Possible Unpopular opinion alert.
Bottles that have languished on my bar because I just don’t dig em:
Russel’s Reserve 10 Year
Legent
Maker’s Mark Private Select
Four Roses Small Batch Select
Pure Kentucky Small Batch
I don’t think you’ll get any flak for that.
RR10 is just not good in my opinion. SiB owns it and it’s not even close.
Legent is a unique profile. I dig it but I know plenty who don’t and won’t hold it against anyone because like I said it’s a very different taste.
Never been a fan of Makers
4R SBS is a solid bottle. Wish it were about $10 cheaper but it’s a bottle I feel extremely confident in recommending to others
Pure Kentucky mixes great with Drano..... -
Every time Texas D misses a tackle, do a shot of Mellow Corn.

I had two 2018 130th.....that was the best I had ever had and I’m now kicking myself for not having set some aside for comparison because like Bert said, several people I know said 2019>2018. Damn my lack of self control
-
As mentioned above, ER changed the label and dropped the 10 year neck label but it is still on the backside

Grab that Larceny barrel proof as well. Tasty stuff. Not a fan of their small batch offering but the BP is tits -
Don’t forget those 2 KC Goody picks we stumbled upon a couple of years ago.
God those were amazing
Still have the one hidden in the very back of the closet so I don’t do something stupid like drink half of it in one night......again -
I had a superb Total Wine pick before. I wonder if it was the same barrel? I bought at the TW Galleria location last year.
This one was two years ago and exclusive to the Hulen store I believe because they had the barrel on display. It was heavily ripe with very dark chocolate and a slight hint of leather. If I ever find another I’ll trade my son for it. -
I will agree with Bozo for the most part, but the best store pick I’ve ever had was a 1792 FP barrel #505 from TW. Good god that was majestic

After watching Spencer Rattler today, Bowman may be the best QB we see this year and the game was in Lubbock. Purdy and that new TCU QB suck. Is Brewer healthy? We have a lot to fix on D but gottdam, I am happy.
You’re happy because you’re a retard that just found a crayon between the couch cushions to snack on. We just went to OT with the team that barely beat Houston fucking Baptist by two goddamned points. HOUSTON FUCKING BAPTIST. Fuck Herman and fuck you.- 1

What are we celebrating? That we had to scrape out a win by a red cunt hair against the same team that barely beat Houston Baptist by two???? If I had any Garrison Brothers I would punish my liver with that because it would be appropriate given today’s game, but I don’t possess that nastiness so 4R single barrel will have to do.

Christ. We are struggling with a team that went down to the wire with Houston fucking Baptist. Raise your hand if you knew Houston Baptist even had a fucking football team.

Bull shit blocking on the way back
Uhhh bullshit running. You had 4 blockers and you get caught by the 6’4” 295 pound OL that’s on you- 1

I don’t know what area you live in where BT sits on the shelf but it’s not in Texas. I can make five different stops in a day and I’m lucky if one has BT.
Slorch, go back and buy more. Immediately.- 1

Nope. That’s about $250-ish more than it’s worth

RY10 should be a staple in every whiskey cabinet.

That’s interesting. I’m a Beam hater. Never had anything from them that I could stomach , but the Old Tub was not a bad purchase in my book.

Herbie is an equal opportunity brown water junkie. Ancient Age? Sure. Rock Hill Farms? You bet. Old Charter? Yep. Blantons Gold? You bet your ass...

Haven’t had that one, but have been curious how it is.
This one on on the other hand is straight turpentine. Kinda figured it would be with how little I paid for it.
The Texas Wheated and True Blue Cask Strength are my two favorite Balcones expressions. I’ll be honest I’m a Balcones fanboy but the second I saw that Pot Still release I told myself no way that’s anything I want a part of. Had it at their tasting room on my way home from the hunting at the farm last year and my suspicions were confirmed.
For as good as the Balcones boys can be, they’re very hit or miss. Put the Pot Still in the “miss” category along with Baby Blue. -
I’ve avoided this one like the plague as it’s my last bottle. Now I remember why. Good lord this is a vanilla bomb and dangerously smooth for 122 proof. If you can make the distillery this year for the release I highly encourage you to do so- 1

Heads up, I just got two of these at Premier Fine Wine and Liquor on w. 18th in Houston. 4 bottles left right now. $55.99 each

These hit about 3 months ago in DFW and were snatched up in about two days. Very good stuff. I know myself and BigD scored a couple and were both very pleased with the taste- 2

Regarding OF 150, I’d target Batches 1 and 2. Batch 3 has the flavor profile of a Bulleit rye. “Green and Dill”.
You know this firsthand? -
6 months ago I would have said no to $70, but now that the new msrp is $49 it’s a lot easier to justify in my mind. I miss the days of finding it everywhere for $29.99. Maybe Cuban rum will be the new bourbon craze

.....or maybe it was so egregious and obvious that this was murder that the Texas Rangers didn’t have to do much of an investigation. Oh wait, that’s exactly what their press release above states
