Dude went from an Internship as a Sandwich artist at Subway to CEO of Lamborghini Austin 2 years later?

    Seems legit.

One of my friends works at Goldman Special Situations and he ran a deal where they supplied capital for a group to buy out a series of Ferrari/Lamborghini dealerships across the Southern and Western United States. I remember him saying that one of the ones in Texas was run by the previous owner’s son and just hemorrhaged money because the kid basically used it to finance a rich boy lifestyle (gave cheap leases to friends, had his girlfriend on the payroll etc.). Might not be the same guy here, but wouldn’t be surprised if it was a similar situation.

I know everyone is talking about USC, but I told you guys the other night that Bama thinks they're getting him. He's been the guy that I've heard alluded to as the prime example of their approach on tampering, for months. So the USC stuff might be right, but I don't think this one is fait accompli.

This would make total sense given their WRs looked like ass in their spring game. Would also be a total Saban move to tamper Addison, blame it on LR (because everyone hates him), then act like they stumbled on Addison during his process.

“It was great being back out there. I hung out with Coach Bo Davis a lot, sat in on his meetings, saw how he coaches and how he interacts with his players and how they feed off his energy,” Deal told On3. “The practice was great. The D-line is great. They’re the best thing out there. They’re the main point in the defense and that was great to see.”

I'm willing to bet Addison takes some visits just to counter some of the tampering allegations. We would be a logical one because of Marion. But let's be real, it's USC in the end.

I mean… if we match or beat the USC offer, he gets to play in a Sarkisian offense with Quinn Ewers throwing to him, Xavier Worthy on the other side, Bijan Robinson in the backfield. I’m not sure we’re really lacking for anything vs. USC here except maybe California women/weed/weather.

Just look at pro sports. I can envision lock-outs, schools suspending their programs, etc. I realize this sounds pretty difficult to believe.

I feel like the probability of a Union is mixed. On one hand, superstar players and highly-rated guys buried in the depth chart likely have their earnings capped if they unionize. On the other hand, the 60-80 guys on the roster who don’t meet that bar probably get a lot more value by having the ability to collectively pressure schools, sponsors etc.

This. I remember as soon as the NIL ruling came down, it would come to this

not sure why anyone is shocked, at all. Also not sure why we as a university werent better prepared

I don’t understand the whole “UT isn’t prepared” thing. If we the school/BMDs really weren’t prepared, I don’t think we would have corralled millions of dollars for Ewers to come back. I think, to CTJ’s and Barbocoa’s earlier points, there is some strange selectiveness to when the admin/staff are allowing the NIL machine to ramp up. I don’t know if that’s incompetence in seeing the bigger picture (I.e. that NIL needs to be big for defensive players too) or if that’s us as fans not being able to see another side of this (that the staff has some plans for where they want money deployed and don’t want it squandered upfront).

Yeah, my reaction to that post was to lament how far we’ve fallen to get to the point where people list Juan Davis, Hudson Card and Charles Wright as examples of guys we really can’t afford to lose as transfers.  Our lightly recruited 4th string tweener TE, the QB who lost his job to Casey Thompson, and a QB that will never play?   We used to fret about losing Ramonce Taylor in the good old days.

I feel like there is a conceivable scenario where we lose Keilan.

Dude, there is going to be some actual pain, not just also-rans. I hope not, but I expect it.

As to greyshirting, I think you're presuming too much.

Have you heard any of this regarding the FB team though? I've been a part of multiple walk-on discussions for NIL with several different groups working on this stuff. The BYU premise isn't getting anyone involved at Texas very excited right now. Maybe making it happen in a one-offish kind of scenario will get buy-in though.

Is there anyone specific you’re worried about/hearing rumors about? Or is this more of a “we are a bad team and statistically there is a high likelihood Alabama/Georgia/Ohio State etc. makes a push to poach our best guys” kinda deal?
