Only because  I had not seen it in 3-4 years - I drove up to Michigan where the work is being done. It getting closer to finished. Probably late summer.

It was good to get up there and see it. I did not realize how much minor detail stuff remains. The piping has to sit for several weeks or it will bunch up. Need to polish the gauge surrounds. I knew the cockpit rails and dash need recovering and that is a real pain. Lots of curves and angles done just right so it doesn't look like I did it. I am doing the interior when it gets back

I'm on a classic truck/jeep policy, so that might be the difference.  I'm just glad to have better coverage.

To be fair I haven't read the policy in  a year or two. They might have changed it

  3. Ditto the comment on dreaming. I told them I had just started a cool dream when they woke me up. Guy laughed and said they shoot for REM stage.

I've had my 69' C10 for 20 years now.  Great truck, but nothing fancy.  I've always only carried liability insurance on it because of all of the restrictions associated with guaranteed value full coverage.  I just learned that Hagerty has policies that don't have mileage limiters and don't require vehicles to be kept in the garage.  Still can't be a daily driver, but that just means you might have to show proof of owning another vehicle.  I just got a new Hagerty policy that has collision and comp for about $100 more per year than my previous liability policy.

Not sure if anyone else is in a similar situation, but I thought I'd pass along the info.

Interesting - I have Haggerty on the MGA and they require a garage

It is going to be a beautiful new car, and I can hardly wait to see its finished photos.
Is that an original or reproduction ‘62 chrome grill?

However, I sure hope it isn’t going to have a Lucas Electrics wiring harness, two six volt batteries, and non-fireproof floorboards.
Guess you know what I am talking about. 😁

It's a new harness and will be one 12V positive ground battery. Also original grill - a replacement by the guys doing the work. All my chrome is or will be original except hubcaps. Everyone wants 150 per cap I can buy 4 new ones for 150. Also the wing mirrors will be Lucas clones since OEM is unobtainable. I definitely what what you are talking about. Back in college on my first one the starter switch - it is a pull cable to the switch that sends to starter - shorted out while eating lunch. The arc was similar to an arc welder until battery drained. Melted about a foot of the harness. Luckily I got to Sears and bought wire and crimps. Car was running by dinner. had to crank start a few days until a new switch arrived.

  6. Still amazes me how different the blue paint looks from picture to picture. However I am happy with how it looks in person. Also it never look like the factory job- this is 2 stage versus one stage cellulose paint

Anyone in the San Antonio area ever use zoysia? How is it in the shade/sides of house? I don't want to invest a ton of money up front so was thinking of just getting some zoysia all in 1 seed and spreading after trying to get weeds under control.

Not in SA or even Austin anymore but first question is what type? I put in Palisades in Austin and saw Troph did the same. My research came back with Palisades was the best option for the heat. I did not have shade worth anything and the back yard faced west. I let the #$&!!!! St Augustine die in the previous summer inferno and put zoysia in April. Here are a couple of pictures from June/July. Also added 10 feet of gravel to avoid maintenance on that section. Also no comments on why I had a rain gauge - optimistic.

Body shop sent me a picture of the painted cowl.  They are waiting for lower humidity to paint the body.  Said they won’t send pics of the body, I have to come see it in person. :)

Lower humidity - better plan for a Christmas paint job  :)

All your pictures of the cabinet painting bring back bad memories for me. We had a ridiculous amount of doors and drawers and that shit took me forever.

No kidding. The previous owner put black cabinets in kitchen and I wanted white. Plus for no good reason he put small cabinets around the top with doors about a foot square. Fourteen of them! I sprayed all the doors and rolled the surrounding stuff. It took 4 coats. If i were to do it again I would have sealed off the kitchen and sprayed instead of rolling. I thought it might take 2 coats to cover but 4 was a real pain

What about the assholes that just cut through the gas station in order to avoid the intersection all together?

They will have a lot more problems. Luckily there isn't an entrance on that side. They would have to go thru the hedges.

I agree knowing about it helps but the brain does odd things. If I am at the yield sign and see someone turning left I "forget" about them when they are passed my vision field because I am looking hard to the left for "legal" drivers. Taking the foot off the brake and then turn back to straight ahead and the car that turned left is now sideways to hit the entrance. As I mentioned the really goofy part (other than an entrance in the merge lane) is a second entrance 20 feet farther to the same lot.

  12. Appreciate the replies. I don't want to have a wreck and try to figure out fault. I understand yielding to anyone coming my direction even if they illegally changed lanes. That's part of my issue here. technically they are in front of me but going 90 degrees across traffic to make that turn.  Plus -  Even more frustrating and not in the picture - right past the goofy entrance (about 20 feet) is a second entrance to the same place. That one is much easier to determine fault since the right turn lane has been merged into the existing right lane.

  13. This is an incredibly poorly designed intersection but I am stuck with going thru it a lot. Just about smacked someone this morning

The satellite picture is poor but here it is.  The silver car turning right from Oakwood is exactly where the problem is. They have a yield to turn right.

The red arrow is the problem. People turning left from Oakwood are cruising sideways across three lanes to go into the gas station and they almost come to stop to avoid bottoming out on the entrance.  The entrance should never have been allowed but it is there. Making the right turn you are looking to the left to yield and when you look back to straight ahead there is a vehicle essentially sideways to use the entrance.

My view is the the vehicle turning left has is protected for a turn to the leftmost lane not any of lanes they want. Plus they are actually entering the yield lane to make that turn.

Or am I supposed to yield to any vehicle in front of me no matter how they got there.

That was Tom Brookshire, former Eagle, and caught a lot of shit over it.

Not to be "that guy" but it was Alex Hawkins.  He also once commented on a player that had a cast on both arms - when you go to the mens room you find out who your friends are. Didn't stay on NFL broadcasts for too long after that

edit - should have read all the replies before responding

  15. No idea if it is still there but from 2000-2010 or so the Marriott at the Alamo had a mid sixties suicide door Lincoln sitting in the entrance area. It also had an Impeach Nixon bumper stick on the rear bumper.

Some of the priced were just out there. Picked up shirts, hats, coffee hugs etc. Looked at a sweater but 395 bucks made me decide no.

Why would you even consider driving if you’re staying only 1 mile away?

I wouldn't do it the second time. You learn the hard way. Washington Road did not look like the best place to walk. Kinda like hiking in a field

  18. well it was a fun day today. First time and fairly impressed with everything except the traffic - both car and foot. Took almost an hour from leaving the hotel (1 mile away) to get parked. Then at least 45 minutes to get in the gate. It was great to walk parts of the back nine before any golfers showed up. Then about an hour after lunch to hit merchandise stuff.  It was a little difficult at first to get orientated. Obviously walking looks totally different that what you see on TV. Looking at the map and the course I still mis identified a few holes the first time. I wanted to watch a little of the practice tee but the stands are way back from the practice area. If I get lucky again and get the same hotel I am walking down Washington instead of driving. The traffic situation really can't be fixed unless you want a huge road that gets used one week of the year.

here’s how my Tuesday trip went…

Free parking by the back gate, it opens before the course opens. They have food stands and a large merchandise tent in back. Get there as early as you can. Get in line, as soon as it opens, get in line for the merchandise tent. Over buy, golf polos, caps, whatever. There will be a ups or fed ex tent right there, ship it home. Grab coffee whatever, then go get in line to enter the course. I think it’s right behind #16 tee. The guards will tell you who’s playing early, groups out, and such.

we shot over to #3 green / # 4 tee. Stayed there until lunchish time, saw all the big names. then hit the practice tee, saw all the clubhouse and upfront area, then walked the rest if the course. Left about 15 mins before the course closed

Pretty much my plan... Thanks for the tips.  Overbuying - yep. I am driving so no UPS.  A friend who has been a few times corrected my wrong assumption. I thought it should be no issue to shop after the day ends since they could not be sold out on Tuesday. I was informed that they set out stuff each day so a lot will be sold out at the end of the day.  Only difference is I plan to walk the entire course backwards. I always do that at tour events. I get to see the course and multiple groups. In this case I am guessing I can see the final holes without a lot of activity and take pictures.
