow the Big 12. Secure the financial compensation and use that to begin building up the new Big 12 brand focus on OSU, UCF, ISU, Cincy and how they are going to lead the Big 12 into a new era.

B1G is going to use the Big 10 Network (BTN) to make some of these teams work for now. Add a $1.50 to $2.00 per TV set within the region of the teams added to the conference. SEC/B1G will separate from the NCAA (and possibly join into one league down the road) and the B1G is going to try and make their BTN a college sports version of ESPN. It's why the they own a piece of their network. They will eventually have enough content throughout the country that they can command $3 to $4 for every TV set nationwide. It's why I've stated footprint still matters.

This is a race, a generation in the making, to eliminate the complete deadweight at the bottom of the P5 Conferences and consolidate assets to create more leverage.

Oh give me a fucking break.

Explain to me then why the two power conferences that are left standing - the B1G and the SEC - have had equal revenue sharing from the get-go?

How come the “bluebloods” in those league didn’t feel “under appreciated” and get their vaginas all sandy when the Vanderbilts and Mississippi States and Indianas were benefiting from the big contracts those leagues got primarily because of the blue bloods?

Perhaps because, unlike some other butthurt programs, they DID realize that equal revenue sharing would be good for the entire conference because it would enable the non-blue blood programs to invest in their programs and make them better, lifting up the profile of the entire conference.

It’s hard to argue with the results, given who is going to be left standing at the end of the day.

P.S. The idea that the Big 12 treated OU or Texas “like shit” is fucking comically laughable.

Because they weren't full of pissants, they had an actual core of quality programs to build the conference around, the Big 8 and SWC were 4 power programs with a dozen ticks hanging on it was completely and utterly kept alive by Texas, OU, Nebraska and A&M. Instead of the Big 12 being formed from the absolutely awful corpses of the SWC and big 8 Texas and A&M bolt for the SEC or Pac and OU and NU are able to jump to the Big 10 what happens to the rest of the conference? OSU, KSU, Baylor, TTU, KU, ISU where fucking hot garbage for decades, there was no middle class to hold up the rest of the conference it was all third rate teams in 5th rate markets.

I wonder how many programs are mixing bags and unrealistic NIL pitches to get a massive recruiting boost while creating a ticking time bomb in their program. You drop a bag as a pseudo signing bonus make it seem as though that will be a regular thing and then tie that with a NIL pitch that just isn't realistic. Hey kid here is 250k and we can get you 2 mil in NIL if you sign with us. But in reality that 250k is a one time deal and the 2 million is if you are a Heisman finalist on title winning team. Only for the kid to get to campus ride the pine his freshman year to a 7-5 season and whopping 15k NIL money hawking discounts at a detail shop.

What do you think the range would be on a F-350 EV pulling 24000 lbs. of a trailer full of cattle will be? 50 miles to the sale barn, and a return trip, reload, and make another run? Do you have to stop for 8 hours in the middle of the job to recharge?

    CHIEF

And that accounts for less than 1% of traffic, the vast, vast overwhelming majority of Americans drive less than 100 miles a day with the majority of those driving less than 50 miles a day which is well within the feasibility of EVs.

  10. I am getting to the point that I am just going to bite the pillow and take it in the ass and buy a truck off the lot. Ordered one through our long term dealership, because they gave me a great deal on my trade in and priced it at MSRP, but Ford keeps pushing the build date back. When I ordered they said should take 8-10 weeks for an f-150 and that's what ford scheduled it at first, but ford has just pushed it back further and further and now it's over 3 months out. The problem is the dealer I use has literally zero inventory and Ford sends them a hand full of trucks a month and only 1 or 2 is a XLT or Lariat. So I have talked to other dealers and all of them have inventory but they have "protection packages" that cost 3-5k over MSRP. Don't piss on me and tell me it's raining those aren't protection packages they are mark ups.

It won’t happen this time. At least not right away.

There will definitely be no rocket ship, and certainly offshore.

Yeah. What is the estimated losses investors and creditors took in O&G since 2015? It’s got to be well north of 200 billion, companies are going to have to get 6 years of devastating losses off their books first. And OPEC has show. They can crush the US O&G back down with 40bbl so short of a black swan event I don’t see anyone giving O&G the credit card again.

Overweight, 6/10 girls are the best totally worth the modest amount of effort need to bag them.

  13. Breaking Bad first aired in 2008 on network television just as streaming and social media took off,  GoT, TWD, True detective, HoC, SoA, etc all came out afterwards so BB hit at the perfect time to blow up with being on basic cable, being different from everything else at the time and having social media to spread it like wildfire. Shows like the Sopranos and The Wire which where locked behind HBO and didn't have streaming or social media to spread it through the public like Breaking Bad did even though they where both far superior in quality.

Not sure why it’s not a big deal for former head coaches to join other staffs as analyst but the conspiracy stuff comes out when Patterson is linked to Texas. Tom Herman had Chris Ash and Larry Fedora, who were both former P5 head coaches, on staff as analyst. If Patterson ends up being GM or football or something along those lines then I’ll revisit and reevaluate my stance on him trying to sabotage the program or whatever, but it’s hard to see this as anything but a good thing. AD’s don’t make analyst hires. And if BMD’s were running the show PK would have been shown the door the day after K State.

PK and GP know one another. Their staffs visited each other when PK was at Boise. This isn’t two dudes meeting for the first time. PK’s 2-4-5 is built off principles from GP’s 4-2-5.

One, because at no point has anyone said that Sark is the one who wants to hire Patterson and that the push to hire Patterson has come from CDC's end. Two it's who is being hired, Herman hired buddy coaches who failed massively and were thrown out on their asses after crashing their programs in epic fashion. Gary Patterson has been one of the best coaches in the state for the last two decades who has slapped Texas around on the field and undermined us on recruiting, and that means he has credibility to poke and prod Sark for his own ends. Do you think that any of the power players at Texas gave two fucks what Chris Ash or Larry Fedora thought about how Tom Herman ran the program? Unlike them I have no doubt that Patterson can get into the ears of both the administration and the BMD and give them all kinds of brain worms about how things should be done and how Sark doesn't know what he is doing and it should be clear anyone how toxic for any organization that environment can be.

This may be an unpopular opinion, but i can see where guys at small schools could be really productive and then never crack the starting lineup at a place like Texas if they transferred. Devin Richardson is an example of that last year. They aren't just chasing productIon, they are looking for a specific profile. That means we will pass on some guys that would seem like obvious takes. The UNLV linebacker is the headscratcher so far this offseason with his HS coach on staff here, but they are showing at the very least that they believe what they are doing and sticking to their guns. Things could have turned out much differently had we not had the fortunate coaching changes, but they rolled the dice and won. I just hope we dont tempt fate too many times.

Unfortunately incompetent people tend to misattribute good fortune to their own skill and competence when nothing can be further from the truth.

    Probably a stupid question/point.

If NIL is above-table and player-specific, perhaps the way some of these schools are obtaining advantages is by funneling cash to the families and handlers.  Most of the major players are/will probably dole out similar amounts for NIL; however, if Uncle, Mom, and Dad are also getting money, that could be enough to hold sway.

I'm sure this has already been discussed.  Carry on.

The biggest advantage for the bag game is what will also cause it to die off. You can't talk about the bag game, and if you can't talk about it, how are going to flex just how much you are getting paid. On the other hand you have NIL where we can shout it from the roof tops how much money our guys are making and never underestimate the power of clout, what's the point of having money if you can't show it off.
