I think the Rangers crush either NL team.

I really don’t think they are that good, at least compared to the last few WS champs.  Every time I take a look at their stats on baseball reference I think “THIS team is beating us?!?!”  Pretty much everyone is playing better than they did in the regular season.

Of course a fucking front runner like Smoltz is anointing them the next dynasty here in the 8th inning.

That’s the danger. It’s the we need to spend vs the guys we have need to preform. Which risk you going with?

I kind of think pretty much everyone has performed mostly like how we should expect them or better with the exception of Tucker.

Peña is just not a good hitter.  Maldonado’s best use case is leaning into a pitch and then being subbed by a pinch runner.  Our bench is Dubon and two minor leaguers.  I agree that a new manager offers a huge opportunity to correct who is getting at bats but this whole season has been a reminder of how thin our team is.  We don’t have shit in the upper minors so we need to spend.

I wasn’t following the thread when France got inserted but he’s a very good example of someone whose “shit doesn’t work in the playoffs”.  He doesn’t miss bats and his peripherals are all weak compared to pretty much everyone else available.  Just the fact he’s on the NLCS roster is something Luhnow must be smiling about as he sips his mezcal and roots for us to lose.

anyone finish it yet? I thought it was really well done,

I did, too-my memory of the first two seasons was that they were slow and didn’t take off until the season finales.*  I appreciated that this one had some action in earlier episodes.

*I’m doing a rewatch and they aren’t quite slow as I thought; I think animation of two characters talking just doesn’t have the same panache as live action.  Also, it’s like the actors have been directed to underplay everything; Armitage, Callis, and McTavish have all been terrific elsewhere.  As far as voice acting the women are all far more dynamic.

  4. Good posts @Bozo_Casanova and @Texas Jeff.

It's interesting how some of our conspiracy minded complainers mirror the reddit Austin board whenever there's a discussion on building ANYTHING and I previously didn't realize how big a faction this might comprise.

I presumed it was just anti-growth versus pro-development, but to read reddit and @Samson's Wig is to see a purity test requiring any current property owner to abstain from doing anything because they might stand to take some benefit from it.

Given that it's unincorporated, it seems like anything goes -- similar to the mindset that Texas usually has on growth.

This hits close to home because I used to drive out to Cleveland when I was playing hooky...

In all seriousness, probably the most surprising thing about your quoted article is that Liberty County has infrastructure regulations.

To me, New Orleans being 14 is the biggest surprise. What industry and companies are there which would entice and employ so many college degreed people?

That one surprised me, too.  Maybe I shouldn't have been--Louisiana is chock full of degree mill institutions of higher learning and for which the job prospects aren't much improved over a high school diploma.
