  1. Professionals at this point? The only amateur part of this for a very long time is the manner in which the NCAA and the schools have handled this until they fucked up and let the courts and the politicians get involved which is always a great idea.
  2. You didn't read my second post did you and yes, we have grown accustomed over the years when playing at Ford to an abundance of empty seats and being able to sit where we wish almost as accustomed to a trip to the bathroom taking 30 minutes due to the lines or last calls for beer being with 5 minutes to go in the second quarter. SMU had a great season last year and it looks like they have the pieces in place to have another good season, but don't act like crowds have been piling into that oversize high school stadium for years.
  3. Technically, they had multiple games over capacity this past year as the official I believe is just over 32,000. Parking is a bitch and stadium concourses, bathrooms, and concessions really aren't enough to handle capacity, but i think they spent the money in the right place in the end zone complex. Unless you are going to add boxes and suites to generate more revenue, the fan experience is wasted money.
  4. So the NCAA is going to penalize two former Michigan assistants who now are coaching in the NFL. That sounds about right.
  5. Happened to TCU with LSU and Ohio State. Ford is a glorified high school stadium with an incredible new South endzone facility. Having been to the last two TCU - SMU games in Dallas before last year, I really am not sure how in the world they would handle a truly full crowd at Ford. Hell, they run out of ice and beer by half when they play TCU, That type of inadequate concession capability could turn ugly if LSU were to play there.
  6. Will Magic remind the kids to properly budget for bail money for a teammate when they get busted by vice for setting up the escorts for you after a road game?
  7. I would love to hear Max tell the story about hitting Carl Herrera with a weight during a fight.
  8. I am sure a number of people on this thread have already seen the documentary as it came out in 2013, but watched "1" over the weekend on Amazon. A pretty stark reminder of the dangers in racing in the formative stages and just how thrown together some of the races were at that time. The image of Martin Brundle running down the track to find the doctor to get cleared to continue racing after his car had been demolished in Melbourne was pretty wild. The days when teams had a back up car. I also had never heard the part of the story about Bernie acquiring the world wide rites to broadcasting F1 where he offered each team the opportunity to buy a 10% share for $100K.
  9. If I told you that the Reds were held to 3 runs in 26 innings and the Astros scored 18 runs in the series I think most on this board would have thought the Astros swept the series. Funny how one little 10 run inning can fuck up a potentially great weekend.
  10. Watched it because of the host and WTF was that? I would say it was dog shit, but I don't want to insult dog shit and that old joke is funnier than most of that show.
  11. Where the fuck has this been the past 5 years because he damn sure didn't do that the first 2-3 months of the year for Houston.
  12. I didn't know Lucci had a cousin work in the media in Cleveland.
  13. If we are playing the hopeful what if game then trade Alpi for Yanis straight up, trade Jalen and Jabari for Booker, and get the #1 pick. Basketball gods say I can only have two of the three than Jalen and Jabari for Booker and the #1 pick.
  14. You always hope to be in top form at the end of the season. I am sure Rockethorn has been pacing himself to avoid being in a downward posting trend come the the SEC tournament and the NCAA's.
  15. Maybe for women's basketball, but that has a very small sample size.
  16. Wait, this is supposed to be something that would bother me? I am just glad she got out of Ft Worth before she sued TCU.
  17. Agreed, marriage is hard, but so is any relationship or friendship. People change, things in their lives changes, and I think a big key is whether and how you go through those changes separately or together. As far as saying it says a lot about you I wouldn't view that negatively, I found most of the people whiny and needing to grow up, but I guess I am just old and cynical.
  18. https://www.timesnownews.com/world/us/us-buzz/colorado-fan-sues-nfl-for100million-over-shedeur-sanders-draft-slide-article-151579318 Who on here is John Doe in this suit?
  19. Different world back then as newspaper was the dominant coverage for sports at the time, you did have television coverage, but the networks weren't one 24-7 let alone a network solely of sports coverage. Roger did 5-years in the Navy upon graduation from the Academy, part of which was in South Vietnam, and he played on some service teams during that time. If I remember correctly he would try to time up his leave with Cowboy camps, but it wasn't until 1969 and he left the Navy that he truly went to the NFL and no one had an idea what the Cowboys were getting in Roger 5 years after he played college ball. Sanders on the other hand has been part of a media flying circus that once again proves life is stranger than fiction. One other different world story and easily my favorite Roger story. Almost all NFL players at that time had off season jobs because the money wasn't enough for them to be able to not work when they finally stopped playing. Roger started in the NFL in 1969 and he started in real estate in 1970. As good as Roger was as a quarterback he was better early on in real estate. Good enough that he didn't consider football his primary source of income. The only problem with this was Tex Schram knew Roger was doing well and wasn't depending upon that money so they would agree on what they both considered a fair salary. That number was well below what other NFL players were getting paid which frustrated some of the other Cowboy players. When they would go ask Tex for money in the offseason he would tell them he wasn't going to pay them more than he was paying the quarterback of the team.
  20. Definitely another mark against Kelly, but is anyone really surprised after his role in the kid getting killed at Notre Dame? The real question shouldn't be how much responsibility does Kelly have with this most recent incident at one of his programs, but why the hell does he keep getting hired by anyone?
  21. Any thoughts on the suggestion that Vettel could replace Marko at Red Bull?
  22. We just watched it last night and both enjoyed it. Yes, there are parts that seem as if they are trying to curate the story behind putting Kimi in Lewis' car, some of the behind the scene stuff might not be new, but it is enjoyable. I am not sure Kimi could be paired with a better engineer than Bono when you consider the temperament and the experience of working with two pretty decent drivers in his past work history. One scene that really reinforced just how young Kimi is during a family dinner and his sister says all her friends want Kimi's autograph. The shot of his sister really struck me because she looks like she would be in junior high (which is very possible) and then they cut to a shot where Kimi and the sister are running around outside like two little kids just having fun.
  23. My wife made the comment it felt like they had a bingo card of characters and situations and the writers were trying to play black out. We never really could connect with the characters.
