Murphy at 16 is a good indicator that that mock is total horse shit.
Murphy has been rising on internet mocks after comments made by Jim Nagy that Murphy is going to go significantly higher than people have him right now. Expectation is he is going to show out at Senior Bowl and will test exceptionally well at the combine.
Also - that mock is from Dane Bugler, one of the most well-respected and well-connected mock draft guys.

No idea if this guy knows anything. But if he's hiring Akina as the DC - lord help him.

Well then he’s not better than the last 2 Tulane coaches. He’s certainly not better than Willie Fritz
NM. I was the one confused. Agreed - Willie Fritz is the shit

You mean the HC now at Houston?
No, Jon Sumrall. Took a troy team that had won 5 games for three straight seasons and got them to 12 and 11 wins the last two.

All due respect to Mr. Nansen - was he on anybody's radar as a HC candidate? Anywhere? Because that seems like a mistake if its just to placate players and 'hold together roster'. That school in College Station tried that - offseason hasn't quite gone how they had hoped.
Texas will just go out and hire another LB coach. But Arizona might hire a guy, who no one thought of as head coach material, because of a hashtag.

Maybe there is little difference, but it feels like an assistant DL coach in the NFL could be a little more flexible in departing before the conclusion of the season compared to the main position coach. Or at minimum announce the hire and let him finish out his duties. Of course this is assuming it is Rod Wright.
Pretty important hire and we have junior days coming up/2024 dudes in limbo.
I think it probably depends on the head coach. I'm sure there are plenty of coaches who don't want any distractions - not even an assistant DL coach leaving. Someone is going to have to replace the work the leaving assistant was doing and I doubt a Head Coach in the playoffs would be thrilled by the idea of changing things up.

I’m guessing the choice is Tracy Rocker. Spent over 20 years coaching and developing DL in college. 6 years in the league and was headed back to college before he got the offer from the Eagles two years ago. Lots of SEC experience.
Dl coach at Arkansas, Ole Miss, Auburn, Georgia, Tennessee, and South Carolina.

OU and Strong? Uhm... that's not a very encouraging resume.
Agreed. But Sark's WR coach hire's resume was nearly non-existent. Chris Jackson had one year as a WR coach and a couple years as an asst WR coach (with no college experience) before Sark picked him to lead his WR room.

What has Bjorn accomplished to warrant consideration? Figured his next, and final, job would be Sam Houston...
Don't you put that evil on Sam Houston - they've done nothing to deserve that.

Green Bay Packers coach. They thought he’d be free by now. ☹️
Forgive me is this was just a Cowboys joke - but are you talking about Jerry Montgomery (former Oklahoma DL coach)? They also have a Defensive Analyst, Wendel Davis, who spent a year at Texas under Strong as an analyst working with the DL before going to Georgia as a Grad Asst and then eventually Green Bay. Played at Arkansas.

Yeah one of the recenet 9.95 updates was worded in a way that made me think it could be a situation like that.
Probably can't apply to college teams but I also read the Falcons are blocking interview requests for Nielsen.
Yes - they are going to give whoever the next coach is the option to retain him.

Yes, but, Bobby needed a a recruiting guy on his show. He’s obviously not as polished as Gerry was, but compared to some of the heavy-breathers who populate the 995er market, I don’t think he’s too bad.

A big part of this is how well Sark thinks the OLine will hold up in pass protection. If he feels good about it, then he can afford to detach that TE and go 4 wides far more often. I don't think he ever felt great with Christian Jones in pass protection. He got beat like a drum in the sugar bowl against that Washington DE on passing downs. Cam Williams should be better there.
The Washington DE (Braelen Trice) led the country in pressures.

Nahlin reporting that Jabbar Muhammad will visit Texas Weds/Thurs.
Nahlin adds that if Texas loses it won’t be because of NIL.
Thinks it’s 50/50 right now.

Yeah, I think it is dumb given that we are worried about having the resources for a portal TE. Plus, we need a DT as well.
Heisman-level QB and one of the best offensive minds in football coaching the team - it’s an attractive situation for any receiver who hits the portal. Why not take advantage of that? I understand resources aren’t unlimited - but if WR is where the quality is - I’d rather funds go there than pay for some middling DT who is attractive only because we’re desperate
Also, I think Sark wants Quinn to throw for 4k yards.

2024 Texas Football Coaching and Support Staff Thread
in 🤫$9.95🤫
Posted
I was bored and went through the coaching staffs for each of the remaining playoff teams. Listed below are the coaches who seemed like possibilities to me (but I'm an idiot). They all have some college coaching experience and in the case of one an extensive HS coaching background. A couple of entries have pretty light resumes but have long NFL careers.
Houston Texans:
Jacques Cesaire DL coach - 5 years at Univ of San Diego as DL coach, 9 years as DE for San Diego Chargers
Rod Wright Asst DL Coach
Green Bay Packers:
Jerry Montgomery DL coach -11 years in college at OU, Michigan, Wyoming. Last 9 years in NFL
Detroit Lions:
John Scott Jr. DL Coach - First year in Detroit. Previously coached at Penn St., South Carolina, and Arkansas
Wayne Blair QC - Long time Florida HS head coach, spent last two years coaching DLine in Detroit. Played at Tulane and CFL
Buffalo Bills:
Marcus West Asst D-Line - Prior to joining Bills in 2022 spent 14 years as college D-Line coach (Charlotte, Minn, Austin Peay)
San Francisco 49ers:
Darryl Tapp Asst D-Line - 12 year NFL veteran. Coached D-Line at V-Tech for 2 seasons. Joined 49ers in 2022.
