I feel like not uncovering the fact that Charlie Strong was a fucking retard is kind of a strike against them.

Don’t need to pay 7 figures for someone to tell me that.   Bill and Steve just willfully ignored it.  It was always s going to be strong Franklin or shaw

Some of you root for things like Jake Smith transferring just so you can bitch about Herman. It’s pathetic.

There’s nothing substantive on this thread, and I’m not sure there’s ever been any legitimacy to the rumor. It’s like you’re begging for it to happen. You’re shitty fans.

    Truth

Is this the standard though? People used to say that about Greg Davis as well. “He’s not the worst OC out there.” If a coach isn’t an established top 10 talent at his spot, or a young investment showing a ton of promise (for a position coaching role only), then the guy needs to go.

I fucking have to live and die in business by “it’s up or out”, so why on earth is it unreasonable to expect that at UT in the football program? Del Conte can’t rebut that and neither can Fuckface. Todd Orlando can go fuck up some also-ran’s defense. I’d like to see some fucking pride re-established in how Texas plays defense and that clown isn’t going to be a part of making that happen, that zero-coverage blitz packaging motherfucker.

Also, I’ll shit a golden barbed-wire dildo and then facefuck an overly enthusiastic futureman with it if Texas finishes this season 11-3.

Idk what happens in the bowl game or a rematch Vs ou but 9-3 can definitely happen.

Well I guarantee during the game I didn’t want them to go for 2. I thought OU’s chances were much better in OT than to stop one play. You seem to agree with that so I dunno why you think I wouldn’t feel that way at the time.

This is correct.  In any sporting or game of competition the longer the game goes, the more likely the better personnel wins.

CDC is never going to micromanage any program or any coach. That just isn't his personality.

Tom Herman is still young to be heading up the biggest college football program (in terms of scope and revenues) in the nation. Yes, guys like Lincoln Riley are younger and kicking ass, but we have TH, not Lincoln.

In Herman's first year, he made some very questionable decisions involving personnel (Horny, Leitao) that unnecessarily cost him some goodwill with the alumni. He seems to have learned from the lesson. In his second year, for some reason, he wasn't doing what was necessary to have the team ready to play at the opening kickoff. That unnecessarily cost a couple of games, including Maryland. His demeanor in press conferences has been a work in progress, with a fair amount of improvement.

My point is that Herman has made some mistakes, but he doesn't seem to be repeating his mistakes and none of the mistakes he has made have been unforgivable.

CDC is going to give Herman time to develop as head coach of Texas football. That is, quite simply, how CDC operates. The fact he operates that way was one of the reasons he was chosen to lead Texas athletics. He is VERY deliberate, not prone to emotional reactions, and has a very long term horizon in mind for the direction of each and every program.

I was at the TCU game. I spoke to CDC about 45 mins after the game, as he was exiting Gate 4 to head down to where the team buses were waiting. He was not upset, worried, or unhappy. Nothing about his demeanor indicated to me he was going to involve himself with the decisions of Coach Herman. Rather, I had every reason to believe he was going to head down to the bus area, chat with parents, fans, and alumni, and head out to spend the evening socializing with friends from Fort Worth.

At the end of the season, CDC will meet with TH and discuss the state and the direction of the program. THAT is what CDC is focused on, not on how many rushing yards the team gave up, or how many missed tackles the defense blew.

CDC will not concern himself with the employment status of any assistant coach or staffer, unless it is a "with cause" issue that involved the public reputation of the program. Tom Herman will be held accountable for his long term stewardship of the program, including his decisions involving his assistant coaching staff. CDC is not going to force Herman to make a coaching change and then hold Herman responsible for the performance of an assistant coach that was forced upon him against his wishes. That is not how CDC operates.

Was someone else posting as you a couple of weeks ago?

Students at UT Austin pay about twenty cents on the dollar of the actual cost of their education.

You might want to keep that in mind before being condescending, and thumping yourself on the chest about what perceived “rights” you insist you are entitled to.

No one here is impressed by how much you spent to attend UT. Next time, just answer the question.

I like your brother Mortimer better but thanks for having my back.  Ooooihhh mba.  Scary

If you had reading comprehension you'd realize I addressed this in the last sentence. And I think the tens of thousands of dollars I spent to be in these classes gives me the right to point out that this is a course in the MBA program.

    Snot nosed grad school kids.

He came and spoke to one of my classes on Thursday and got asked a thinly-veiled question about the decision-making process for hiring/firing coaches. He (rather strongly) opined that the turnover we've seen in the head coach position and the AD's office has been a significant negative factor in recent years. Stressed that stability/continuity were paramount at the point in the program's re-development. Granted, that could just be his "public" opinion, but, for better or worse, I don't see Herman going anywhere within the next two-three years unless things get really bad.

    FWIW.

You don’t think he’d say “yea Herman is out on his ass after this season” to a bunch of snot nosed sophomores do you?

I'm not reading through 5 pages of this so it may have already been said.  Unless that black QB plays defense too it don't make a shit.

Also, I dont see Cede Lamb or the other OU rexievers, not to mention their oline on our team.  Other than Duverney we don't have a receiver that would start for them.  Other than him, our receivers are underwhelming and underperforming. Even CJ hasn't played up to the potential he has.  He makes some great catches but he and the others never seem to be able to get any separation and don't use their size to the advantage they have.  There's only so much the QB can do when every recieiver has a db on top of them every fucking play.

Man we have said this almost every single year.  “Which of our players would start for ou” and most times, not many

This is HIGHLY assuming some G5 coach doesn't gimmick their way to beating a top 10 program next year in non-conference or a bowl game and then we just go out and hire them because we fall in love like we did Herman, instead of doing a due diligence.

So I guess we better keep an eye on Jeff Monken at Army if they somehow upset OU next year.

    Or that kleiman fella

Man if half of this is true than we are so fucked that we are beyond saving. If Mehringer is really berating and humiliating his players to the point that they are leaving and he’s hasn’t  been fired or disciplined means that the leadership and accountability come from Herman is fucking trash. Because Herman is either okay with a coach actively driving away players or he is so out of touch that he is unaware of the state of his program which might be even worse. If this is what’s happening inside the program than we are headed to a monumental fucking melt down.

There’s an odd rumor that whole he hasn’t been fired mehr is no longer coaching the wideouts

Texas fans used to boo when a black quarterback was trotted out on the field.  I don't think it stopped until Vince.

As for Earl, his character is well known and I firmly believe he meant what he said but his meaning is different than what is being interpreted.  He views Darrell Royal and Bum Phillips, both white, as father figures.  Personally, I believe there is nothing to see here.

We booed James brown because he was black?
