How many years do wehave to watch ND and OSU crap the bed in a bowl game?

At least we didn't have to watch them do it in a semifinal. Positive thinking for '22!

With TH as coach, the David Ash experience would probably be the blueprint.
Ehlinger/Buechele were the starters for the duration of TH. Rising wouldn't have played.

Cool to see Rising play. He was on the Utah team we beat in the Alamo Bowl. I forgot he was in the same class as Casey. He wasn't beating out Sam but maybe he would have started for us this year, had he stayed.

That was a good game! Way to go Okie State.

This thread reminds me (and forgive if already covered above as I haven’t gone back through all prior posts) how the ESPN talking heads on air and in podcasts in particular said at the beginning of the season that they were going to make an effort on not focusing on the playoffs and which teams were contenders for it so as to make all teams’ fans feel more engaged and relevant throughout the season. I felt like that thinking lasted for maybe 3-4 weeks before being abandoned (with no mention of its abandonment).
There's been a change, and it's for the worse.
HS ball was/is fun because you wanted to beat your rivals and win your district. If you made a deep run in the playoffs it was exciting, but not the focus. (Understandably, this was different for some schools that expected to win all the time).
College ball used to be like that. It was an amateur sport for young men and the focus was on beating your rivals and winning your conference. And it was fun. The bowls were fun.
Now it seems like there's a hyperfocus on national rankings and getting into the CFP - and the BCS selections before that. And if that didn't suck enough, you can hardly call college football an amateur sport, or simple good fun.- 2

Why so dang early? It's AZ not the East Coast.
And being in AZ, it should probably start 10-15 minutes late to fit in with the local culture

Expand nfl rosters I meant. So they can warehouse players.I think the roster sizes are a big concern with the union and the vets. They don't want the pie cut into smaller pieces.

Expand the rosters.Didn't they make the rosters smaller because teams like Bear Bryant's would have 200 players?

Today’s games have demonstrated the need to at least go to at least 8 team playoff.
Because you want to see 4 more games just like this one?

If this was BCS, Georgia would have been #2 and everyone knows it. But #3 Michigan would have done a hardcore media campaign and shouted their butthurt from the rooftops and we'd all enjoy the scandal.
The CFP shuts up those #3 and occasional #4 teams that would have had a claim on that BCS 2-seed, and everyone after that is a 1-loss with a weak SoS or a 2-loss also-ran without a serious claim.
I kind of miss those BCS scandals and arguments.

If we aren't, we're being naive.

Not if you decide to buy athletes like aggy. Then maybe 3 years.
I don't know where you've been, but this has been a way of life for the SEC for a long time. Money and PEDs. The only thing aggy did was bring that nonsense to Texas, which had been pretty well under control and self-regulating since the SMU days.
Now with NIL we can get back in the game and do it legally.

Smart seems like a miserable person to be around. Seems like this is a trait though that most of these really good coaches share.

Remember this next time Texas does a coaching search, and tell all your friends. Please

The CFB playoff is worse than the BCS ever was.
The BCS would usually have some interesting bowl matchups outside of the top 2. The CFP has done a poor job of that.

Is that good?
Only slightly better than Cincy's QB, who hasn't had the benefit of protection, open receivers, or a robust run game.

Young is 13 of 22 for 128 with a pick.

nonsense. people tune in to watch #1 seed duke blast the #66 seed sisters of the poor at 11am to start march madness.
if you build it, they will come.
Works in NCAA BB because the entire tourney is an event and there's nothing else like it this side of the FIFA World Cup.
If NCAA FB goes to that model, maybe. Otherwise, no. No one is watching those games.

I got a good chuckle.
Depends on who made the list. I don't like sleeve tats, so Cali is rough territory for me. NY/NJ is happy hunting if you're a fan of big glasses and big noses.
Give me Texas, Arizona, Hawaii, Florida, Colorado, and Louisiana at the top and the rest don't matter.

for the good of the game, kill the bowls, expand to 16, and break the cartel at the top
it's our only hope
What's this mean? If the top 4 teams yield mismatches in a playoff, it would be even more egregious in a 16 team playoff.
If people aren't tuning in to watch lower tier bowls, they're also not tuning in to see a Georgia demolish a BYU or a 3 loss Utah-type team just because they managed to win the Pac 12.
Enjoy the game.

Does BoB know Cincy can't stop them if they just run the ball?
Some people say Bama's QB is the best in college football, so you would think they could rely on the pass. Maybe it's just their one receiver is really good, and Cincy has mostly shut him down?
Doesn't seem like this can work both ways
