  1. The timing can’t be coincidental after the Iosia transfer either.

We all talked about Texas needing to get better at libero/DS and this with Fleck would be a substantial upgrade.

If this happens I think Iosia was almost certainly shown the door but that’s just me speculating.

  2. Oh, I’m not denying it could happen but just saying “crazy” more in reference to Texas getting that quality of player this late and a position of need.

Texas has to be throwing NIL money around the way they are recruiting in the portal in women’s bball, volleyball, track and field, etc.

Well yeah, I'm just saying, she's played 4 seasons in college and has only had 1 "good" season.  She'll land somewhere but her entire trajectory in college has been "meh"

Yeah, she's just not that great at anything other than sitting at the 3 point line and hitting some shots.

It looks like she's in better shape but still looks out of shape to me.

I'm pretty sure that's all she was at South Carolina in limited minutes. They just put her in the corner and told her don't do anything else.

It's really not much of a concern and shouldn't be.

Matharu, Masudi, King-Hawea and Taylor Jones have 2 years left (if they want that 5th year).  I do not expect the JUCOs to stick around after this year - JUCO scholarships are 2 years and they will have (likely) finished their degrees at Texas.

Lauren Fields would come in with 2 years left as well.  She'd matriculate with the Matharu/Jones group.

Faye and Fatou Samb would have 3 years left.

It already looks like Masudi is being recruited over.

If Texas lands Faye they have 5 "bigs" that are probably getting minutes over her. Jones, Gaston, Moore, Faye, and Muhammad.

    There’s always an uncle.

I wouldn't be totally surprised if Ott is actually a candidate for one of these assistant coaching positions. He has a pretty big rep in the AAU and TABC circles. I think Cedar Park has won 62 games in a row.

He also plays a very similar style as Schaefer. Defensive minded with full court pressure.

From the video above: She is right handed but shoots with her left.

If you could build a prototype of what Schaefer likes Maul would be pretty close to it.

I would have been shocked if Schaefer wasn't recruiting her. She's physical and tough. I know she's a guard but she actually plays like a PF. Cedar Park puts her in the post a lot and says "let's see if you can stop her."

Circling back to Taylor Jones' consistency.  I really want this player at Texas - I will take a more consistent shooter who averaged double digit ppg and is a better rebounder and shot blocker than Ebo.  Rim protector.

Jones is a significant upgrade over Ebo. She's only 6'3 or 6'4 but she has like a 7'0 wingspan. Apparently, she's able to dunk but never done it in a game.

Texas had no rim protector that even comes close to Jones this past season.

I don't think people know how good Jones is. She's a better rebounder, rim protector, and has more offensive game than any big Texas had last season.

Texas is currently at 12 scholarship players with Chevalier's departure and 3 seniors (Ebo, JAT, Warren).  We are bringing in 3 freshman (Codio, Jak and Muhammad).

If all 3 came back (they all won't), Texas would be at the max (15) assuming no other transfers out and no open 'ships for anyone to come in via the portal.

If Texas is going to land Rickea Jackson (good possibility), 2 of the 3 seniors could come back to put us at 15.  We cannot exceed the 15 scholarship limit after this season, as it was a one season exception for 2021-22.

Personally, I'd bring back Ebo if she expresses a desire, but JAT and Warren will likely move on.  Warren for her health and JAT because she has a legit career coming up in engineering.

Bring back Ebo + land Rickea Jackson + find a grad transfer PG looking for Texas to pay for her master's degree for a year (Texas is at the max pending no current players transfer out)
No seniors come back + land Rickea Jackson + find a grad transfer PG + 1 open ship for whatever Vic wants to do with it

I think Allen-Taylor may return. She’s participating on SR day but if you read her and Schaefer’s comments it makes it sound like she’s far from decided on the next move.

Bama loses by 16 at home to Aggy lmao

    Oats is still a bitch

That's the most Bama result ever.

They've now lost to Iona, Memphis (when they were sucking), Davidson, Missouri, Georgia and aggy. I'm not sure there's been a more bipolar team in college basketball.

ha. if he loses to St John's my 2-4 prediction will hit.  holy shit.  I guess they are in based on a couple early season wins plus Nova twice and Providence once.

Funny thing is I'm not sure this is even the normal Shaka late season decline.

Marquette just ran into some massive luck early in the season with Illinois and K-State playing without their best players. Seton Hall was also really banged up in their 1 point loss against them.

Reality is this is just a .500ish team if you take away the early season luck.

  11. Shaka should be thanking the basketball gods.

They beat K-State by 1 in a game where K-State didn't have their best player in Pack. They beat Illinois by 1 in a game where Illinois didn't have their best player in Cockburn.

If you flip those two Q1 wins to losses and Marquette is a bubble team.

They play in the Frisco classic this weekend against Washington State, Iowa, and Wichita State.  Not sure, but don't think any of those teams are that great.  Then the following weekend a 3 game series at home against Santa Clara.  After that they start conference play @ LSU where they'll get stomped.

Their non-conference schedule is truly awful so they will probably stack some wins but they've already screwed themselves with this Penn series loss. All they could do in non-conference was avoid bad losses which is already out the window.

They're going to get embarrassed in the SEC though. Alabama was picked to finish 7th in the SEC West and I think they're much better than aggy.

  13. aggy is really bad this year in baseball. They should have lost 1 to Fordham and 2 of those games were close.

Fordham was spanked this weekend by V-Tech who won't even be a regional team.

My guess is aggy won't even make the SEC tournament this year in baseball (like last season).

It will be very interesting to see how he does in CS. He built little ol’ TCU from a doormat team playing in ridiculous facilities worse than many high schools to a regular contender with more CWS wins than aggy’s entire program history. In theory, he should kill it at aggy, without the private school tuition limitations and the added advantage of the mindless Borg fan following.

Schloss is a good coach but Saarloos was arguably the best assistant in college baseball.

Schloss made 1 CWS without Saarloos and 4 with him. I'm interested to see how this works without Saarloos.
