Nahlin (IT) mentioning FAU WR LaJohntay Wester as another possible option for Texas. Wester went into the portal back on Dec 15 and had had visits to Colorado and Florida St.
100+ catches for 1100+ yards this season
https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/lajohntay-wester-1.html
Wester has a brother, Jaylen Wester , a LB also at FAU who entered the portal a few days ago.

Nahlin (IT) is putting in a CB / RPM (80%) for Houston DT Jamaree Caldwell to sign with Texas.
Nahlin said they have no update on CJ Daniels (Liberty WR visiting Texas today), but that Texas is still evaluating multiple WRs, TEs, and DBs.
In answer to a question from a poster - Nahlin says that Dorian Singer is another receiver they are having discussions with.

It feels like he’s just trying to fill out an 85 man roster, regardless of quality.
This. By the time the portal window closed, and the recruiting class imploded, Melk-O was down to something like 60 scholarship athletes. They need bread just to field a team.

Got to be approaching 20 portal additions.
Lowest rated of the 5 Florida LBs with 100 snaps.

For all of Watts faults - mostly a lack of speed - he was the best run defender at the position and he was more than willing to scrape paint on his helmet (which makes his unwillingness to try safety all the more puzzling).

It’s always interesting what the motivation is of a third/fourth string QB. Isn’t Wright a local guy?
Yes - Austin High. I expect he'll go somewhere close, at a lower level, where he may have a chance to compete for a starting spot.
Sam Houston would welcome him with 'Arms Wide Open'.

What's everyone's infatuation with Akina coming back here...I just don't get it.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duane_Akina
Seriously though - there have been so many bad years in the secondary people are nostalgic for what it was like during the Akina years. The guy is 67 years old and in semi-retirement, while I think he'd be a nice add as an analyst - I don't think he's going to move the needle too much when it comes to performance. And he spent 13 years in Arizona before coming to Texas - so he might not be as nostalgic for Austin as Texas fans are for him.

This is interesting, it says he's a Walk-on... was he taking a scholarship? I didn't know walk-ons had to delcare.
Walk-ons enter the transfer portal like everyone else. That’s why the total numbers for the portal are inflated - they include walk-ons.

do you not know what wish cast means?
Yes, which is why the post I was responding to didn’t make any sense. Neither of those (Nansen and Singer) would be wish-casting. That’s why I clarified Singer was in the portal - thinking maybe the poster was unaware.

I sang it as I read it.

Fuck Singer, let’s get McMilian! If we’re going to wish cast
McMillan isn't in the portal - Singer is.

Nahlin posted that if Nansen is the choice at LB coach he probably has a pretty good evaluation of just how good (or not) Dorian Singer is. Might be he enters the conversation for Texas.
For those that don't remember - Dorian Singer had a big year for Arizona in 2022 and was one of the top WRs to enter the portal after the season. USC won the recruitment and then Singer went on to have a very underwhelming season with the Trojans.

Here’s a shift, Ryan Watts will not be returning to the program.
We’re unsure if he’s going to enter the the portal or go the professional route.
Bullets are flying fast, ITers.Anyone got a link to that spreadsheet of the Texas roster by class?

Do you really think we're going to pay that much more for an LB coach?
As I said, I'm down, especially if he brings Akina.
The only think I can think of is that they think PK will be gone after next year and they want to have a replacement on staff.
Just as additional info - Sark pulled Nansen out of Idaho and hired him as a Special Teams Coordinator/DL coach on his initial staff at Washington. Sark moved him to RBs after a couple of seasons and then brought him with to USC and gave him the Assistant Head Coach title. If he moves to Texas I would assume that he will get one of those AHC type titles to justify the money above just being a LB coach.
Nansen's daughter is also at Texas already in the football office.
Nansen and Sark are apparently close.
SEC is a step up from the new Big 12.

Is Kaidon Salter not heading to Auburn?
Doesn't look like anyone is reporting that yet - but I'm so fucking dumb I didn't make that possible connection. That would suck.

CJ Daniels should be an interesting recruitment. We've been told that one of Freeze's biggest selling points to the 2024 class was that this year is a rebuild and that he expects young players opportunity to win jobs for 2024. He also doesn't have an established starter (worth a damn) at QB.
If it just comes down to money - and Freeze wants him - then ok we move on.
But...
If he's looking at opportunity and situation - Texas has the AD Mitchell role wide open for him to step in to and he'll have a Heisman favorite QB (given time by an established and experienced OL) to throw him a ridiculous amount of TDs.

Bobby 9.95'n as hard as he ever has.
I'm saying Caldwell and Daniels.

FWIW - I saw last night that Brandon Harris and JM Jones (Asst Dir of Player Personnel) were following Liberty WR and recent portal entrant CJ Daniels. Just this morning Taylor Searels (Dir of Recruiting Operations) started following him. Maybe a visit is in the works?

Do you know the numbers for Sweat and Murphy last year? They both made significant jumps, which makes me wonder how Collins and Caldwell this season compare to Sweat and Murphy last season.
Here are the 2022 grades for Texas DL:
And here are where they ranked nationally (2022):
B Murphy: 29th
T Sweat: 52nd
A Collins: 250th
