  1. My wife and I are trying to figure out a way to lower our taxes. This past year was a real eye opener for us and I know we can make some improvements on how to help with our tax situation. Here is our story.

My wife works from home as an external consultant for a bank and makes about 80k a year pretax. She must pay both employee and employer payroll taxes (15.6% ? ). We went to an H&R block consultant and she was amazed we owed so much for our combined income but did not have any suggestions that seemed helpful. The only thing she said was my wife could ONLY put 12k a year max into her retirement (we found out later through my Vanguard advisor she was ill-informed.)

To lower our tax burden, here is what we did LAST year....I maxed out my 401k. We itemize her home deductions but they did not amount to much at all...Thats about it...She put nothing into her retirement account. She currently still has a 401k through her former employer but cant contribute to it.

THIS year I will max out my 401k and she has been informed to start a solo-401k? via our vanguard advisor. She is in the process of getting her EIN from the social security website ? and then can save up to 25% of her income pretax. She will rollover her old 401k into an IRA I believe...

    My questions are...

Is this the right path for her/us ? We itemize her office deductions but they are not a lot. She has a home office but really the square footage she puts is not much and doesnt amount to much in terms of savings. Should she form an LLC company ? Is the solo 401k path the best path to take to save as much money as possible ? What else can we do that will significantly lower our tax burden?

It seems like we are missing something big here as our overall joint tax rate after deductions last year was 22%. It was ridiculous.

    Thanks

    - Could we take a short break? - No.
Are you telling me that your relationship began two years ago and not in february, as you previously testified to here?

    - Line.

    - I'm sorry, what? He asked for a line, like in a play.
    "Mr.
Scott, do you realize you just contradicted yourself?" "I did?" "Yes.
" "Can I go to the bathroom?" "I really have to.
I've been drinking lots of water.
" "You went 5 minutes ago.
" "It wasn't to go to the bathroom.
"but to get out of a question.
    " "You've to answer it.
" "First, can I go to the bathroom?" "No.

  3. What is hate is the slippery slope argument.

Common sense gun laws.....Fox news cries out that the government is coming to take your guns. It amazes me how many people believe it.

Abortion issue. Both sides are guilty. You have some liberals who are for partial birth abortions because it is a woman's right to choose and if they say no to partial birth abortions, then abortions in general will be outlawed. Some republicans are probably ok with plan B would never say anything to their conservative friends for fear of being labeled a godless heathen.

Personally I think the people who dont go down the slippery slope are cowards.

I am for common sense gun laws.

I am also ok with abortions in the first trimester only. Being a dad made me a bit more conservative in that regard but I am still pro-choice...right ?

  4. I was in a band while I was at UT in the mid 90s. Sang in the choir there too. We did all of our recordings at home and used Cakewalk. Played on 6th street for a few years before being forced to grow up and start a real job. I am hoping 1 day to set up a studio at my house and just write and record. Right now Im in work, fmaily and saving for retirement mode so its a number of years off still. Love the thread. Maybe Ill upload some of our old songs if I can find them on to youtube and let yall listen.

  5. Watching this with my wife, who is from Mexico, all I can think about is my seething discontent for the USMNT and how they have deprived me of my World cup experience. I am disgusted by them and hope they all are replaced. They can keep Pulisic I guess.

  6. Disagree on U2 Def Leppard and DMB. Loved them back then love them now. Dont really care for their new shit as much but I still listen to their old stuff all the time. All time great bands.

Def Leppard with Pyromania and Hysteria. Every song on Hysteria could be a top 100 hit. U2 with the albums mentioned above.

Im sorry but this recording is nuts.

Dave Matthews Under the table and Before these crowded streets were just awesome. Can listen to them for hours.

This thread is for bands like Poison and Nirvana

  7. PUDDY: Let’s finish this up.

JERRY: Did you two break up?

PUDDY: That chick’s whacked. We’re history. I just left out a couple of things:

    rust-proofing..

    JERRY: "Rust-proofing"?

PUDDY:  Transport charge, storage surcharge, additional overcharge, finder’s fee

JERRY: "Finder’s fee"? It was on the lot!

PUDDY: Yeah, that’s right.  Floor mats, keys..

    JERRY: ‘Keys"?!

PUDDY: How ya gonna start it?

  8. Anyone by chance posted that they smell the top of their butt crack to gauge their cleanliness ? Because I googled it and there is no one. Not a single person on the planet that does this. It makes me feel like Im weird. And I fucking love the smell too. Like a strange and exotic chocolate. My wife wanted to call in to the Kidd Kraddick show some years ago and tell them about it on the "Does that make me crazy" part of their show. I absolutely told her she couldnt.
