  1. ABIA is one of the shittiest airports in the US in just about every category. It's as if the planners wanted to discourage area growth and accessibility.

    • Security effectiveness and efficiency - has always been bad - now worse.
    • Access to parking garages, shuttles, taxi, uber, etc. requires crossing drop-off and pick-up traffic.  WTF?
    • Parking capacity
    • Terminal hall width

I've been flying in and out of the Indianapolis airport quite a bit as of late.  It is a night and day experience compared to ABIA. The city/state/etc. planners definitely want to encourage persona travel, business travel, and enablement of commerce in the area.  Sure, the weather sucks 3-4 months per year there, but it sure is easy to travel there :)

Same with the Portland airport.  Getting to/from it is a pain, but the entire experience while you are there is fantastic.  In fact, restaurants are not allowed to charge more for food/beverage at the airport than they do at their in-town establishments.  Imagine my surprise when I paid $6 for a pint at PDX.

    csb?
On Sunday, Uber from airport to NW Austin was $75.  WTF?  Tried Lyft: $43.  OK great.  Driver opens trunk to load up my bags and I see he's packing a 9mm - clearly visible.  I proceed to ask about it.  Open carry proponent?  Past incidents?  Nope.  Just finished police academy and is waiting for a position in (formerly rural now a suburb of Austin) ISD for next year.  OK.  Proceeds to tell me about moving from Brooklyn, his family, damn near everything about his life.  I am sure I contributed because I asked a few questions.  "Oh, you drove for a delivery company that delivered to Brooklyn, Staten, and Jersey.  Did you ever drive through Manhattan?"  "I fucking hate Manhattan.  My last GF wanted me to take her on a date there and I refused."  etc.  He moved here to get better work in a better weather environment (as most are, I guess).  I still wonder if $75 might have been a better deal, but I contributed to my own discomfort.

  3. I over-posted during the game last night and made several very derogatory statements about him - letting a combination of my Purdue fandom and a couple of drinks get in the way :/

That said, he's a very good coach and his teams are impressive.  The only way Purdue was going to win yesterday is if their guards were productive.  They were not.

Hurley's sideline histrionics, mouthiness to opposing players, and constantly standing on the court are fairly annoying.  Pushing his own player was kinda wild.  How that was not a technical foul is amazing.

Meh, we won a national championship in '05 with a coach who was a whiny, thin skinned vindictive beating .  A different kind of cunt I guess vs. whatever Hurley is. But whatever.

At the end of the day we have a banner and a trophy and no one gives two shits about whether they liked the coach or not.

Brown's infinitely more accessible and likable than Hurley.  20 years from the championship, Brown would remain accessible and likable.  Hurley?  Nope, but I am projecting.

Regardless: Congrats DanH  and Mack Brown and Vince Young.

  5. UConn is the better team.
Uconn is better coached.  (even if Hurley is an eternal douche)

The difference in this game was the backcourt.  U'Con's Newton was great and was able to overcome an inexperienced if not fairly effective (except in some key situations) Purdue backcourt.  Dany boy was better at working the refs. :)

Boilers had to many late TOs.  Sigh...

Hurley should leave the mouthiness for chatting up the refs. Bad look talking shit to a 22 year old.

The next time a Hurley takes the high road will be the first.

Not sure the guards are good enough to keep up with UConn’s

True.  As long as Edey outlasts the Klingon it could work out :)

Why is anyone assuming that he was “over the legal limit”? Do y’all not know how DWI’s work?

I was responding to this question:

First thought was what a poor decision and second thought was how many drinks does a man of 365 lbs have to drink to go over the limit.

    For what it is worth
  8.

A family member is wanting to make a slight modification to their homesite.  Home was built in the 1930s so there are no surveys.  Zoning commission says a survey is not required, but a reasonable drawing and/or facsimile of site is acceptable.

The county does not have good site data (other than lot measurements.  Family member has done the lot, homesite, etc. measurements and would like to just drop it into a doc/form/etc. for use.

Google search returns a few, but I am curious if anyone has used anything they'd recommend.

    https://www.calculator.net/bac-calculator.html

    365 lbs
Normal Beer: 9.5 beers, 5% 12oz beers in 2 hours
IPAs at a local brewpub: 5 7% pints in 2 hours
Shots: 8.5 shots in 2 hours

Many variables and the above is not perfect.  But "lots" is a pretty reasonable answer.
