  1. I watched bandera play Ingleside tonight, it was a good game till middle of the 3rd. Ingleside has a wr named smith that tied the state/national (couldn’t hear the announcer clearly) TD record with 39 on the year. Unbelievable. I think Ingleside will get their asses whipped by wimberley.

This is the same mother fucker who was hoping we would get upset by Kansas state during the game and now he’s “worried” about our legitimate chances to make the CFP?!? The 180 that so many people do is obnoxious, let’s worry about tomorrow then the day after that. Playoffs? Playoffs

I am glad we have Quinn, but I also remember Heisman rumbles early in the season.  He looks great at times, and as has been mentioned many times, has learned to throw the ball away.  The sort of things players learn after a year and a half as a starter.  But if I am being honest, flashes of brilliance are not why you take an early pick on a QB in the NFL.  Look at Quinn's TCU games the last two years.  Would you draft him off of those specific performances?  Last year obviously a big No, this year? A great half, followed by a 3 point 49 yard field goal?  I would also worry about Quinn's size and durability if I am an NFL manager.

The one thing I was sort of surprised about is that unlike so many of our QB's Quinn has not gotten bigger and packed on the muscle that will help his durability.  He reminds me a lot of Shane Buechele except a little smaller (and playing behind a decent OL).  So there is certainly a path for Quinn to the NFL.  I will give Quinn a little breather room coming off and injury, for his performance against TCU.  But the bottom line is, putting up 3 points in a half as an elite top flight QB, is not exactly confidence building, especially from and NFL perspective.

Now if Quinn comes out and lights the world on fire the next two weeks and kicks ass in the bowl (praying for Playoff here) game, then he can raise his stock.  But right now I look at him as a very talented not too durable.  It also might also be useful to remember that Quinn was expected to push CJ Stroud out as the starter at Ohio State.

All that being said I think somebody in the NFL will draft him this year.  I am still uncertain that he truly bleeds burnt orange, which is the main reason a player would return.  I think he has matured and realized what a great opportunity he has here at Texas.  But is that a respect for the program and a desire to better his future? Or has he fallen in love with the place? I hope it's the latter as much as the former, but I don't think anyone knows the real answer here.

I just want us to have a QB that can lead us not only in the first half, but in the second half as well to step on the neck of the opponent.  Quinn has an opportunity to show us this killer instinct this weekend.

CJ stroud was 10/26 for 76 yards and no TD's against northwestern in 2022. If you took just that performance would he be a first round pick? He threw 1 td against maryland and penn state with the best receivers in all of college football and probably a top 5 OL. The nfl only cares about potential. Quinn's potential is through the roof.

You are a bigger beating than me and that’s saying something.

So you weren't a tcu stan? You did think we would be 9-1 right now? We do have 2-3 wtf losses this year? I blame myself for this lol

I think people like to think they right and move goal posts to make their point.

If you think barely beating UofH and TCU is good/bad you are right or wrong. We have two great wins so far: Bama and KState.

Despite a roster that is, overall, the best in the Big12, we aren’t yet ready to dominate crappy teams convincingly  but somehow we are ready to win a CFP?  Honestly this is a down year for the Big12 and our easiest path to a CFP we are likely to have. I would love for us to make the CFP and win. I’d have loved for us to beat OU and once again not just awaiting the outcome of a handful of other games. We are not yet good enough that just winning out gets us in.

I don’t want to be “back.” I want to have year over year dominance. as many have mentioned with recruiting/NIL/portal we are on the right track.

The last few weeks have shown me, though, that we aren’t there yet. 3 barely won games of blown leads have shown me we are not ready yet. Bama showed us what we can certainly be—able to beat anyone.

I have to be patient and trust that what we are building is sound and that we won’t drop 2-3 wtf losses each year. I am impressed that games we absolutely lose last year we have found a way to win this year. That’s progress period.  That’s due to the roster. I just don’t think we are there yet. Which is a shame because as I have said, this appeared to be the  “easiest” path to CFP we are likely to have.

    TLDR: that’s too bad .

I would believe all this if you hadn't been a sonny dykes stan alllllllllll of last year. It's exactly what they did damn near every game and you reminded us constantly that TCU was having a run of success that we should be able to have. Now that we are doing what they did it's not as cool? Soon there will be a 12 team playoff and the CFP will be easier to get to year in and year out even with multiple losses in a year. Can you point to the 2-3 wtf losses we have this year? At the beginning of the year you thought we would be 9-1 after 10 games and leading the big 12 standings?

  6. Why would any longhorn fans on surly ever predict us to lose to iowa state? So you can come on here Sunday morning, “well I was right” in your fucking eyore voice? Fuck you, fuck that, and I hope you smash your balls/pussy on something hard.

  7. I’d guess from the same place that gave us the term “embarrassing win.” Just pure bullshit, first our team isn’t winning “good enough” and now our conference somehow can’t compete with anybody lol.

I'm still firm in the belief that Quinn is not getting drafted next year, regardless of him declaring. He still has so much to prove on the field. For those of you who think he's a first round draft pick right now, what tape are you watching? What games are you watching? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills reading some of these comments. Look I'm not trying to knock the kid but he's not a first round pick.

You watched Anthony Richardson, Kenny Pickett, Jordan love, Josh Rosen, Paxton lynch or even Jonny Manziel and thought oh for sure first round draft picks? You’re high if you Quinn doesn’t have the arm talent alone to be taken in the first round. Did I just feed a troll? Fuck

There are levels here. Texas defense is not bad. It is good, but it does have a weakness in pass defense. Texas has not really faced many that can exploit that weakness.  4 of the 10 teams have played back-up QBs vs Texas.  While the Texas secondary is not loaded with talent, it is certainly better than the vast majority of Big 12 teams. I think it is completely fair to say the Texas pass defense is under-performing this year.

yeah I agree that they could play better, and they have plenty of talent to be successful which I would argue they have been so far, albeit with a few black eyes. I think in PK's scheme not having a true pass rusher hurts a ton, burke is damn good but he's pretty banged up so when he needs a break we are kind of fucked.

Crap. Didn't even realize this until you posted it for the 12th time. It's really sunk in now.

Yeah that soft ass PK defense giving up 18 ppg really needs to be sorted out lol. The 2008 and 2009 defenses gave up 16 & 18 ppg with about double the depth chart talent as we have currently. If we could add orakpo, sergio kindle, or earl thomas to this roster it would almost solve our problems instantly. We can't so I'm content with stopping the run, stopping the big explosive plays, and winning ugly if need be. It is what it is.

I think the only thing is title runs from here on out, you can't have a strategy that isn't that now. That shouldn't be too hard since it's a 12 team playoff now though.

I remember you mentioning quinn's NIL drying up, if the news of him returning is true does that get sorted out or could that be a problem?

We beat Kansas 66-14 in 2005 so I guess you're talking about 2004 in Lawrence when we came from behind to win 27-23. I covered that game. I don't recall Texas getting "whipped" at any point. What I remember is that Texas shot its dick off most of the game before Vince took over in the fourth quarter. Vince and the guys were still figuring things out as that was the first year VY was the full-time starting QB.

Yeah my apologies for getting seasons crossed up with original post quoted. Figuring things out the 10th game of the year? We barely beat arkansas, missouri, kansas or aggy that year. Cedric benson (God rest his soul) is all 4 of our rb's put together this year. Brian Luke (can't make that name up) and John Nielsen threw for 308 yards lol. We want to fire PK when he gives up those numbers, and we don't have a player who can hold a candle to cedric griffin, michael huff, tarrel brown, or arron ross.

This website would have burned itself to the ground if we were Georgia and we only beat South Carolina by 10 and Auburn by 7.

2005 gave this fanbase has a warped perception of what success looks like, when that roster was arguably one of the top 5 ever constructed in college football history.  Much more often, good teams look like 2009 - Some elite players covering up absolute black holes.

Also, is this bolded quote from 2011?  We've known this for like over a decade, and it's a really weird statement to make right after we DID beat TCU in what is apparently the worst game of football ever played, according to most on this website.

I was lucky enough to avoid this website over the weekend, and it's apparent that many of you have lost your minds.

That roster was getting it's ass whipped by Kansas before Vince went superman. I can only imagine all the levelheaded, pragmatic, "critical because we aren't sunshine pumper' assholes out there who were just losing their minds watching Vince struggle against Kansas lol. I don't watch enough games by other teams to know if saban, smart, day, dabo have game day management issues that just don't get blown up because their talent level is better than everybody they play every damn game. I'd be willing to bet all coaches make dumb game day decisions, but the hyper focus on your favorite team makes people way too damn critical. I have seen on the recruiting board where all the "smart people" post that football coaches are meat heads, so why would anybody expect a staff full of meat heads to get split second decisions right more often than not?

That said, he’s still 9-1 right now. He’s been an escape artist, for better or worse, and if he can keep doing that, I’ll gladly take an escape in every remaining game. Obviously, I’d rather breathe easy and have a final score of 70-0 every week. I’m still optimistic, if not overly confident.

I don’t dislike Sark. He seems like a genuine guy. The question of why OU doesn’t fuck around with inferior opponents like this was posed. Sark and his staff were also outcoached severely in Dallas and that would seem to have something to do with it. If you can’t or won’t see that then I worry about you. Not much else to say here.

Like the Kansas team they lost to that we beat 40-14? Or the ok state team they lost to that just got beat 45-3 by UCF? Yeah they don’t fuck around with inferior opponents like we do.
