The Baylor hype doesn't seem to be based on anything substantive. TCU will be good if they can find a real QB, and if they can't you can still expect them to feast on most of the conference. Flip okie light with baylor and I think that's reasonable to project. Chubba Hubbard is going to break out this year.

Not having a proven QB will hurt TCU unless their defense is unbelievable. Brewer is solid.

Hell no on UCF, USF, and BYU. Taking the fifth or sixth top program in Florida is not going to help the conference any. Adding BYU is a non-starter since we are not taking any football only members.

UCF is arguably Florida's 3rd best program these days. "The U" has hit the skids.

I've never seen or heard Bowlsby say "no football only members" definitively. Link?

      6. The Big 12 is prepared to expand with any combo of UCF/BYU/USF. ESPN has told the Big 12 expansion with UCF/BYU/USF is acceptable but P5 schools are preferred.

    2. 4. The Big 12 must finalize the ESPN/GoR before the Pac 12’s TV deal expires. 5. Several Pac 12 schools have expressed interest. 5. The Big 12 is not interested in a scheduling alliance witn the Pac 12 at this time.

      3. By extending their base deal with ESPN and the GoR to 2035 the Big 12 puts itself in position to widen the revenue gap with the Pac 12 and dispel any thoughts of instability thereby making the Big 12 an attractive option to the Pac 12.

The Dude is an ass-clown. Fuck WVU and their "horns-down" hillbillies.

Dump them and add BYU, UCF, and USF.

Unless the Big XII poaches P5 schools, I can't help but think the only financially viable expansion option is BYU for football only. Their football brand and national following actually brings some good value, and if they're football only they won't get nearly a full media revenue cut.

Then why wouldn't we add a 12th "football only" member to go back to a 8-game, balanced Big 12 schedule? That'd give us the flexibility to schedule another marquee home game annually. BYU plus Boise State or UCF?

That'd be acceptable. USF sucks and not just because Charlie is their HC now.

If his regular season predictions come through (Alabama, Ohio State, Clemson and blOU go undefeated, jawja's only loss is a close one to Bama in the SEC Championship Game) you are absolutely going to see ESPN lobby for both Bama and Georgia to make the CFP ahead of Oklahoma. And there's a good chance they succeed.

I give zero fucks if OU gets screwed out of a playoff spot. It's bullshit, but I'm not watching those 4 teams again anyway. Or should we be chanting "Big 12 - Big 12 - Big 12"?

The sec is much tougher than the acc, and the sec west has 3 programs that are better than a&m is...programs that jimbo and the aggies have to deal with every season just to reach atl. Texas am is miss st with more money, plain and simple. They're an average football program that tries to buy their way into the category of the big 6 in the sec, and theyre simply not. This is going to be fun to watch them crash and burn and come to the realization that they're still the same ole a&m, and still the lil bro in Texas. It's gonna be epic.

aggy wasn't even the 4th best in the Big 12. Most years, they were behind OU, UT, & NU while struggling with Tech. Their best team - 2012 - was built to compete in our league, too.

    whoop!

I can never get over how great this gif is. Aggy lost the game right in this moment.

Watching aggy blow that lead was almost as fun as watching the Longhorns win.

    fuck aggy

Met up last night with a few friends.  My wife’s friend was a reasonable aggy in my opinion before last night.  We both started talking about football.  He said he thinks they’ll be 9-3.  I said that could happen.  I said I think they’ll pull one of the four big games and lose one of their toss up games and end up 8-4.  He then asks me what I think the longhorns record will be, and I replied “I think we’ll end up 10-2 hopefully but I can see 9-3”.  He scoffs and says, isn’t that overly optimistic.   Asked me “what makes you think you’ll beat LSU and ou”.  I just looked at him and said “ we beat ou last year, stomped uga, and your shitty ass aggy team beat LSU so I feel good about playing them at home”.  Then he goes on about how we don’t have a quarterback, lost to Kansas, and the normal shit you read on Texags.  I told my wife her friend is a fucking moron after we left.  There are no reasonable aggy.

Did you remind your wife's aggy friend that they're 10-15 against P5 competition their last 25 games?

    whoop!

This is a highlight package? That's got to be some kind of mistake right? It's literally the second highlight he gets flagged for pass interference and every other one is him making a tackle 10 + yards down the field after either a completion or a running play. Not a single interception or pass defensed successfully for a DB highlight package?

It appears to be, yes. Funnier part is I shared it with Gringo before watching the damn thing.

I'll happily bet on the dude who played HS football in Texas (and was a dawg while at it) and actually got tested over the dude who got handled with kid gloves in Georgia where they barely throw the ball. People act like the ball didn't get thrown his way because he was this transcendent talent when in reality it was probably just that they don't throw the ball very much there and if you are going to throw the ball, why throw it toward the guy whose father played for the Dallas Cowboys?

Not saying Watson won't be successful. I'm just saying that to me he's more unproven and seems like a finesse guy. And I think Caldwell will play more like a dawg.

The spread has proliferated nationwide, Gringo. Even into GA.

Since 2013, I’ve been overly optimistic about the upcoming season every year. It was due to a combination of artificially high recruiting rankings that didn’t reflect reality very well, and a head coach change.

However, this year I really believe we are going to have a good year. Our recruiting has been much better and I don’t feel we have many recruits that came in that were worse than their ratings. That, combined with the coaching staff demonstrating they can coach in big games gives me hope for a 10-2 or 11-1 season.

This and Yancy McKnight actually developing football players and not poseurs/bodybuilders or whatever the fuck Moorer did with strength & conditioning during CFS's tenure.

Its a play and mix on what aggy calls Fisher, a “sitting national championship coach” and their new favorite term for themselves as a “national brand.” It was a fairly clever joke till it had to be explained.

...from the outside you don't understand it and from the inside you can't explain it.

    In other words, "aggy".
