Anyone know anything about the Cy Park coaching staff? I know the principal is a Longhorn but that doesn't matter very much.

I think player recruiting is whats going to give Texas a good chance here. All the big time players in Houston are close so I do think Texas can find they’re way into this recruitment, just got to keep chipping away....

cypress has usually been a pipeline to A&M in past recruitments though

  2. RJ compared him to a mixture of Waddle/Garrett Wilson, but I didn’t really see him like that.

Not saying he isn’t good but he’s more of a speed guy, unlike Waddle who’s a (Explosive run after catch) or Wilson (Who’s ball skills are 2nd to none)...

hes routes are what has me drooling though...They are just as good if not better than both of the two I mentioned at this point in their career....Reminds me more of a Stephon Diggs or Devante Adams,,,

Regarding all the safety prospects for whom we're looking good, Nick Harris just commented that this is shaping up to be a 3-4 safety class (responding to Anderson possibly being a CB with Harris' recent CB for Hullaby)

Also noted that he thinks we're in a better spot for Dewberry than Banks (not saying that we're bad for Banks, just responding to a question).

I’ve seen Anderson at CB, and that would be an excellent move for him...fast, strong and physical

  4. I’ll put it like this, I don’t know Terry but I do know his cousin Mickey personally (WR coach at LSU) hell of a coach and even better recruiter, don’t believe me go look at his 247....

If Terry is anything like his cousin which I’m pretty sure they talk and probably give each other Tips..We’ll be just fine. Just give the guy a chance. If Sark has done anything it’s lead me to trust his decisions with these hires.

  5. Damn some people can never be satisfied....Sark has done an excellent job of bringing in Tier one coaching talent and y’all just have to find a flaw huh?!
im pretty sure Sark knew what he was doing when he hired Joseph, I mean look at who he’s been around and the coaches he has already brought in.

With the money he was giving if it was someone else I’m pretty sure Sark could have gotten him, but to say we really didn’t hear a lot of names for DB coach shows he was probably at the top of the list...

Let’s let the man show us what he has before we scrutinize the hire and show him the door..

I heard PK took a step back so Lake wouldn’t leave to Alabama and gave up the play calling duties this season...which a lot of posters said they regressed

All I had to do was watch the 2016 Washington Defense vs that Bama offense in the playoffs...
    IM SOLD!!!!!!
No way Washington’s Defense should have been aBle to keep Bamas 5stars in check like that

Doesn't Lupoi want playcalling duties? Or did he get a reality check?

Hopefully he gets a reality check and sees what Sark is cooking down here and wants to join.
Giles is coo but he’s been ahhhhhh...We still didn’t get as much pressure as we should even with the four man front.

The perception of him as a CB coach seems to be fairly shit, though, based on his prior stops before ND. Is much more well regarded when it comes to developing safeties. Hard to tell how much of that is reality vs how much is just retroactive 'oh yeah he sucks' after he left those programs or now that he has gone to Texas though. Maybe he will be the kind of player developmental ace our secondary has been sorely lacking for.. a decade, basically, and I just need to stop worrying about it.

Nah I’m worried to...I was definitely hoping for a bigger name for the CB’s also...But Sark has been great so I guess all we can do is trust his judgement on this

Would normally assume all of this is bullshit but now that he is the CDC chosen mouthpiece.. have to say his explanation for the Golding situation actually makes a lot of sense. Certainly more any of the other floated scenarios or explanations as to why the fuck the coaching search is taking so long at DC / who is involved.

Hoping he is at least wrong about us potentially hiring a second DL guy to be DE/OLB and DC to do ILB. Really feels like a predictable disaster if we only have Joseph and Gideon handling the secondary and no one with a positive track record working with CBs.

Joseph actaullly has coached corners. At Tenn, A&M and N.Carolina for what I know..

I'm always leery when we inherit assistant coaches that other fanbases didn't like. The North Carolina fans warned us about Greg Davis. The Auburn fans were happy to see Herb Hand go. Ohio State fans couldn't wait to unload Tim Beck on us.  OU fans were fine about Jay Boulware coming here. On the opposite side, the South Carolina guys were bummed about losing Hutzler. When we took both Muschamp and Chizik from Auburn, the fans were pissed. The only one I can think of that didn't work out was Wickline, who the Okie Lite guys weren't happy about, but I'm not sure that anybody was going to be functional under the Strong/Watson regime.

I know this is a stupid data point on its surface, but I think there is some validity to it. I'd rather not take Golding when the Bama fanbase is ready to run him off. I think there are better options.

Gotta remember, Bama fans are in denial right now. They think they should still be holding teams to single digits...With the SEC moving to modern style offenses no Defense is going to be able to do that consistently.

I am interested to see how Coleman fares without Herman micromanaging his position group. I will hold back any judgement until he gets a season to run his room and pick his recruits.

You have to think he’s a good developer...Snyder thought enough of him knowing K-State wasn’t going to get to many 4&5 stars.

    Milwee

    gideon

    coleman

    drayton

ournown board would have preferred to not Coleman or drayton (unless bijan was tied to drayton)

gideon is a good choice but still an up and coming coach

milwee is a young analyst getting his first real opportunity.

Drayton was considered the Best hire under Tom, don’t forget it just because we hiring all these Bama assistants.
Drayton has done excellent since he’s been here
