The original creators of it are, not pleased.

Zucker: Pat, Mike and I wrote a script for Naked Gun 4, and we heard Jon Gonda at Paramount had read the script and laughed all the way through it. But somewhere along the line, they decided not to go with Pat and Mike and me. So that’s when they got Seth MacFarlane, and he has Akiva Schaffer directing Liam Neeson. I was never able to meet with Seth.

Proft: I’m not happy — and there’s a story with it. But I’m not pleased. It may come out and may be great — and good for that — but I sure as fuck should be writing it. I should have done this one.

Zucker: About four years ago, Pat and I had one meeting over at Paramount with the then-head of production there. It was a woman who complained about some joke that Pat and I wrote about a police officer having to adjust her Kevlar vest or have a breast reduction or something. It’s just a stupid, mild joke, but that was too much for them. So I can’t even imagine how they’re limiting whoever does Naked Gun 4, if they’re that frightened. We’re not involved, and we’ve repurposed what was going to be Naked Gun 4 — as we called it, Counterintelijence, spelled with one L and a J — and we’re going to go out with that one.

Proft: We’ve been totally blocked out of it. The unfortunate part of it is that Paramount owns it, so they can do what they fucking want. So that’s it.

Some movies hit you over the head with an anvil.  Some use a scalpel.  Some movies like to preach at you and some like to ask questions and invite reflection and examination.  Most people are either plot driven, character driven, or vibe/setting driven.  I'm a character guy myself, but ultimately you like what you like.  No shame in that.

Sure - Zone of Interest wasn't introducing a brand new concept.  But what I liked about the film is how it went about showing its point.  The sounds of Auschwitz were going on constantly - did you key in on them, or did you eventually find yourself adapting and tuning them out?  We know Nazis are evil - but that evil is presented in a different way.  The family is otherwise ordinary, but for the absolutely confounding fact that they seem totally unfazed by what is happening all around them.  Grandma only lasts a few days before having to bail, so we know that the awfulness of what is happening is perceptible to others.  So why are these people so immune?  Dad is consumed with advancing his career.  He wants recognition for his work, more titles, more respect, more worth.  Mom is invested in her kids and is willing to go to great lengths to ensure they have the best environment to live in, according to her eyes.  Wouldn't you agree that the pursuit of professional success, and the way parents get myopic and absorbed by what they perceive to be the best for their children, transcend Nazi Germany and would be in operation today?  If so, what are some things that your are absorbed in?  What is distracting you from the presence of evil around you?

I get why this film might not be liked or leave someone feeling it is lacking in plot, but to reduce it "banality of evil, I get it" is to do a great disservice to what makes the film worthwhile.

Forget about it someguy it's helobious

Oh, I see. It's hilarious because you edited my post to make it look like I want to bang a dude.

Dang, you really got me there!

It's hilarious because you posted a stupid worn out trope that long ago ran its course that further runs this thread off the rails with everyone's "ooh ooh let me tell you who i wouldn't fuck lolol" I'd respect you if you bothered to actually number everyone but putting x's is just pointless.

  4. I'd say a big part of it is a generational thing with the 1 and done mentality. Since they were a child it's been drilled into their head that basketball is a transactional exercise, you play you get paid AAU and college are just steps along the way to getting a big contract. In the end its become just another job something you do because someone will pay you money not because you love doing it. I'm no Kobe fan and sure he had other interests but he lived and breathed basketball all the Kentucky shitheads like KAT and Anthony Davis just wanna tweet about it and collect their money and fame.

Now I just sound like a bitter old person talking about how great it used to be back in my day.

There's enough value in free deliveries for me to keep Prime. Plus there's the occasional great series like The Boys.

For whatever reason I missed the Vikings when it first came out, probably because too many people were talking about how great it is. I'm now towards the end of season 3 and thoroughly hooked.

    It gets worse
