May 22, 2023 by John Lomax III, Organizer

After a long hard fight in which he defied all doctor's predictions, John Nova Lomax passed away peacefully early this morning with his former wife, Kelly Graml at his side. He was in no pain at the end and slipped peacefully away to another realm. Again, thanks so very much to all 400+ people who helped keep him going this long. Back with news as we figure out next steps.

Sepsis and another infection have appeared, John has been in intense pain, his kidneys have not regained function, there are no live liver cells, he has been exposed to Covid and his leg pain from his nueropathy is so bad he can hardly move his fingers and his legs feel, as he says, "like glass breaking constantly". The family has decided to, on the advice of all the attending doctors, to unplug the dialysis and blood pressure meds. He will be given more pain meds and be treated as if he was in a hospice care. Once at this point, he will drift off in a short period.
There will be more updates as plans are made for ways to celebrate the life of this most remarkable writer and person. All of us want to thank you for helping us with his care over the past 10 months and please know any remaining funds after funeral and other expenses are paid, will be passed to his children. I wish our ride tog ether had come to a better ending. It's so heartwarming for us all to know over 400 people contributed to this fund to help John Nova and we thank you for your positive thoughts on John's behalf.
-- John Lomax III on behalf of John Nova's family, friends and fans.
Si'm sorry but I'm starting to cry now.

  2. They should have let the App State players party at Northgate and mingle with the aggy fans. I'm sure "the finest fans in all of college football™" would have shown them real "aggy hospitality."

    lol

"After pulling a historic upset at No. 6 Texas A&M on Saturday, the Appalachian State football team didn't get to celebrate back home in Boone, North Carolina.

Mechanical issues with the team charter forced the Appalachian State team to spend the night at the hotel where they'd slept the previous night in College Station, a team spokesperson told ESPN. With the hotel sold out, the team spread out in various hallways, conference rooms and the lobby area.

The team spent about three hours on Saturday night at the airport before returning to the hotel around midnight. They had an unofficial 3:30 a.m. wake-up before returning to the airport, where they boarded a flight at 4:30 a.m.

The team flew to Charlotte on Sunday morning. They landed around 8:30 a.m., and the five team buses were expected to get to Boone, which is about two hours away, around 11 a.m."

It's a good thing that Pyle Field is so intimidating.  Otherwise Appalachian State might have put a real beat down on aggy.

When the “letter from an App State fan” materializes, talking about how awesome the Kyle Field environment is and how wonderfully spectacular aggys are, please post it.

I’m also looking forward to the letter by the aggy fan saying how happy he is that App State won because they wanted the win more and they deserved the win more than A&M.

You know, normal ordinary love letters that football fans write to opposing fan bases every post-game Monday morning.

Why do people keep saying "App State shocked A&M".......

They're the better team and I would pick them to win if they played again. Did people not watch the game? This wasn't some fluke. App State dominated the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball.

“A cultural bias that impedes risk identification.”

Give Jimbo a raise and extension, and lock him up (fully guaranteed) through 2031.

When he hasn’t even put two consecutive seasons together with a winning record in conference play.

Sounds like a brilliant strategy. What could possibly go wrong? Where is the risk in that strategy?

    Whoop!

The Warsaw Pact and NATO had not been created, and the Cold War had not started.   In the interim the USSR grew in prominence, then collapsed, along with the Warsaw Pact and the end to the Cold War.  We are now 32 years AFTER this and Russia still sucks and is apparently getting their shit pushed in (deservedly) by Ukraine…..and still no aggy football national championships.

Slava Ukraine and the aggy tradition that made this possible!

The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics lasted 74 years- 1917/1991.

Texas A&M’s major sports national championship era of wandering aimlessly in the wilderness has (so far) lasted 84 years.

So aggy's only ever football national championship, which was disputed ... happened 12 years before Elizabeth became the Queen? LMFAO.

On a serious note. Rest in Peace, Queen Elizabeth. Amazing woman.

aggys "national championship" in football was so long ago, it was before the invention of the penalty flag. Think about that.

"Penalties were originally signaled using whistles or horns. In 1943, college coach Dike Beede gave the first penalty flags to a 4-person crew led by Jack McPhee, who found the penalty flags clear and easy to use in noisy environments, which led to their eventual use in professional football in 1948."

  7. A key takeaway from The University of Low Educational Achievement is that it is ok to lie to yourself and to your fellow gullible white trash rednecks if that is what it takes to get you through life.

"My sources tell me" for millennia primitive cultures have been fabricating "knowledge" to "understand" why the teachings of their cultures don't correlate well with observed reality.

aggys don't lie, cheat, or steal, of tolerate those who do. But if you suffer from low educational achievement, how do you know if it's a lie of not?

The people of Texas deserve better than The University of Low Educational Achievement.

(Fun fact for the day, Texas A&M's "national championship' was so long ago, it preceded the advent of both the face mask and the penalty flag)

He owes them nothing if he leaves.  If they fire him, they owe him the balance of his contract at the time, somewhere around 80M is left I think.   You can bet your ass they will be looking for cause, it’s why he has denied denied denied that NIL had anything to do with that class.   He knew he couldn’t claim NIL because that would eventually come out in the wash that there was none.   He can just deny and deflect, claim ignorance of what was really going on, he has a smart agent who told him how he keeps the money is to not know anything and claim they all came because they love the lit station.

It going to make it harder to prove he knew about illegal payments which is probably the best they could hope for in their eventual for cause case.   2 more seasons of 8-4 or worse and you can bet they are looking for that out.

His extension kicked in this past January and runs through 2031. The first year of the new deal was for $9.0 mil/yr. The contract has escalators that bump his base $100k/yr. As of today, there is around $87 mil left on his contract.

    Here is Jimbo's walk-away clause:

Somebody fill me in here . . . what does A&M owe Jimbo (or vice versa) if he bolts, say before the 2023 season?

@Randolph Duke please, no dissertations.  A simple answer would be nice.

If you live in a world where 11 words is considered one and the same as a dissertation, I’m not sure I can dumb it down enough for you.

But for you, I’ll give it a shot.

    Nada.

Jimbo can walk with no penalty any day he wants.

  10. Yet another example of how the “aggy experience” fails.

In the comments, the aggys are crowing about how it is unpossible form to have paid their latest recruiting class what others have claimed. “Whoop! Advantage aggy.”

    “Last year”

Well, this is 2022, so “last year” has to mean 2021, right? Well, aggy’s “$30 mil store-bought” 2022 recruiting class that signed in Feb 2022 wouldn’t  have received NIL in 2021.

Why would someone have posted a NIL story talking about “last year” ie 2021, on Sept 7, 2022.

Because, in the grown up world, “last year” could (and in this case does) mean fiscal year, not calendar year. The fiscal (ie “reporting) year for TAMU ends Aug 31 of each year.

The NIL desks for the aggy 2022 class wouldn’t really kick in until the kids are enrolled, in campus, and available for promotional activities concurrent with the 2022 football season.

So while the dumbfucks are “aggy sure” $30 million could not have been contracted for in NIL deals because a sum less than $30 million was paid out  prior to the start of the 2023 fiscal/ school/ reporting year, the rest of us are pretty sure it is still possible there are about $30 million in NIL deals that have been contracted for with the 2022 recruiting class.

The people of Texas deserve better than Texas A&M.

These replies make me want to go on a 3 state killing spree.

"This forum can be a "zoo" at times, but yes, the offline culture on campus you're picking up in this thread is real. A&M is a special place for Ags and visitors who themselves are good sports. My belief is the spirit of hospitality exists because we know that bad hospitality is a poor reflection on the school and its traditions we love so much." https://texags.com/forums/5/topics/3313850/replies/62868082

Yes, the aggy "culture" is real. But aggys are never honest about that "reality."

I’m aware the Seminole tribe supports FSU. It still seems dumb to me. Enjoy your cultural appropriation

The Seminoles were the only tribe to never sign a final peace treaty with the US government. They are immensely proud of that fact. They are extremely protective of their tribal identity. Tribe members have repeatedly been asked their stance on the FSU mascot issue. The tribe members have never wavered in their support of its use by the university.

But you can’t bring yourself to respect the wishes of the members of the tribe.

    Um....ok.

(Oh, and it’s not cultural appropriation if the tribe has granted permission for its use. Words have meaning, even if the people using them don’t understand their meaning)

You have a remarkable ability to read things into posts that absolutely don't exist.  Carry on, Randy.

    Apologies.

I read "They just don't understand that one class does not a juggernaut make" to mean "the ags are about to learn that while they may have landed one quite good recruiting class, that doesn't necessarily indicate extended future success at a high level."

    Silly me.

This is season 5 for Fisher at TAMU, Randy, and he's banked about $35-$40M. No need to move the facts around, it's still absurd.

Jimbo's total compensation for FY 2019 was $9,266,535 (see attached, bottom of P.40).

He has been there approx 4.7 years.

    Assuming he hasn't taken a pay cut of any sort, 4.7 x $9.27 mil = $43.59 mil.

    I stand corrected.

His base was $7.5 mil, and his other comp was $1.77 mil. His new contract that kicked in on Jan 1, 2022 bumps his base to $9 mil (with an escalator clause), so his total comp is now almost $11 mil/yr.

    For going 8-4.

They're heady over a great class in 2021, which is understandable.  They just don't understand that one class does not a juggernaut make.  (See:  Simms + Redding, etc.  It took several years to build the talent and depth that would eventually turn into the 04-09 Longhorns.)

Of course, they're also the most perversely illogical fanbase in all of sports, so that doesn't help, either.

How successful do you thing Jimbo Fisher is going to be at managing 30 18-yr old prima donnas who have been promised a lot and given more money than they ever imagined at their age?

I'm fairly certain the ags are about to learn there is a huge difference between buying a top recruiting class, and developing effective team chemistry. Throw in the cultural bullshit that comes with being a black male in College Station, Texas, and Jimbo has his work cut out for him.

Remember this is season six that the trophy they gave Jimbo has been sitting on the shelf over there. So far he's banked almost $50 million, and at some point, even an aggy catches on to a fraud.

My guess is by the end of this season, that famous recruiting class will start to disintegrate and the wheels will begin to fall off the cart over there.

For anyone wondering, Jimbo's contract is fully guaranteed through the 2032 season.
