I think I've been pushed off the list of lucky people on a first name basis with Donald Trump. No emails since this one the night he announced:

    Sean,

    I emailed you.
    The Vice President emailed you.
My sons, Don Jr. and Eric, both emailed you.
    Lara emailed you.

And now I’m emailing you AGAIN because I noticed you STILL haven’t contributed to become an Official Trump 2020 Presidential Founder...

Moments ago, I announced my Second Term Presidential Run in front of the entire world. It was probably the GREATEST campaign announcement in the history of politics because of all of the incredible energy!

Make sure you’re a part of this historic day. The day we launched our campaign and DESTROYED our ambitious goal of $7,000,000.

My team is giving me the FINAL list of Presidential Founders when I get on board the plane and I expect to see your name, Sean.

Please contribute $5 or more RIGHT NOW to cement your name in history as an Official Trump 2020 Presidential Founder and help ensure we reach our huge goal.

    ------------------------------Push button donation levels-------------------------------------

You’ve always been one of my strongest supporters, Sean, and I was SHOCKED to see that your name was MISSING from the livestream on our website.

But since you’ve played such a critical role in all of our success, I wanted to give you one last chance to mark your status as an Official Trump 2020 Presidential Founder.

Contribute $5 or more by 11:59 PM TONIGHT to become an Official Trump 2020 Presidential Founder and get on the list my team hands me. >>

He's actually looking for my name on the list while he's on Air Force One! Me, Sean RomaVicta!

I'm a big strong guy. Tough guy. Maybe a cop. I have tears streaming on my face!

What in the hell are you talking about RV?

"If we are going to promote a healthcare system that flaunts adverse selection, that system is going to grind to a halt. One of the major drivers of immigration will become health care. Diagnosed with cancer?  Go North.  Need a transplant? Go North. Uncontrolled diabetes or COPD? Go North. Abuelita getting a little more forgetful and needs to be in a long-term care facility? Go North."

So people with heart conditions, cancer, and transplant needs will flood north, show up at a hospital, and receive free care? That is your prediction?

  3. 3 minutes ago, Anastasis said:

What are you asking me to substantiate exactly?  That people with expensive to treat chronic medical conditions will be drawn to a place where free comprehensive treatment is provided for those conditions with out regard to one's immigration status?

So you deduced this was happening rather than actually seeing any actual evidence?

  4. 9 minutes ago, Anastasis said:

You need to spend more time formulating this take.  Chronic conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, obesity, and neoplasm drive our health care spending. Infectious disease is relatively low on the list. If we are going to promote a healthcare system that flaunts adverse selection, that system is going to grind to a halt. One of the major drivers of immigration will become health care.

Diagnosed with cancer?  Go North.  Need a transplant? Go North. Uncontrolled diabetes or COPD? Go North. Abuelita getting a little more forgetful and needs to be in a long-term care facility? Go North. Increased costs, reduced access, worsened outcomes.

But if you are a contender on the D slate this cycle, you have to ignore common sense and raise your hand.

Can you substantiate the middle part of your post which I've separated above?

It suggests that persons in need of a transplant, suffering from cancer, and COPD are walking hundreds of miles to get health care.

Further, these aren't asylum seekers are they? Would they be admitted?

I don't know but I'd speculate it's because Pete gives off the embodiment of white privilege.  Not saying that's fair or accurate but I imagine there's some resentment about a Doogie Howser candidate that's been better educated and socially adjusted without having to overcome the institutional obstacles of a black kid.

What white candidate wouldn't that apply to?

Not this changes your point much but Howard Dean was already on a downward spiral when the scream happened. He happened after he lost Iowa, falling below expectations.

I recall that the speech was in reaction to the disappointing showing in Iowa. Thanks for recognizing it doesn't change the point about the scream causing such a big reaction and continuing to do so over the course of years. It eclipsed anything substantial about him that might sway a thoughtful person either way.

There were some amazing visuals in this ep  but yeah, eps with basically nothing happening are really making it hard to keep watching this.

Yes, there are some great shots but not to much purpose other than being great shots.

They have themselves in a narrative hole because they've basically created a world where the protagonist has no chance. That type of oppression was likely the theme of the book. Changing the male/religious world is not something an individual can do. So they're left with playing for smaller stakes.

Will Nichole stay in Canada? I don't really care. It's not why I watch. I watch for June.

Will the relationships in Canada work? I don't really care. If crying will make them work, then every American in Canada has no worries.

Will Gilead threaten Canada militarily? Sounds like Gilead has troubles dealing with resistance south of the Canadian border. Nothing has been set up to make me feel this threat to Canada. It's actually outside the story except for a Swiss guy mentioning it. Could be interesting if they turn this into a war story. They won't, so I don't care.

Also, how does people praying on TV put pressure on Canada? (see above for cursory military threat) Maybe the creative team believes that the same snappy visuals they're using to supposedly keep us interested will also work within the story to sway the Canucks. I'm not buying.

Overall, this is all about us sympathizing with reactions to losing children and loved ones. That can be truly sad. A steady diet of it becomes boring. Oh boy, meatloaf and mashed potatoes for the 100th straight day!

Bradshaw said something about having 3 5A (star) QBs and two of them leaving before saying the team's remaining QB "isn't that good.

On morning sports radio in Austin, they wondered if he was talking about Murray and Allen being the ones who left and Mond being the guy who ain't that good. Perhaps he has confused A&M with Texas. Sorta makes better sense.

  10. I remember the Reagan years. I was not a fan. A friend asked if I would shake Reagan's hand if he came to the front door. "Of course, he's still the president." My friend thought I was soft.

Now, if it were Trump, it would be difficult not to step up to him and, close to his face, say, "Liar, raper, coward, traitor."

I thought we were headed in the wrong direction in the 80's. We're getting close to arriving at a destination I could never have imagined.

    Let’s review what actually happened.

She directly answered the question.  Simple and short.

And then she went on to ADD how she plans to handle MCConnell.

Which ironically is Bernie Sanders approach to getting shit done.

Movement pressure from the outside among the people combined with internal pressure from the top.  She said the fight doesn’t end after the election, it keeps going.

Thanks for posting that. I didn't watch the "debate," but if that was her low point, she must have been stellar. I thought the answer was great. She remains my candidate.

Thats not how it works dipshit.

She verbally eviserates him, he calls her Pocahontas.  She gets bright red, makes a more detailed argument.  He sputters a few sentence fragments punctuated with socialism and Pocahontas.

You're nuts if you don't think she'll be ready for that.

So, Mr. Trump, you want to talk about honesty? Lying?

Reagan walked into the "There he goes again." trap with Mondale. Mondale and his team knew Reagan would roll that out again, and Mondale had his best (only good?) moment in the campaign during that debate. For a few seconds, it looked like it might be a race.

I didnt watch, but I bet the pandering to specific groups of races and lifestyles were hilarious. How much money did they promise these groups of people for their vote?

    Is it an Oldies Weekend?

Now we go back in time to when some people were stupid enough to believe the GOP was fiscally conservative and never pandered. We bring you the dulcet tones of Ronnie Reagan and the Laffers singing "The Death Tax Is To Help the Farmers!" That will always be a good one.

Its amazing how candidates get disqualified. Once a narrative gains traction it's all over no matter the merit.

    My favorite example:

    dean-scream.jpg

I didn't know if I wanted to vote for Dean, but having this moment disqualify is another point in time where my doubts about the electorate and the dull-minded media grew. At worst, this just should have become an amusing footnote. Maybe a goofy footnote.

    Idiot World.

Nothing at all staged or corny about that photo shoot.

And that's what we should be talking about. Did AOC overact her reaction to the concentration camp? If so, concentration camps are okay and hating AOC is even better.

We will not stand for being forced to take on the concentration camp conditions at face value. There is something underhanded about the people concerned about the issue and, how faggy, even outraged.

Just fucking look at what's actually going on. Try. Defy the conditioning to see something else.

  17. I've read many people's frustration at the wait for a new season of a beloved show. I agree.

Do any of you lose interest in a series if its hiatus is too long?

Ozark won't return until next year. Better Call Saul is the same, I believe. Those are so good, that I guess I'll rewatch the earlier seasons to catch up before the new season. But what about lesser series?

I'm barely interested enough to keep up with the Handmaid's Tale. It's narrative flaws are one thing, but waiting a long time for continuation and having no interest in reviewing previous seasons made resuming that series a marginal call.

Are there series that have lost you because of a long hiatus?

What's at stake for the streaming services if they fumble away interest due to the long periods between seasons?

    Anybody care?
