Thanks - tried them - do not carry them. Johnstone Supply only sells to contractors and would take at least a day to get here.
Appreciate it!

I have 2 HVAC units that use 21x27x5 filters. Being a dumbass, I sometimes forget to order them at a consistent rate. As a result, when one gets a little too "full" I see a slowing in air flow which results in extra condensation (air flow helps evaporation). And the AC stops, as I get too much condensation in the unit.
Yeah - there is a minor problem of getting the condensation out, but when I have new filters, it works great.
So - filters take 2-3 days to get here. Any idea where I can get larger AC filters in Austin? Big boxes do not carry, etc.

That was / is my plan if RE prices aren’t too too crazy around where my daughter goes to college.
Our house will be paid off before she goes to college so the $2500/mo will go towards a condo.
A 2 BR so she can get a roommate to help pay the mortgage.
We considered doing this before our oldest went to college and decided not to buy. It was a mistake.
Room rents run around $900+ per month per person near UT campus (many campuses for that matter). Simple math shows you can lose around $40k net on the place and still "break even" compared to renting. That does not account for the rent for the roommate. You'll likely sell if for a near you bought it for and will have to pay sellers fees - you'll still be ahead.

Look, if Tech wants to drop bags, they're more than welcome to. But I fear that they're going to learn that signing five stars does not automatically translate to wins. Tom Herman and Charlie Strong were also able to snag 5 stars.
With a little spare time, I decided to review the 247 info for Strong's classes:
2014: ranked 17 nationally - 5*: 0, 4*: 10 : Heard, Roberson, A Foreman, Duke Catalon, Poona, BLake Whitely, Lorenzo Joe, John Bonney, Edwin Freeman, Jermaine Roberts
2015: ranked 10 nationally - 5*: 1 Malik Jefferson, 4*:15 Holton Hill, Kris Boyd, Chris Warren, Wheeler, Locksley, Vahe, Burt, DeAndre McNeal, K Johnson, R Newsome, C Townsend, Omenihu, D Elliott, Buck Major, Cecil Cherry,. Class also had NFLers Connor Williams, PJ Locke, and Michael Dickson
2016: ranked 6 nationally - 5*: 0 4*: 12 - B Jones, J Elliott, Duvernay, Fowler, Hudson, MCCulloch, Fitzgerald, DeLance, Collin Johnson, D Okafor, Kyle Porter, S BuecheleAnd Herman's
2017: Ranked 25 - 5*:0, 4*: 4 Estrell, Gary Johnson, Ehlinger, Graham - Damion Miller signed LOI and did not enroll
2018: Ranked 3 - 5*: 3 Jalen Green, Overshown, Stearns 4*: 13 Foster, Eagles, Jamison, Adeoye, Cook, Angilau, J Moore, Ossai, Coburn, Woodard, K Ingram, Ojomo, Reese Moore
2019: Ranked 3 - 5*: 2 Bru McCoy, Tyler Owens 4*: 13 Whittington, Floyd, Jake Smith, Tyler Johnson, Myron Warren, Adimora, Gbenda, Liebrock, Hoofkin, Watson, Washington, Shepard, D Brown. Brown never played. Notable 3* in that class: RoJo, Sweat, J Wiley,
2020: Ranked 9 5* : 2 Bijan, Alfred Collins 4* 12 - J Jackson, Card, Dorbah, Barron, Crawford, Alford, J Thompson, Broughton, Garth, Parr, Karic, K Dixon. Notable 3* Majors, J FordStrong recruited 1 5*; Herman recruited 7.
So far, Sark has recruited 12: 2021: 1, 2022: 2, 2023: 3, 2024: 2, 2025: 4
There were a lot ot recognizable names in Strong's and Herman's classes above. There were quite a few I do not recall at all. Such is college football recruiting.

He was a douche, but he did place importance on those games. Also, and I care so little I wont google, but I cant recall him losing a game by 2 TDs more than twice maybe?
Worst total margin of loss in a season: 40. Brown and Strong did that it single games on occasion.
By year: (o) means overtime.
Year 1: lost by 10, 3o, 5, 3o, 17, 4
Year 2: lost by 5, 3, 1, 12 (12 was Big12 Champ game against OU)
Year 3: 7, 7, 10, 2, 14
Year 4: 2, 8o, 3Yeah - he was a douche.
@markstanco - yes - 2 times - your recall was correct

ESPN's article on the signing has an interesting sentence.
Ojo will join Texas Tech in 2026 as the program's first five-star signee since wide receiver Micah Hudson in 2024.
ESPN damning with faint praise it appears...

Fisher had an actual professional agent - Jimmy Sexton - who made sure Fisher's name came up for every new OC/HC/etc. for the past 15 years. Fisher may be a shitbag, but it was always clear he was looking for more money and more responsibility.
What Ojo did was at a totally different level. He had signed a contract before July 1 and continued to tell others he was either (1) undecided or (2) on his way to Texas. Funny, he could have (and may have) actually told Sark that Tech was offeret 3/5.1. Sark would have said, "That's life changing money. You should take it." Kinda like what he did for Dakorian Moore (iirc).
A couple of things cross my mind
- His agent will never have a signee at Texas - much less anywhere else because of the abject dishonesty
- I struggle to find how McGuire could have been a player in this deception. He's a functional moron, so any planned deception came from elsewhere.
- I am not sure why TT, their collective, etc. would do this. They're bitter, small people with inferiority complex? Still butt-hurt over Barnes?
- We should protest any attempt to play them in any sport - or collaborate with anyone at TTU in any research, etc. (yes, I am petty)
- Ojo and company should be glad they F-d with Texas and not with tOSU. tOSU fans are not as reserved, forgiving, etc. And - rather than throwing plastic water bottles, their fans throw glass bottles and cans (2005 comes to mind).
Ojo is 18 and that level of deceit is not common from someone that age, so he had help. EDIT to add: CTJ said he and his family are bad news. Perhaps this is not surprising, but it seems he'll fit in with Joey and Tech.
Rant over.
We'll be fine.

What time did you get there? I specifically want the lamb chops, at least for my wife. How big are they?
Yesterday, we got there at around 715pm, so I do not know what time they "officially" ran out of the lamb chops (but had found a few secret ones).
The pan in the picture is around 9" x 12", so the lambchops are around 5"-6" from the beginnging to teh end of the meat and around 2" wide. I'd guess i was around 1.5" thick. When I got it, I thought "kinda small" but after that and the bowl, I was stuffed.
$8.50 for one lamb chop. And the bowl was $18.50.

Stream of recent breweries/beers I visited in the LA area a couple of weeks ago. Few pics, b/c I did not take pics of all the beers I drank
Santa Monica Brew Works - Inclined West Coast IPA - Pretty good WC - they are a gratuity free establishment, so $9.50 for a 20oz pint was not so bad.
Malibu Brewing Company - First Point IPA, Daughter had Happy Days Honey Blonde. Both were very good. And a nice reward after a 2+ hour hike in the Santa Monica Mountans.
Stone IPA - 19.2 oz can at Dodger Stadium - I only mention it because it was $19. Bargain. No pics of the Stone, but I had a good seat...
Culture Brewing - Manhattan Beach Location - Mosaic IPA - it was fantastic.
Golden Road Brewing - Anaheim location - Ride On West Coast IPA - it was "ok" for a California IPA. I may be giving it a higher grade than it deserved because it was a beer I enjoyed after a 13 hour day at DisneyLand. A Celis might have tasted good after that. Daughter had the blonde ale.
Monkish Brewing - stopped here after hiking in Rancho Palos Verdes and before heading to LAX. Very high quality. I had the Looks IPA, IIRC. DD had a Hazy.

interesting move going to one of the worst breweries in town.
That is true. Good location, pretty good setup all around, but the beer was meh. Here's to hoping Marco fixes things.

Dang. I think I know where I'm getting dinner.
Yeah - it was a treat, for sure.
When we walked up, the menu claimed to be out of lamb chops, but the hostess said, "we have 4 secret lambchops left, want some?" Uh, sure. Holy smokes!
After eating that, I will admit I was a little slow finishing my 2nd beer. I pushed through, though
.
I had the "Ethics and Standards" IPA, and thought it was great.

You don’t have to turn it into a moral discussion. My opinion is that the death penalty wastes a ton of monetary and human resources which results in victims of other crimes getting shortchanged.
To elaborate on this further... (not a lawyer, but google is my friend)
The cost of a capital case is around $1mm (on average) greater than a non-captial case - greater in some places. And that is if both go to completion. In this specific case, the cost is far different, as the dude pleaded guilty.
Then, there is the cost of appeals, incarceration, etc. The costs of incarcerating a death penalty prisoner are significantly higher - there are estimates that it is 5x the cost. Same with the appeals process.Note that the prosecution represents the state - and not just the families of the victims. Life without parole is better for the state in risk, financial, etc. dimensions. You do not want to risk that the prosecution, law enforcement, the university, or anyone else fucked up some part of the process, lengthening the trial or enabling more appeal opportunities.
He pleaded guilty and will be permanently out of the press very soon. This is the best outcome for the state. As @Brisketexan notes, I comprehend the desire for vengeance - esp. for this guy. The debt metaphor is perfect.

Stream of consciousness on some I've watched - I think I had some comments upthread, but will add more.
-
Your Friends and Neighbors
- Strong cast - Amanda Peet always gets my attention
- Decent writing
- Story is interesting, etc.
- Not sure I liked the way the season ended, but anything different might have precluded a second season
-
Stick
- Interesting premise
- Cast, except Santi, is good/acceptable. It's like the writers and the casting director conspired to make him as unlikeable as possible. He's a uber talented, unrepentant, petulant child who finds any and every reason to find how others have wronged him. Perhaps he'd be a more sympathetic character if the actor was better. I like Wilson/Maron characters and look forward to their evolution.
- Mom's character is "so so" but she is definitely an enabler of her son's petulance.
-
Murderbot
- I like the premise -
- Gurathin getting eaten by one of the sand centipedes would make the show better
- It could be better; it could be worse
-
Fountain of Youth
- Two hours of my life I will never get back; multiple times, I violated the sunk cost fallacy and said, "it will get better." It did not.
- As someone else noted above, I cannot recall one thing from it. I even forgot that Natalie Portman was in it until I revisited the cast.
- If you think of watching it, don't. Find something else to do.
-
Your Friends and Neighbors

Or maybe it’s like middle school and they vote for their friends.

Yeah - that was a great article. My favorite line:
“You never wanna be that dad who says his son is really something special,” he [Cooper] said. “When you share that with someone, you sound like a lunatic."

Mostly, I just think Athlon is being lazy because he’s one of the only P4 returners that did rush for 1000 (in 16 games).
This. Athlon is lazy. 99% of their articles are clickbait and seem to be an AI's synthesis of 14 different message boards.

I bought a 614iq - very similar to the 604 - from Marina Pool and Spa. Very easy to work with them and deal with them.
I am presently working on a warranty claim, as the robot started to only move in circles. Turns out this is not uncommon. Talked to Fluidra on Friday and got a proper claim number etc. They said I could take it to any Leslies or Pinch-a-Penny for warranty work.
Went to the Leslies I have some confidence in and they have ~8 other cleaners in the pipeline ahead - est. 3 weeks to look at it. I'll try Pinch-a-Penny on 620 (near Anderson Mill HEB) today.
Had mine successfully serviced under warranty at Pinch a Penny. It took less than a week and Fluidra covered the costs. Failed motor block.
The tech there highlighted his preference for Maytronics products (Dolphin) over Fluidra (Polaris, Evo 614, Zodiac, Jandy, etc.). Perhaps it is because that's what they sell. Perhaps it's because they are more reliable. Who knows? Service and attention to the customer were good.
He did say that I'd be better off buying a new one if the motor block fails again. I see the motor block is $450+ from online pool stores...
