Ag's have reason to be upset.  They have massive issues that many are starting to realize go beyond a new staff and the "empty cupboard"  excuse.  Starting with QB.  Ol Miss is warmed over cat-piss bad.  They beat Tech early.  Fine.  I highly doubt they'd want to play that game again.  Their defense is horrible.  Statistically running behind such powerhouse teams as Rice, San Jose State, and NM State.  And they struggled with them.

Mond just ins't the guy.  He stares down receivers.  Holds on to the ball WAY too long.  And generally just isn't accurate.  TW is a good to great back, but shut him down, make the offense one-dimensional, and force Mond to beat you...usually the results are in your favor.  For a reported "QB guru", Fisher hasn't done much.  Next year they lose a ton of players and the schedule is brutal.  So are then pining for a year three breakout?  Good luck with that.

My bold prediction is that Elko bolts for a HC job after year 2 if he can't get one this year. Next year their defense will be even worse than this year with their whole Dline turning over.

Agreed.  This will be a nail biting dog fight.

Physically, we seem to match up pretty well with ISU. We do better against tall receivers, we do better against QB's who are not great athletes at the position, and we do better against teams that don't run tempo. Offensively, if we can establish the run I feel like we can win the game. Defensively should be an improvement over the last two weeks at the very least.

I noticed that if we get Bru, our class calculator would immediately jump us up to #3 in terms of recruiting rankings.  Of course, that is only based upon a comparison with everyone else's unfinished class, but it is encouraging.

I just can't see Bru happening. If he went to the Cal game and watched that tire fire with a lame duck coach and is still torn up about the school and alumni base and opportunities after school as if Texas doesn't offer the same thing, then we really don't have a shot.

Gundy is my second-favorite opposing coach of all time, trailing only The Pirate.

This times 1,000. Love Gundy, great coach and great for the conference. Can you imagine Leach and Gundy shit faced at a bar talking about anything they wanted? It would have the whole room captivated if Herman and Michelle weren't there.

Gatorade and vodka is disgusting. I've done it.

Anyway, ZS is about to pass out, get arrested/institutionalized or commit suicide. If he survives the night, expect a deleted Twitter account and a public apology tomorrow morning or this week, followed by a "I'm seeking the help I need" tap out, prior to a vanishing act.

He'll wind up changing his name and getting a job at a mid level paper company in Scranton Pennsylvania.

Shit, we had a head coach here in San Marcos who would regularly go drinking downtown, bring coeds back to his office, and use the football A/V equipment to film them having sex.

Not endorsing it, just saying that it happens.  Not that I've ever done it.  My department doesn't have A/V equipment.

Please tell me this was Fran.. please tell me this was Fran..

FWIW, it was a pretty well known rumor that he was screwing co-eds in Ames.

Ive never mentioned it here because I like you guys and have no ill-will towards him, but based on things I heard while he was actively at ISU I don’t think Smith is totally full of shit.

Rhoads and staff used to attend a big party the night of signing day hosted by Cyclone Fanatic at a bar in Des Moines.  Herman was always blitzed.  I mean, so was I so I’m not shitting on the guy, but he definitely had the wild man vibe.

If he had anything, he would have posted it in this kamikaze tweet campaign. Rumors aside, I am sure most coaches have stuff like this in their closet. Hell our high school coaches were well known patrons of Perfect 10 when I was in high school. Not that it makes it ok, but trying to go scorched earth on something like this will get him nowhere.

Good list, but like I said I read Hudson is getting a medical. I hope that's wrong because he could be a beast. He's a freaking rock.

I havent read any reports confirming one way or the other, but if he cant go then maybe Kerstetter moves inside or we pull in a GT at guard, or we let Ghirmai, Moore, and Okafor battle it out for the last spot.

Daniels is good, but Sam has "it". Grit, toughness, will to win, doesn't lock on to his first receiver. If only we had better defenders....

But I digress. Cosmi looks like a stud, Vahe is gone (thank Christ), Shack is back, Kerstetter will be back, Okafor should progress (hopefully), Imade (unknown), Angilau (let's hope he takes the Cosmi route of bad ass, and I don't know who else? Another grad transfer?

I am still holding out hope that Hudson contributes. My ideal line for next year would be something like Cosmi, Hudson, Shackleford, Angilau, Kerstetter.. But I would love to see someone beat Shack out. He is good for at least one penalty, and at least one free pass rusher per game

IMHO it's due to better OL play than any coaching being done by Meh and Beck. When your QB can eat a sandwich while surveying the field he's going to be better and make better decisions unless he's a complete imbecile (which Sam is not).

Completely agree, but the receivers have also made a huge leap in using their physicality and beating coverage. I would be hard pressed to believe much of that may not be just two great athletes maturing, but you know how these things go when coaches get to take credit for these kinds of things.

Too hard to get them in sync, so that's a no go for me. Much better option would be for Fox to fire this ass clown and put my regarded cousin, who doesn't know anything about sports generalle or football specifically, in the booth. Hell, my ten year old boy talks nonstop through the games and his commentary is leaps and bounds above this piece of shit.

    Avatar checks out.

Honestly, wouldn't mind if Tee Martin joined our offensive coaching staff. Would definitely be an upgrade at either WR coach or OC.

The stronger we close this season the less likely we are to replace staff outside of Warehime and possibly Giles. With the improvement CJ and LJH have shown plus Mehringer being the #3 recruiter in the country, I just can’t see that there would be any justification to push him out. Same with Beck - very good recruiter, clearly doing a great job with Sam. The only reason he goes is if Herman truly doesnt want to call plays. I would love to have Beatty and/or Tee Martin, I just don’t see either happening at the moment.

The more LJH does good, the more it seems he might go to the draft. Bru has got to be thinking that, man I could be the that dude next year. Especially if Johnson stays, then there is a lot of room to grow into the position rather than go to usc with an unproven QB or at least no where near sams level.

JT Daniels is a stud and will be every bit on Sams level in a year.

If you guys only knew the amount of money these companies make like Buccees, Loves, Pilot, etc. It is incredible. Pilot does as much annual revenue as Dell.

Likely not the same profits being you nearly break even on fuel.

I know these companies better than most, Trust me, they make money on their fuel.

None of those guys play offense.  You can do something to drive the ball and eat clock when your offense has the ball instead of going 3 and out.  The defense was bad for sure, but it takes help from the offense to almost blow a 3 score lead in a quarter.

The offense only had 1 bad drive. We gave up an onsides kick and two free shots downfield on fourth down in the fourth quarter. The onsides kick was given up by.. you guessed it.. one of our defensive liabilites in Locke.
