Is it Allen or Pierce that’s the pitching guru? Every year Pierce has been here (except 2019) we’ve had a nasty staff and at least 1 guy gets significantly better throughout the season. And when Allen leaves, I’d really like to pick up Alaniz. Keep it in the family

It's both but we've improved significantly going from Haig to Allen IMO. So Allen has to be doing something right.

I'm never worried about pitching with Pierce though. He's had legit pitching everywhere he's been dating back to when he was the pitching coach at Rice.

  2. I don't know if this is true but somebody once told me that Galindo had an account on Shaggybevo and that a couple people in his circle knew it.

I hope it's true for the laughs.

I tried to figure it out on Shaggy but I had no clue who it might be.

Mute is the solution for Galindo.

However, while that works for basketball (who gives a fuck what Lance Blanks mumbles about?), muting baseball to avoid Galindo robs us of great Moreland and Swindell insights and stories.  That makes for a tough decision …

You aren't wrong about Blanks or Galindo. The LHN broadcast for baseball is top notch in general. I really enjoyed hearing Graham and Harmon this past weekend.

I don't know how LHN can see the difference in baseball and basketball to not realize changes need to be made. Texas fans are vocal about it too.

Luckily, Galindo rarely calls baseball games these days.

Yeah Ivan hasn’t had anything hit to him that would require a spectacular play but he has made all of the routine plays…routinely, including one ball going to his right and throwing to second. Doesn’t look as sharp picking low throws, but small sample size there.

He still looks awkward at times on throws that are a bit off to 1B.

I was expecting a lot worse for some reason though. I can't remember where (maybe McComas when he was at OB) that said Ivan was apparently terrible at 1B when given reps last year in practice.

  5. I know it’s a limited sample, but I think Melendez has looked good at 1B.

    Probably better than expected.

Whoever is developing 1B is doing a damn good job because weren’t there questions about Zubia’s ability to play 1B? He ended up being reliable at 1B.

The fuck. Get that Lowell Galindo shit out of here.

Wait he says “velo”? If so I’m ashamed.

I haven’t listened to Galindo call a game in years in basketball or baseball. Normally on mute.

  7. I was looking at this the other day but barring a collapse I think this will be the highest ranked Kenpom team since '11 when they finished #5.

That of course was the bogus 5 second call against Arizona year.

Yeah, but he was a liability.  He didn't want to work through it, thus the "addition by subtraction" statement.

Here is Khavon Moore's stat line for his career:  He averaged 9min a game at Clemson.

    • PTS
      1.8
    • REB
      1.7
    • AST
      0.5
    • FG%
      37.3

True and that's why his minutes were cut. Point being, highly ranked recruits do not like to sit on the bench.

Somehow this has turned into a negative with Beard from certain people.

Would you rather have guys like Burnett and Tyson stinking up the joint as FR or try to win games?

Ramsey was a one-and-done and that's a knock on Beard?

Burnett couldn't hit fucking shots.  Period.  He quit on the team.  It was addition by subtraction.

Khavon Moore has not done jack shit.

Beard has his opportunities, but wholly fuck...at least get the story straight.

Were't Burnett's minutes cut and that's the major reason he transferred?

  10. The entire Beard and top recruits transferring thing is also way overplayed. Top recruits transfer when they don't start or get big minutes. The two FR that were starting at Tech didn't transfer mid season.

Tyson (6.9 minutes per game and 0 starts). Transferred.

Burnett (17.7 minutes per game and 0 starts). Transferred.

Ramsey (31.2 minutes per game and 27 starts). NBA but no signs he was going to transfer.

Peavy (20.3 minutes per game and 25 starts). Left after Beard but no signs he was going to transfer.

Unfortunately, most top recruits want to get 20 minutes plus and be a starter from day 1.

Sounds bitter about Texas having more wins in last year’s CWS than aggy has in their program’s entire existence.

I was looking at aggys non-conference schedule and it's just sad.

If I did the math correctly, only 2/22 games in non-conference are against teams that finished top 75 in RPI last year. They do this in every sport and will the talk shit about beating these shit teams.

    It blows my mind.

  12. I always thought Buzz was overrated but I'm even surprised he's failing this spectacularly at aggy.

There's a very real chance he doesn't have a top 75 team in the first 3 years (per NET).

  13. It looked like last night Beard had a new wrinkle for Carr where they would set a double screen and let him come off the ball in the midrange.

Carr scored 2 or 3 times off that same play on a bank shot.

I don't think I've seen that all season but Texas should do more of that. Carr isn't a great creator but I think he can still score if put in the right situation.
