  1. Offense is up this year to a crazy degree. R/G the past few seasons was 5.9. This year is like 6.5. Home run rates have jumped ~20%. TL;DR: Ball is juiced.
  2. For real, I’d suspected earlier in the season, but the regionals have been something else. Half the biggest comebacks in regional history will come in this year. Every other game is 20+ runs. Nuts
  3. Probably that they have no arms past Skenes
  4. Back to back innings, one strike away Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Skenes says I’ll do the fielding myself
  6. Voting Stevens as game 3 starter. 1) Stevens still has a 4.5 ERA in his relier appearances against non-midweek teams. His value is not in being a shutdown bullpen arm, but in the volume of ok innings he can throw. Stevens gives you 6IP of 2-6 run ball and without the same specter of a blowup like we had against OU. 2) Morehouse isn’t the guy, not in the playoffs. He’s given up 20 ER in 19 innings against “real” opponents (not UTRGV) and 12 in his last 7 (including against Kansas and WVU). He is not a viable posteason starter based on the resume to-date. The only alternative to Stevens is Johnny Allstaff, which gets really dicey really fast. If our bats get blown away (OU) it doesn’t matter much. But keeping it to 5 or 6 v 8+ honestly matters with how potent our offense can be. I wish we could keep Stevens in the pen, and if we get in trouble in the first two games he should probably be our long relief option. But if we can, we want him going 6+ IP and giving us a real chance in a G3.
  7. I understand they won their (weaker) division in the best conference and aggy won the h2h series away, that makes sense. But Vandy’s RPI is 6 and Aggy is 20 for a reason. The difference in their conference performance was 5 games - their schedule was almost identical except Vandy played Tenn and Florida while A&M played Alabama and Miss St. And A&M had a much weaker non-con. If A&M won the tourney or was the undisputed best of the SEC, sure. But its a gilden win to say you “won your division in the best conference” when you dodged the two other best teams in the conference. My point is that you can’t have a soft NC and then lean on the SEC if you aren’t the absolute best - RPI cuts through that and Vandy and Florida both are better. If your division was soft, tough, play a real team non con or win your tourney.
  8. A&M as a top 8 seed is laughable. Their RPI is 20 and the SEC already has Tennessee and Vandy. They do not deserve a super. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. No disagreement that the offense needs to show up. Any way you slice it, this game we need a big showing. My only thought is that we need a third starter much more than another arm in the pen. If morehouse isn’t that guy, its most likely stevens. Maybe I could see throwing southard or Olivares and hope you get a good showing they can roll into regionals. But Dre, we’ve been through this…its just not going to happen. Lets also just reflect on the fact that Olivares has 1 ER in twenty(!) innings and we’re throwing Blair and Duplantier out there. Really saving him for that super needed situation huh.
  10. Stevens is the only chance of a third starter, its clear now. Morehouse doesn’t have the stuff to beat quality D1 hitters. Stevens probably gets rocked, but throw him third and hope he can give you 6+ innings of less than 6 run ball.
  11. Old man is so damn clutch this season. Hell yeah Todd
  12. Fuck yeah! Gordon getting it done. Great performance
  13. May be an inning too many for Gordon
  14. Seriously, RPI and ISR have them in the mid 30s. Even suggesting they’d host right now is questionable. Also, A&M at 5? I rolled my eyes seeing them project as a national seed, but #5? Way too much credit for the SEC there, especially since they didn’t play Tennessee or Florida
  15. This came up last year with Pete Hansen, who was on the borderline. Its within 45 days of the draft, so within the first week of September or so. Ahuna is well outside that (just turned 20 at the start of the season)
  16. On 3 days rest, maybe one more? Might be worth pulling him now honestly. Give Stevens a couple
  17. BABIP has hit Stehly hard lately, which was likely I suppose. Faltine has been brutal of late (.750 OPS in conference to go with whats been said). Seems to just get dominated by half decent pitching and has lost something from the start of the year. He’s still better than Daly because of the power, but its getting closer (and not because Daly has seen a resurgence).
