All those other QBs have one guy. Quinn has 3 AA caliber options and another all conference caliber. I dunno why y’all seem to think it’s impossible for both things (Quinn is good, his weapons make him better) to be true

Ohio state has 2 of the best wr’s in the country and a TE that has become the 2nd or 3rd best in the country.

That’s possible. He’s still an AA level college player.

Jared Wiley has more catches, yards and TD’s than sanders. Along with like 7 other TE’s. He’s really good but he’s not an AA.

Yeah, conventional wisdom says a new and inexperienced qb will have a run heavy game plan. Of course the defense would come out planning on shutting down the run. The initial game script was great for MM because he was comfortable doing what was asked.

I think there’s a bit of misunderstanding about sark’s offense. If you look back at history of Sark as an OC and HC he always makes the rb’s look really good but not all the qb’s he’s had put up impressive numbers. He’s had a 1k yard rusher every year he’s been a head coach. Jake locker, Keith Price, Casey Thompson and Hudson card did not set the world on fire. Bishop sankey, Chris Polk, javorius Allen, and now Jonathan brooks put up great numbers because sark’s offense attacks the run. That history still has people running that 3-3-5 against Quinn, even with all the guys on here saying he’s inaccurate, he can’t read defenses, his pocket presence is awful, etc. If defenses decided to give Quinn the looks that Maalik got he would put up “video game” numbers and win a heisman. Shit if we had a wr like Burton, Luther from Missouri, that kid from Florida state, Harrison jr or nabers then Quinn would have better numbers. Mitchell is good but he’s soft, worthy is not a 50/50 guy, and Whittington isn’t blowing the top off a defense. All our so called threats are dangerous as long as our qb gets the ball in a good spot, if not then they kind of disappear. Those other guys I watch go make play for their qb routinely. McCord is a shitty qb but Harrison bails his ass out A LOT. I have no idea who the Missouri qb is lol.

Well let’s not go insane here.

I mean as an actual TE, sanders should be a H-back but sark doesn’t use that position. Helm is a bonafide all around TE which means that position will be an upgrade next year. The receiving threat will be difficult to replace because sanders is a hell of an athlete but helm showed he’s capable already.

that’s got nothing to do with who is a better football player time now.

seeing as QE is far superior to maalik, no, of course i do not think we’d be 11-1 with maalik starting. what’s that got to do with where QE ranks among our best players?

you’re making my point about the greatness of his supporting cast. we lose bijan we don’t miss a beat; we lose j brooks and we still don’t miss a beat; we lose QE for two games and we win both games. this team is extremely talented, and QE is nowhere near the top of the list. he’s still a good QB, but he has up to 10+ teammates who are better, more consistent players. beyond this, quinn’s mediocre national rankings as cited in my post above only look even worse when considering all of the talent he is surrounded with.

Well he missed two games so his stats are clearly going to be lower than those guys you cited who haven’t missed any time. We only beat k-state because kleiman is a fucking moron. Our rb’s move on and we don’t miss a beat is because sark is really good. Our qb play clearly went down without Quinn, so brooks is not the difference maker you claim him to be by that argument. Sanders is an inline TE who can’t block. Gunnar helm is going to be better than sanders, there’s two off your list without even trying hard. Murphy is good because sweat takes all the attention, that’s not talking shit because I like him a lot. If you remove any of those guys we have a chance to win games with Quinn. If you remove Quinn we don’t have a chance in hell to win 11 games.

sweat, murphy, brooks, ford, worthy, mitchell, banks, sanders, hill, barron. that’s 10. there might be more.

Banks is the only guy that might be drafted higher than Quinn, and that’s a big might. Ford? Sanders who can’t block? You think if we lost Quinn for the entire season we would be 11-1 still with those guys and Maalik? You know we lost brooks and still rushed for the same yards as when he was playing? This is madness

I mean he’s one of the like 10-20 best QBs of all time. Cool your jets there guy

    Incredible. Seconded

The world of college football is fickle, recently I’ve seen that baker mayfield is now considered the best college qb ever. Multiple lists show him and cam newton above Vince, that’s pure lunacy but it is what it is.

Thank you for posting the comparisons. I had to hold a ladder for the wifey so I had to walk away but this is what I was going to look up. It’ll be hard for QE to match Colt but half of that is because colt stuck around for his senior year and QE certainly will not. Can you imagine QE getting better for two more seasons like frosh to soph year? Texas would be the hands down fav to win it all his senior year. As it stands we will be one of the favorites next year.

and lets not forget Colt had continuity and a NC culture in place when he took over.

again, I don’t know how QE finishes his career better than Colt and certainly no one can be better than VY. But QE is a stellar sophomore QB.

Colt threw more INT’s as sophomore than Quinn may throw his entire career. Colt couldn’t beat Aggy or k-state consistently to save his fucking life. His deep ball was awful. He was just a gamer tho, will to win like no other but he was not some transcendent qb that college football drools over. He’s a legend at Texas but most of college football has forgotten him already. If Quinn played all 4 years here under Sark he would leave with every record possible and a couple heisman visits. I say all that to agree with you and disagree with Derka lol.

I'm a big Ewers fan, but his lack of field vision has been a recurring theme going back to last year. He is who he is at this point. He's great if things are schemed up for him and sometimes he can even thread some balls into tight windows, but when it comes to creating on his own, he isn't that.

I appreciate the fact that he's the best we've had since Colt, but I also believe that distinction will be short-lived.

Hopefully he balls out the rest of the way, then comes back and makes major strides over the off-season to become a first round draft pick in the 2025 NFL draft.

Man, it’s been discussed on here plenty of times. Sark expects his qb’s to run a nfl style offense. The routes are deep and take good timing with a big arm to make them regularly. Our OL is not built across the starting 5 just yet for Quinn to be able to confidently put his eyes down field without fear of being raped. There are almost always 5 DB’s against 3 or 4 wr’s. Once he gets to the nfl and they stop that bullshit defense on every down he is going to tear shit up. Brooks doesn’t have 1100 yards without Quinn being the starter. If Quinn were playing in that back yard football offense that Riley runs he would have the numbers too, look what happens when Williams plays a good defense. He turns to shit, he’s going to struggle in the nfl just like every other qb who runs a gimmicky college offense in order to get stats.

I have something to tell you about the sec fans we are about to encounter…you may to sit down for this one.

  10. He’s still injured, he has to play because maalik is absolutely fucking trash. It’s crazy to shit on him for playing through his injuries to help the team win.  The reason he doesn’t throw a ton of INT’s is because he’s cautious with the ball and now that he can’t run when it’s there due to his shoulder then he eats some sacks that he normally wouldn’t. Surly is a wild place lol. Bitchin about our starting qb on a 11-1 football team after being 5-7 and losing to Kansas not long ago. Well done guys.
