Well that's unfortunate. Nationals are in Gulf Shores, which is less than an hour from me. Would've been fun to go cheer on Texas in person

Yes, and that's the last year they'll be there.  They're moving to Hermosa Beach in 2025.

Yeah volleyball is different. D1 is 12 schollies, D2 8, and NAIA 8. None for D3. All schollies for D1 have to be full ride. No partials. D2 are usually partial. Some levels are allowed to split with academic scholarships. There are usually around 16 kids a roster.

We have been to almost no camps or showcases. She went to one camp her club hosted last season and that's it. The traction she has gotten has been from social media or eyeball tests. The cool part of vball is the direct, across the net visuals. For example, the number 1 player in the country at our age group is Henley Anderson from Drippings Springs. She is a 6'3 Outside Hitter. We played her club team last year and there were 41 recruiters standing around the court. While they are watching her they are also seeing yours too. My daughter hit a ball so hard off the top of one of her teammate's head that it went two courts over. On Friday we leave for a tournament in KC. It's a NIT called The Tripe Crown. There are roughly 5000 clubs in the US and The Triple Crown invites the top 100. So almost all the best kids are in the same place. Last year it drew over 300 recruiters. Huge platform for your kid to be seen, but def nerve-wracking with all the recruiters standing around the court watching and taking notes.

Yeah, Indoor volleyball is unique compared to almost all other girls sports.  Less camps/etc, more recruiting from the National level tournaments.  Beach is inline with soccer.  Unless you're top 50ish players you're not going to hear much, if anything, from coaches.  We've been road warriors as well, multiple college showcases.  My daughter emails all her schools (Tier 1, 2 and 3) once every two weeks or so but it's like blackhole and you hear almost nothing back.

The advice to not giving up if it doesn't happen June 15th is key, and our club director said the same.  There will be a lot of girls that get committed early, but the schools then start working through their lists.  Also, just because you don't get a call doesn't mean you shouldn't call.  Be proactive, communicate regularly.  Although, right now being in the no contact phase is super frustrating as you have zero ideas where you stand.

Our record will look halfway decent based simply on weak SOS, but only 16 duals isn't enough.

I'm shocked how little they're playing. For others reference, most play twice that many duals

Most of the big girl schools start play in 2.5 weeks, we don't even have a fucking schedule yet. We're not even on LSU's schedule, looks like TCU is the only top program we'll play this season.

That's a bit shocking because scheduling is done so late for beach, you'd think we could have scheduled some top teams.  W/o a conference tournament and if we're playing a weak schedule, we may not get an at large bid for the tourney.

Bad overhyped DEs/OLBs are a pet peeve of mine.  Chaisson wasn't good and was a net negative when you consider him vs the run.  OU has had a handful of overhyped DEs that almost single-handedly let worse Texas teams beat them.  Eric Stryker comes to mind, and he was voted as an All-American.  For whatever reason, sports media loves the dudes who can get upfield quickly even when the run goes right into the giant gap they just opened.

This is 100% about getting an in with D-line recruits from the Atlanta area, which has a knack for producing some good ones. This guy is from there and recruited plenty of guys from there to WKU. And the NFL experience is an even bigger plus. Whole lot of stupid in this thread. I think it’s a great hire.

    Oh fuck

500 pages should be the new target. This thread is filled to the brim with rambling idiocy and, despite everyone's best efforts, we didn't even come close to 500. Frankly, I blame guys like fatkid and golfclap for disappearing.

That plus Machinator and the merging of back to back posts. Hell katifd's quintuple post shit wouldn't help any more

  8. Not to pile on, but once you have a plan for the immediate financial problems you need to be prepared for when he gets out.  My brother basically bankrupted my dad multiple times because of his drug issues.  It took a couple decades for my father to cut him off and he paid the price greatly with his retirement (and me and my sibling's college funds).

HELOC seems like the easiest play here.  Whatever you do, get out from under that high interest debt.
