While I have been to steakhouses all over, fortunately, in my travels for work and pleasure, I still think Pappa’s on Westheimer ranks as high as any of them. So that’s why they were in the list, I guess.

Anyway, I think we’re doing Da Marco. I wanted BCN since I haven’t been since last year but the other female doesn’t like spanish food.

Agreed on Coppa being a place I can, and do, go to regularly.

The good thing about Da Marco is that no matter what, they have that Risotto.

  2. Out of those I would choose BCN. DaMarco felt stale and boring last time I went there and the food wasn't good enough to help that. I go to Coppa a once a week, I'd save that for a night with kids in tow. I've only been to Pappa's Steakhouse downtown and thought it was fine for what it is.

Not me, but my business partner:

About 13 years ago his daughter and last remaining child living in the house was finishing up medical tech school and was planning on moving out.

In anticipation of not having tuition or a child in the house to pay for, he started work on his dream man cave. He tore down the old garage and rebuilt it and redid all of the drive with some pretty cool hard scape work. Inside he had a kitchen, bath, and open area where he put his new pool table. All surfaces were hard and could be washed down with a hose if need be. It even had floor drains. The fridge was stocked with plenty of beer and nothing else. Antlers and other hangings not suitable for the house were placed about the room and got it just like he wanted.  He even beat cancer during this time. Life was good.

Well, the daughter did not move out, so while she was living there no crazy parties were allowed.

Eventually, daughter met someone and he had to fork over a bunch of money for the wedding. Like 30 grand or something. But it would be worth it he thought, just so she could be out on her own with her husband making their way in the world.

Unbeknownst to him, his wife promised them they could live at home to save money.

So the man cave had to be converted to a residence. All new flooring, new kitchen, new bath, new bedroom walls, closet walls, and lighting. Pool table had to go to storage along with all of the other trappings.

He thought it would be ok after  a few years when they moved out after saving some money for a house.

Well, that day never came because his daughter freaked out and got a divorce 6 months after getting married. So daughter moves back into the house and garage apartment sits empty.

So after about a year when the coast is clear, business partner converts garage apartment back into a man cave. Walls are torn down, new flooring, new kitchen, new bath Yada Yada yada. All the while, daughter is still living at home.

He has been enjoying his man cave for a few years now worry free. His daughter even met another guy a few years back and he has a good job so her days at home are numbered.

So last week on Thursday, he doesn't show up for our usual beer drinking meeting even though he says he would be coming right over (he basically lives across the street from our office/yard).

So I walk on over to see what's up and he and his wife are under the man cave patio-talking. I can tell I am interrupting, so say my hellos and leave.

The next day I apologize for interrupting and he just shakes his head. He says his wife told him that his daughter wants to buy a house and move out and wants to move in with her boyfriend to save money. He asked where they were moving and his wife tells him, she said it would be ok if they moved into the man cave, after it was converted back into an apartment. Face palm.

    No.

I’m not sure if it’s still an issue but I believe they had many engine problems when the US first required the switching of fuels inside our waters for air pollution.

These massive ships all burn shitty bunker fuel. I’d have to doubt that those new regulations from 12 years ago concerning changing fuels for local boats in US waters had an impact here. I’m intrigued though and now reading about fuel tank lining due to that link.

We have watched some videos and they say if you want a specific formula if Brest feeding isn't possible to bring it in your hospital bag. Also say in the videos to take everything they give you in the hospital in the room is yours and to take it.

Yeah they usually have the single use similac or enfimil. I think we brought hipp powder with us because my wife got it in her head that it's easier on their stomach.

I'm not sure if we actually used any of the stuff from the hospital that we brought home. Their swaddles aren't that great.

Damn, I watch that yt channel all the time, cool to watch the ships come in and out.  They usually train the camera on the port during the day, lucky to have it facing the bridge last night.  Rewind about 7 hours and you can watch the whole thing unfold, sickening how slowly it happens.  Prayers to all the workers on that bridge..

It's kind of interesting that there had been a decent amount of semis going over the bridge but none when the impact happened. I wonder if someone noticed what has happening and alerted on the radios. I assume those guys still use CB's.

She wants to breastfeed, if possible. If not, then we'll do formula. I think it will also depend on how much work the pumping every 2 hours is for her but it's 100% her decision.

Keep in mind that if feeding/latching is an issue while in the hospital, you can tell them to bring in the donor milk or formula. Fed baby is best baby.

I tried to be a bigger person about this and I guess that was a mistake.

What  backwards world do you live in? Seriously. All you’ve done is call everyone you disagree with a troll or worse. You are a constant umbrage taker. This discussion could be so much more interesting if it wasn’t for you slinging your sophomoric shit at everyone that you don’t deem worthy. And how in the hell did fatty get brought into this? I don’t think he’s even fucked with this thread yet.

Networking and "working smart" is rewarded. I've watched many of the adults in my life growing up work themselves to death in dead-end jobs believing that if they worked hard enough, they'd get recognized and finally get that promotion to director. But it turns out that it doesn't make a shit how hard you work, and it's really about if you're drinking buddies with the hiring manager

Did you really think this wasn’t the case?

I thought this was Purgatory  -  "A place or state of temporary suffering or misery"

It's pretty hot in here, I am starting to wonder if you guys sent me to the right place. If nobody ever makes it out of here then i have to question the whole Surly Horns idea. This "Purgatory" is just a way to claim that you don't remove people's accounts if they disagree with you - but that is exactly what you do.

I said nothing that could be considered hate speach or "Shouted fire in a crowded theater" You just didn't agree with what I said.

Don't you think there are other people on this site that are watching what they say, making sure it's within the limits of what is "Allowed" so they don't get their accounts removed? Especially the ones that have been on here for years, they have a lot invested and don't want to start over - probably some of the most insightful voices on here. You think you are winning all the debates with these ones? It probably feels that way, but it's pretty easy to do if the other side cannot speak. You already control most all of the media, do you really need a full monopoly on here as well? The only real value this site could possibly have, if any, would be if people with different views could discuss issues here in a in a format that you couldn't find on television or anywhere else. This could seriously be an important site. So disappointing

So who got crowd sourced today?

I hope it doesn't come down to force, but it might.  I would hope that the 5% could see that it is in their best interests to ensure the 95% are content even in a capitalistic society.  The Camelots of the uber-wealthy are built on the backs of the working class.  They need only shrug to shake their foundations.

    It won't.

On the flip side, there’s a shit-ton of social media influencer types who are putting out unrealistic lifestyle videos that make the majority of people watching feel like they are living in poverty.  We have entire YouTube channels about kids unboxing toys, and it can’t be healthy for other kids to see those videos of some kid opening up a thousand bucks worth of toys in a few minutes.

On my bucket list is sailing up and down the East Coast and/or doing the Great Loop, and I occasionally look at videos about it, and I came across one the other night with a couple who bitched about their crappy jobs and tiny apartment and so they quit their jobs, sold everything and got a catamaran to live on, and they are acting like anybody can do it.  I looked it up and it was a $750,000 catamaran at minimum.  These “glamorous” influencers have got to be doing a number on a lot of their viewers, given how easily their content is spread.

When I was a kid in the 80s, there was a show, Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous, and it was once a week and not seen by most people.  Contrast that with the Kardashians that are non-stop on some TV channels, and all of the lifestyle influencer types who are pervasive across social media.

I swear to god I feel like I read this exact paragraph a year ago. Boat and everything. Crazy.

My POS Penteir Master Temp 400 pool heater is fucking up.
Hadnt used it all winter until trying 2 weeks ago. Not used the spa since Nov. Water temp 65 and set it for 82. No issues since new in 3 years. Fired it up and business as usual with that crazy jet engine roar. About 15 mins in it starts cycling thru on then back to off repeatedly every 2-3 minutes. When it would turn off the “ service heater” light would turn solid red. Light would go off and heater would begin to fire up like normal. Called pool tech and he came by and said the heater checked okay but my issue is probably my house atmos gas pressure at the heater, said:
(Max inlet was around 9”wc and when the heater fired it dropped down to 3.75”wc Max should be around 12-14 and drop down to no less than 4” wc)
Pool guy says to call gas company to request larger meter. Our house is on ATMOS gas and was built in 1990 and he says the meter is on the smaller side.
But if gas company comes out and pressure test house and finds leaks they wont hook up new meter to house until all leaks are found. Gas to furnace and water heater only.

Plumber says he will run by and check pressure of line and check house side for leaks. Plumber says its odd that heater has worked all along and now shit the bed due to low pressure. Thinks its probably the heater. But he doesnt work on pool heaters.
I dont know shit about fuck but I agree with the plumbers opinion.
Tech guy does a ton of pentair stuff and has swapped alot of equipment thru pentair warranty.

    Will see this week.

    Anyone ever encounter this?

Did they check the stack flu sensor? Also, aren't heater warranties only good for 1 year?
