Car dealerships that call you multiple times with offers of upgrades or trade in quotes just because I got my oil changed. No I don't want to buy a new car. I just needed a damn oil change
Car dealers that call you five years later for the car you sold 2 years ago

Probably old enough to drive a clutch car

If I get airborne during the next drive I am blaming all of you. A live rear axle makes hopping a non zero chance

Besides the top, I had a tonneau cover for my 1960 MGA.
It was a lot more convenient for everyday use and really cut down on the frequency of dealing with raising and lowering the awkward (IMO) top.
Are tonneau covers still made at all?Yep they are. However my 60 year old one is really in great shape. Helped that my brother put the top up when he stored it under his desk for 15 years. The shop had their upholstery shop replace the zipper but otherwise still good. And totally agree. On my first MGA the tonneau was great for avoiding the top. You literally could break a finger in all the moving parts if you were not careful - especially trying to pull the top up at night

And essentially done. The long backordered rail came in and was installed. Heading up there in early July for last time. Still going back and forth on putting a top on it. I actually am taking the top frame to be blasted this week and will probably have them put it in just in case. Only items left are some minor punch items. Garage owner plans to put about 50 miles on it to make sure of everything.

I've said it before - any engineer that designs parts for a car is required to actually service the part on a working car.

This. The absolute worst is getting almost what you want, when you could’ve had exactly what you wanted. It's not going to bug me. I can live with the speedo needle jumping around. I can also live with it being fixed. I can't live with it if the fix adds three months. I can always send the speedo off after getting the car back. The shop also told me they are adding something I was not aware off. The doors are aluminum and there is only a small one inch brace inside. They are adding a third party brace to strengthen the aluminum. So not quite done yet

Just got an email that the backordered part arrived. Of course there is always a new issue. Do I want to live with a flaky speedo or send it out? Last month I said live with it but am thinking about it. I can always send it later. Removing the speedo is literally five minutes and requires no tools t all unless the cable is too tight and needs pliers

I bet it's tough to find a real body guy (not just a fender swapper) under 50 years old these days.
That's kinda what the garage that is working on my MGA said. Their comment was that the current shops only want insurance works since it is quick. Luckily my shop has a body shop in the same town that does older cars. Not quick or cheap though.

Getting real close. Door panels and kick panels are in. The seats are the 45 year old ones. They are going to upholstery this week. The only real issue is the missing trim on the dash. It is still back ordered but the national MGA convention was 2 hours away from the garage and the owner went over to discuss this with the vendor (in addition to being at the convention). Optimistic it will be shipped soon

I think your price is too low. I spent more than that on my roadster in this thread but it did need a lot more. However changing a different color is a real challenge. You are looking at engine compartment, door jams etc. You probably would be better off selling and buying the color you want

It took me a few minutes to figure out what they did to the 59. Some interesting subtle changes. Instead of the fender piping they filled the gaps with bondo and painted. A slightly cleaner look but if you ever have to remove the fender it's a repaint

Went to the local Euro Brit car show for North Alabama. There were some serious entries and a ton of Porsche's.
Since I have an MGA I check out the locals. Every one is outstanding/I saw this one in 2019 at NASA car show. The dove grey and red pops

Only one type available. Because I was bored I found the actual wording
The vehicle is operated in "club activities, exhibitions, tours, parades," and can be
driven to these locations for the purposes of attending these events or activities. For purposes of
Section 40-12-290, Code of Alabama 1975, the term "club activities" shall refer to the sponsored
activities of Vintage Vehicle owner organizations, such as the Antique Automobile Club of
America, or the Model A Club of America. The term "exhibitions" shall be deemed to refer to
public displays of Vintage Vehicles and shall include antique car shows within or without this
state. The term "tours" shall be deemed to be an organized trip comprised of several Vintage
Vehicles to a predetermined location(s). The term "parades" is deemed to be a public procession
on a festive or ceremonial occasion.
(3) The following activities by an owner or operator of a vehicle displaying a Vintage
Vehicle license plate are outside the criteria of legal use and in conflict with the provisions of
Section 40-12-290, Code of Alabama 1975:
(a) The use of the Vintage Vehicle license plate on a vehicle that is being driven to
school, to work, shopping, etc. This type of operation constitutes “general transportation
purposes” as this term is used in Section 40-12-290, Cod-

At least Texas has reasonable rules on classic plates. I'm too honest to get the Alabama version since, per the regulation, the only time you can drive the car is to a car show.

Technically the voters for HOF are only supposed to consider the on field performance. This came up before with Lawrence Taylor and Terrell Owens. Technically is highly variable
-
Just an add on. I am pretty sure I posed some of these way back in this thread but here are some before and after shots of the MGA. And yes, the color does look totally different depending on what light is nearby
I am heading up there next weekend. It is about 98% done but the 2% is a back ordered trim piece

Heading back to Michigan tomorrow for the final review of the MGA. The shop told me that they found a fix for the speedometer issue so hopefully the only remaining items are mounting the top frame - which I painted and have in car - and misc checks
