Did Colo, Misery, Corn, or aggy wait years after announcing? Nope. Played their last season and left, while paying significantly less than stated in the bylaws.

Whether he likes it or not, bowlsby is not in charge of, or an influence upon, when we bolt.

We are going to be the first that has signed a Grant of Rights though. So it is going to be different.

It seems adding teams muddies the waters on any losses claimed by the Conference if they want to play hard ball and not release the GOR.

  2. Honestly, I can't believe that all of the 8 schools are going to vote to lock themselves to this conference by voting to expand. They will be asked to extend their GOR so they can negotiate the next TV contract. Why wouldn't you vote no and wait out your other conference options? It seems likely that even if you end up in an enlarged AAC, at least you don't have a GOR that attempts to tie your hands from moving to a better situation and you probably get a similar payout of TV money long term (post 2025).

"After dropping my stuff in my dorm room, I bought a Big 12 T-shirt. "

I stopped reading this immediately cause obviously this writer is a complete dweb.

As someone on campus in 1996, a Big XII shirt was not a thing I recall seeing. Where was this alleged shirt purchased?

I doubt the interactions will be as pleasant this year in Morgantown.

In person I have heard people have enjoyed themselves. Here on the internet there appears to be lots of screaming at Longhorn fans; I assume they are trying to scream and horns down their way into being our rival.

If you listen to the podcast, they're still wondering where Texas and Oklahoma are going to get the money for the buyout. They really think this has the potential to drag on for four years. Someone might want to remind these guys that ESPN still owes Texas $150 million for the LHN.

its humorous when they talk about having 12 members not looking to leave. If they really think that Kansas hasn't called the B1G to say hi for each of the last 10 years, they are dumb.

Do it kansas. Blow this shit up.

Their poster about how awesome and close Kansas City is actually worked?

But, what about the impacts to Manhattan Kansas and Article 3.2 of the Bylaws?

I'm ok with Cal being left to form a chess and quidditch league with Caltech and Cal Poly.

I think a lot of people are making the mistake of thinking every move has to set up Texas/OU level matchups. That move is done and there aren't many matchups like that anyway.

Oklahoma State-Oregon is absolutely a better matchup than most Pac-12 games.

I think that is true to you and I but I'm not sure if true to Pac-12 watchers. I'm not sure most West Coast football fans are very aware of Oklahoma State's football ability.

Also, the Pac-12 start times are obscenely late. I feel like the UT game at Cal ended after midnight California time. Look at all these late ass kickoff times.

    2021 Pac-12 Football early television schedule announced | Pac-12

How does it work to merge a conference that puts its marquee games on at 9AM PDT with a conference that likes to kickoff big games at 10:30 CDT? Can't put 'em in the middle of the day because that's when our conference plays.

“They were lying about having to do it now, there is no reason to give notice now we won’t renewed the agreement until 6-9 months out from 2025.”

“They have a 2 year penalty for leaving.”

    No reason at all…

They are never going to get their contract renewed with the optimal payout without extending the Grant of Rights before they cut the deal.

  10. Austin finally made it on the list of leverage cities that teams use to get new deals with their current home town. Seattle (basketball), Portland (baseball), Las Vegas (baseball or basketball) and Austin (any sport but soccer). Congrats everyone!

If there is one thing I trust the UT athletic department to do, it would be that they cover their asses legally on something like this.

We probably wrote the Big XII bylaws and the Grant of Rights, since we ran the conference.
