My 8th grader got into St. John's! The counselor told me about it last night, early, because he was excited to get him. The boy has been diagnosed with autism and is enduring his third straight year in public junior high of being called the "school retard" and being fucked with in general. He's had his lunch kit and drinking bottle, new versions each time, stolen from him 3 times in the past week. It's been hard for a kid who really loves school and learning but has no idea how to handle many human interactions. Anyway, he tested off the charts for private school and his grades are absurd, so he somehow overcame the interviewing process and got his #1 pick. My wife cried with happiness and relief.

Congrats! Lower school legacies and siblings heard at 10am. Everyone else is at noon, apparently. We are longshots but tested really well. Pins and needles.

He’s actually doing pretty well overall, he’s just going through a growth thing or has a stomach bug or something. This is not an atypical night, although often he needs to be resettled at about 3.

Can you tell me what I'm looking for here? This is a live feed from Foxnews and they are covering the Philly mayor. This could be my fault, I'm pretty dumb.

US blocks UNSC resolution condemning Israel over aid truck stampede disaster

President Biden: US ‘checking competing statements’ after Hamas claims 100 dead

The U.S. on Thursday blocked a UN Security Council (UNSC) statement blaming Israel for the over 100 alleged deaths in a stampede around an aid convoy in northern Gaza on Thursday morning.

The U.S. was the only country of the 15 council members that didn’t support the statement put forward by Algeria in an emergency closed meeting, Palestinian UN ambassador Riyad Mansour told reporters.

The American deputy ambassador Robert Wood said that discussions about amending the language of the statement would continue, but added, “The problem is that we don’t have all the facts here.”

President Joe Biden told reporters that the U.S. was checking “competing versions” of the incident that led to over 100 deaths and hundreds of injured, according to sources in the Gaza Strip.

Israel said that most of the injuries were a result of large crowds swarming around the aid truck convoy and trying to loot it, leading to a stampede that killed most of the victims.

The IDF acknowledged that soldiers shot around ten people in a crowd which endangered the soldiers and a tank at a nearby checkpoint.

Despite Israeli statements and the release of drone footage showing large crowds around the aid convoy, the White House called reports of the incident “tremendously alarming.”

“This latest event needs to be thoroughly investigated,” White House spokesperson Olivia Dalton said on Thursday. U.S. State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said that the U.S. had asked Israel to provide answers.

“We have been in touch with the Israeli government since early this morning and understand that an investigation is underway. We will be monitoring that investigation closely and pressing for answers,” he said, adding that the U.S. also called on Israel to allow “as many points of access as possible, and to enable safe and secure distribution of that aid throughout Gaza.”

In a press conference on Thursday evening, IDF Spokesman Brig.-Gen. Daniel Hagari presented the results of the IDF’s preliminary investigation into the incident.

“No IDF strike was conducted toward the aid convoy,” Hagari said. “On the contrary, the IDF was there carrying out a humanitarian aid operation, to secure the humanitarian corridor, and allow the aid convoy to reach its distribution point, so that the humanitarian aid could reach Gazan civilians in the north who are in need.”

Israel was widely blamed for the deaths in statements from governments in the region, including Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan and Turkey.

They were joined by some European governments as well. “The fire by Israeli soldiers against civilians trying to access food is unjustifiable,” the French foreign ministry said, while Spain’s foreign minister called the deaths “unacceptable.”

Is this a different event than the one earlier in the week that was blamed on a strike from the Israeli Navy?

Our sons were friends since 2nd grade and we became friends over the years.  Eventually I got divorced from my ex, and his wife introduced me to her sister.  Now they are my in laws

    Ok.  That makes sense. Thanks.

I don't doubt the plexiglass is there for a reason, which I can only assume is to prevent theft. But when I look at the photo, I don't see any locks. Seems like it's more to keep you from being able to grab a bunch at once by needing one hand to lift the plexiglass. Just kind of perplexed by it.

They slow down the act of bulk shoplifting. It used to be easy to grab a ton of those, other cosmetics (major high shrink category), energy drinks, medicines..etc, quickly and discretely. Fewer employees in the store made these items an even simpler target. These shields provide an inconvenience to that. Especially if the hinges are as loud as the ones that some stores use.

Of our 8, 1 graded as an A, 5 B’s, and 2 C’s. Fresh implant of the A and the best B on Wednesday. Freezing the other B’s. Doctor was pretty excited with the results since we are older. Fingers crossed!

Try not to get too worried about those grades if you end up needing them down the line. It’s a crapshoot. Our very best and very worst graded ended up being the only ones that took. Good luck. I (we), unfortunately, have been through the IVF storm for 4 retrievals and 8 implantations. Pm me if you ever need to bounce stuff off someone.

I'll throw my Mock 2.0 in here for y'all to pick apart...note there are several projected trades.  Mostly by the Bears trading back to accumulate picks.  I have the Steelers trading the No. 22 pick for Justin Fields.  I also think Denver could trade up to get Bo Nix.  I'm not a huge Nix fan, but he seems like a perfect fit for Sean Payton's system.

I also have Carolina trading back into the 1st round to pick a CB, and the Bears using some of their draft stockpile to take the Panthers' pick to take JJ McCarthy.

    I see the 1st being WR heavy since it's a QB/WR league.

The reason Drake Maye is #1 is because I think he's a better fit for Atlanta's new OC.
