  1. She’s tall, athletic, and coordinated but doesn’t seem that good at actually playing basketball. I’d be upset if the spurs got her. Rather them take a chance on a long wing or god forbid someone who could knock down an open three.
  2. @Derka Unless Bailey already has a guarantee from a preferred destination and is sand bagging it to get there, he is looking at a Cam Whitmore style drop.
  3. I started to put this in the regular season thread but it's time to put last year in the rear view mirror. They lucked into #2 in the lotto and if they don't take Harper and do some stupid shit instead, I'm going to lose my shit. Biggest needs: outside shooting and outside shooting, size and muscle on the front line, and more vets who have been there done that. I could take or leave KD. I have faith that they won't overpay for him. If it's Vassell, Barnes and 14 plus some second rounders, fine. I'd honestly be more upset about losing Barnes than Vassell. Barnes was fantastic last year. But they can't trade Sochan in the package. Not because I think that he's ever going to become a reliable shooter or even competent, but look at the west over the next 5 years and they need someone who can match up defensively one on one against guys like SGA and Jalen Williams at OKC and Luka in LA and Ant in Minnesota. Between Sochan and Castle, they have two very, very good on ball perimeter defenders. I think Harper can be a plus defender too. Fox isn't a shut down guy, but he's capable enough that he's not going to get hunted every possession. I'll have some more thoughts on the draft in the next few days. If they don't move 14 (and my hunch is that they will for a similar package they got for Dillingham last year), I'd like them to target Rasheer Fleming or Cedric Coward. If Queen were to fall that far down, then he'd be my favorite but I don't think he lasts that long. I haven't seen enough of Essengue, Collin Murray-Boyles, or Asa Newell to have an opinion. I see Carter Bryant mocked to them a bit, but his shooting makes me nervous. Same thing about Demin, but I like his upside a bit more than Bryant's as a creator. But I'm not sure they need more shot creation with Harper assumingly coming on board. Sorber's injury scares me. I think this is going to be a wild ass off season. Too many owners will look around, see that the league has had 7 different champions in 7 years, see how the Pacers made the finals, and say, "why not us?" I'm expecting the Spurs to not get caught up in the frenzy and stay the course. There's going to be a lot of action and nobody outside of Brooklyn has real cap to play with. Teams are trying to avoid the apron penalties like the plague. At the end of the summer, there are going to be some bargains and good deals to be had. There are just too many dumb owners/GMs and bad contracts out there. So I hope they're patient with whatever they do. I also hope they hire some veteran coaches to put around Mitch. GSG
  4. No. 4 frp for Bane is ridiculous, especially since one of them is a swap for 2026 with Washington and Phoenix who should both be lottery bound next year. Unless I’m reading that incorrectly. And his big contract kicks in this year. I haven’t looked at Orlando’s cap situation but they have to be moving into apron territory with the extension they have Wagner. And Memphis I guess is clearing cap for JJJ extension? Accumulating resources for a big move? Weird move for a team trying to compete but that’s a huge haul for Bane.
  5. Nice guy. Greenwood was neighbors with one of my friends in high school and used to give us his tickets every now and then. RIP.
  6. It's ratings/money driven, I'm sure. Saturday night is a bad night for TV vs. Sunday night. But I agree it's annoying. Not sure this corresponds to the eye test. I'd like to see the sample size. Indy is doing everything they can to get Dort off of Haliburton, usually trying to screen him and get them to switch onto a big. They were targeting Wiggins some in the last game too. Indy sure as shit isn't targeting SGA like Boston was targeting Luka.
  7. Exactly. Durant has all the leverage here. All he has to say is sure, you can trade me to team x but I’m not signing an extension. There’s not much trade value for a one year rental. That’s pretty much what Fox did in Sacramento and why the spurs got him so relatives cheaply. And that’s why spurs fans think they are going to get him for Vassell, Barnes, and the number 14 pick if that’s where he wants to be.
  8. That list isn't complete. Stan Albeck was traded by the Spurs to the Nets for Fred Roberts, cash and a second round pick. And why did they have to throw shade at Doc Rivers?
  9. I think it's a really interesting finals from a strategy/tactical standpoint. I give the Pacers a puncher's change against OKC. I felt the same way about them last year against Boston, at least until Haliburton got hurt. They also have this team of destiny thing going for them that you can't overlook. OKC hasn't really shot it consistently well from three and they aren't a particularly great rebounding team either. I can see Indiana making them uncomfortable if they get it going from outside and OKC has to play from behind. The thing that makes it tough on the Pacers is how many great perimeter defenders OKC can throw at Haliburton - SGA, Caruso, Wallace, Dort, even Williams if they want to throw a bigger guy at him. Haliburton is going to have to work for everything he gets and they aren't going to be able to exploit the Thunder like they could the Knicks with Brunson and KAT. Then again, OKC is a little bit easier to defend because just about everything is SGA or Williams going one on one. Really looking forward to the Siakim / Williams matchup as well.
  10. 19 and 11 on 8-12 from the field and +25 tonight. That would be the best game of Rudy Goberts career. I don't care if he's doing it in a wheelchair.
  11. He's looked pretty good this series for a guy with one knee.
  12. Gobert's shitty contract also forced you to trade KAT. Congrats on the two western conference bridesmaid dresses but your franchise would still be better off having never made that trade. It was dumb then. It was still dumb even when you lucked out and came back on Denver. It was dumb after OKC ran you out of the gym. It will be dumb this off season when you try to retool with no assets. And it will be especially dumb when Anthony Edwards finally gets tired of this shit and demands to be traded.
  13. Also, the comp to Flagg is John Havlicek.
  14. I like Toro downtown. Pretty good vibe and tapas, plus hidden door bar downstairs is cool to check out. Also add the bar at the Havana to @LebongJames otherwise great list. The Bonham is huge. I don't see that being a problem.
  15. Indiana -OKC would be a great finals. Indy don't give a fuck and just pushes pace the entire time. As great as the thunder defense is, the Pacers just make you play differently. Obviously some work left to do for both squads, but I think the Pacers will give them a series.
  16. I think OKC runs them off the court. If Williams shoots just average in the Denver series, it's probably over in 5-6 games. OKC has about 5 different guys they can throw at Edwards. Randle is going to have to play out of his ass again for them to win. I just don't see it.
  17. The players still get the same percentage of the league’s income. It doesn’t really change anything for them. It just saves the owners from themselves. At least the few like Ballmer and the Golden State guys who don’t give a shit how much they spend. At some point you may see superstars take less than their max to keep their teams together. And the smart teams are going to trade assets for under the radar players on team friendly contracts. It’s the only way to manage this thing. It’s funny, people love the NFL for its parity, but the nba is about to have its 7th different champion in 7 years and people are starting to complain about it. It migjt be good for the league that more teams have legitimate title shots every year.
  18. This series deserves a game 7. So good.
  19. Who knew Caruso was the Jokic stopper?
  20. Leave Giannis alone. He's going to screw up their cap going forward and he's going to deplete the assets that would allow them compete for years. They got so lucky, again. Take Harper. Don't think twice about it. Don't overcomplicate it. I'm concerned that they don't have enough (any) shooters, but let's not over think this. Harper is going to be unstoppable playing off of Wemby. They can find some shooters through trades or free agency. They are building this the right way. It's not going to take them long to make the jump.
  21. You misspelled San Antonio.
  22. I’ll say the same thing i said about OKC as last year. They have no offense other than SGA or Williams going one on one or setting a high screen for each other. Schematically they are easy to defend and I don’t know how well that works in a long series when players get more used to guarding each other. They run great out of bounds actions but their half court stuff is not imaginative at all. I just don’t get it.
  23. Denver was due for a stinker after the quick game 7 turnaround from the Clippers series and the game 1 theft in OKC. The margin was ridiculous but I don't think the outcome should have surprised anyone. That's going to be an interesting and (I hope) long series. The Celtics / Knicks thing is just odd. I don't think the C's are going to change the way they play and the Knicks have a lot of guys who can switch out on the perimeter to match up on defense. The Celtics caught just about every possible injury break in their title run last year. Do we really know how mentally tough they are? Or how truly good they are are? Not having Porzingis is hurting them right now, but that's really been the story of his whole career. I don't think they are out of the series, but those were two gut wrenching L's.
