There’s no guarantee that ‘draft capital’ is going to make the QB you want available. If Caleb Williams is really the man and the team with the #1 pick is dying at QB, they’re not going GAF about your picks, they’re going to take him. Movement at #1 doesn’t happen when there’s an obvious pick…

I also like Drake Maye quite a bit and who knows if Ewers will figure it out. My point was if DTR doesn’t work out, you’re probably picking first anyway.

  2. I’d rather swing for the fences late on someone like DTR in the 5th or 6th. If it looks like he might be something, it’s found money. If not, you’ve got a strong QB class next year and multiple 1s again. I’d much rather trade back and get extra picks to use on both lines. Drafting a QB high doesn’t do you much good if he’s going to get ruined early. I’m probably higher on DTR than most, but he’s started a lot of games at UCLA, and I think he’d really fit the Shanahan offense. As an absolute worst case, he’s supposedly got strong intangibles and seems like he’d make a solid backup if you end up with Caleb Williams next year.

Anyone have any insight into what’s going on at AT&T Sports?

Per the WSJ, the networks have notified the teams that it won’t make the next rights payment and has offered to give the teams their inventory back.

You sure you’re not talking about Sinclair/Bally? Haven’t heard anything regarding AT&T.

    Csb time,

A pediatrician I studied under in Houston was on that 1950 team. Dr. Allen Kline, loved talking Texas and loved talking baseball. Pretty sure he worked up until the day he died.

He was my pediatrician as a kid. He was a damn good man.

Toby Harrah and Bump Wills accomplished this feat. It’s the only time it has ever happened in recorded MLB history.

    What did they do?

Play for both teams in a single game?

Saw this in BP and it cracked me up -- there are currently 8 guys in MLB who have been with their current organizations since at least 2008.

Votto, Kershaw, Waino, Altuve, Crawford, Sal Perez, Cabrera, and... ????

    Who's the 8th one?

Forrest Whitley? Sorry @Wulaw Horn. It had to be done.

Forgive me ignorance on the matter but this isn't entirely clear to me. It seems like we're seeing a lot of guys without rankings and/or similar offer lists being "offered." Are these Bama style "offers" to come do a workout at a camp? Or are they indicative of the staff thinking "this guy can play and we don't care what his offer list and $9.95er ranking look like?" I'd imagine there's some of both but I was just wondering.

I think he had new tape come out because he got like 15 offers in a week. West Feliciana isn’t a recruiting hotbed, so he probably just got noticed. This a legit offer if I had to guess.

The pitcher is responsible for calling his own game.  The catcher is a glorified caddy.

Usually agree with you, but can’t get on board with this. If the pitcher’s calling the game, that’s 12 or 13 guys calling a game with a ton of variance in ability to do so.  Having a catcher that can do it is extremely important/beneficial IMO.
