durant has one year left on his contract, that's not screaming 'big trade package'
Exactly. Durant has all the leverage here. All he has to say is sure, you can trade me to team x but I’m not signing an extension. There’s not much trade value for a one year rental. That’s pretty much what Fox did in Sacramento and why the spurs got him so relatives cheaply. And that’s why spurs fans think they are going to get him for Vassell, Barnes, and the number 14 pick if that’s where he wants to be.

Can the coach of a NBA team be traded?
The answer to that question is: yes.
In fact, there have been five times in the past when a NBA coach has been traded, and some of these trades involved some of the biggest names in the NBA coaching fraternity.1. Mike Dunleavy, Sr.
Dunleavy, Sr. was traded from the Los Angeles Lakers to the Milwaukee Bucks for two second-round picks.
The Lakers were looking to make a change in the post-Magic Johnson era, while the Bucks were looking for a strong head coach.
2. Pat Riley.
Pat Riley left the New York Knicks for the Miami Heat in 1995.
The NBA investigated the Heat and Riley for tampering, and eventually decided that the Knicks should be compensated with a first-round pick, as well as $1 million cash.
3. Stan Van Gundy.
In 2007, Van Gundy was traded from the Miami Heat to the Orlando Magic.
The agreed-upon price for Van Gundy was two 2nd round picks in the 2008 NBA Draft.
4. Doc Rivers.
In 2013, five years after leading the Boston Celtics to a title, Doc Rivers was traded from the Celtics to the Los Angeles Clippers for a 2015 1st-round pick.
Despite having a loaded team and Doc Rivers as their coach, the Clippers were unable to win a title.
5. Jason Kidd.
In 2014, the Brooklyn Nets traded Jason Kidd to the Milwaukee Bucks for two second-round picks.
That list isn't complete. Stan Albeck was traded by the Spurs to the Nets for Fred Roberts, cash and a second round pick. And why did they have to throw shade at Doc Rivers?

I think it's a really interesting finals from a strategy/tactical standpoint. I give the Pacers a puncher's change against OKC. I felt the same way about them last year against Boston, at least until Haliburton got hurt. They also have this team of destiny thing going for them that you can't overlook.
OKC hasn't really shot it consistently well from three and they aren't a particularly great rebounding team either. I can see Indiana making them uncomfortable if they get it going from outside and OKC has to play from behind. The thing that makes it tough on the Pacers is how many great perimeter defenders OKC can throw at Haliburton - SGA, Caruso, Wallace, Dort, even Williams if they want to throw a bigger guy at him. Haliburton is going to have to work for everything he gets and they aren't going to be able to exploit the Thunder like they could the Knicks with Brunson and KAT. Then again, OKC is a little bit easier to defend because just about everything is SGA or Williams going one on one. Really looking forward to the Siakim / Williams matchup as well.

Yea. He’s one hard landing from laying on the floor. Again.19 and 11 on 8-12 from the field and +25 tonight. That would be the best game of Rudy Goberts career. I don't care if he's doing it in a wheelchair.

He's looked pretty good this series for a guy with one knee.

Gobert's shitty contract also forced you to trade KAT. Congrats on the two western conference bridesmaid dresses but your franchise would still be better off having never made that trade. It was dumb then. It was still dumb even when you lucked out and came back on Denver. It was dumb after OKC ran you out of the gym. It will be dumb this off season when you try to retool with no assets. And it will be especially dumb when Anthony Edwards finally gets tired of this shit and demands to be traded.

I like Toro downtown. Pretty good vibe and tapas, plus hidden door bar downstairs is cool to check out. Also add the bar at the Havana to @LebongJames otherwise great list.

The Bonham is huge. I don't see that being a problem.

Indiana -OKC would be a great finals. Indy don't give a fuck and just pushes pace the entire time. As great as the thunder defense is, the Pacers just make you play differently. Obviously some work left to do for both squads, but I think the Pacers will give them a series.

I obviously like the Wolves and may have a few bucks on them but the OKC dick-sucking just feels a little tired. They looked very beatable for a lot of the Denver series but as soon as they get G7 everyone is right back to "these guys are awesome and they're winning the Finals".
They should be the favorite and if you gave everyone equal odds I'd take OKC to win but I'm not handing them a title until I see how they look after Minny punches them in the mouth. Because it's going to happen.
I think OKC runs them off the court. If Williams shoots just average in the Denver series, it's probably over in 5-6 games. OKC has about 5 different guys they can throw at Edwards. Randle is going to have to play out of his ass again for them to win. I just don't see it.

The players still get the same percentage of the league’s income. It doesn’t really change anything for them. It just saves the owners from themselves. At least the few like Ballmer and the Golden State guys who don’t give a shit how much they spend.
At some point you may see superstars take less than their max to keep their teams together. And the smart teams are going to trade assets for under the radar players on team friendly contracts. It’s the only way to manage this thing.
It’s funny, people love the NFL for its parity, but the nba is about to have its 7th different champion in 7 years and people are starting to complain about it. It migjt be good for the league that more teams have legitimate title shots every year.

Given his age (just said the same to my boys) what's a realistic trade for the freak? Who and what would you give up?
Leave Giannis alone. He's going to screw up their cap going forward and he's going to deplete the assets that would allow them compete for years. They got so lucky, again. Take Harper. Don't think twice about it. Don't overcomplicate it.
I'm concerned that they don't have enough (any) shooters, but let's not over think this. Harper is going to be unstoppable playing off of Wemby. They can find some shooters through trades or free agency. They are building this the right way. It's not going to take them long to make the jump.

I’ll say the same thing i said about OKC as last year. They have no offense other than SGA or Williams going one on one or setting a high screen for each other. Schematically they are easy to defend and I don’t know how well that works in a long series when players get more used to guarding each other. They run great out of bounds actions but their half court stuff is not imaginative at all. I just don’t get it.

Denver was due for a stinker after the quick game 7 turnaround from the Clippers series and the game 1 theft in OKC. The margin was ridiculous but I don't think the outcome should have surprised anyone. That's going to be an interesting and (I hope) long series.
The Celtics / Knicks thing is just odd. I don't think the C's are going to change the way they play and the Knicks have a lot of guys who can switch out on the perimeter to match up on defense. The Celtics caught just about every possible injury break in their title run last year. Do we really know how mentally tough they are? Or how truly good they are are? Not having Porzingis is hurting them right now, but that's really been the story of his whole career. I don't think they are out of the series, but those were two gut wrenching L's.

I gotta be honest. I'm hardly following recruiting any more. I'm just assuming that we're getting 90%-ish of the top targets and then they are going to backfill any roster misses through the portal.
It's great being the Joneses and all, and lord knows that we took it in the ass from Ohio State, Georgia, Bama, LSU etc. for far too many years and it feels good to turn the tables on those fuckers... but the ins and outs of recruiting isn't all that interesting to me any longer. Is that just me?

Jokic is too strong for either Hartenstein or Holmgren. He can bully either one right into the basket. OKC doesn’t want to double but I’d take my chances with the other guys knocking down shots. They need a bigger body on him and they just don’t have one.
-
Knicks gotta foul here and not let them get off a three. Right?

Derrick White makes every little winning play. It’s uncanny.

It's ratings/money driven, I'm sure. Saturday night is a bad night for TV vs. Sunday night. But I agree it's annoying.
Not sure this corresponds to the eye test. I'd like to see the sample size. Indy is doing everything they can to get Dort off of Haliburton, usually trying to screen him and get them to switch onto a big. They were targeting Wiggins some in the last game too. Indy sure as shit isn't targeting SGA like Boston was targeting Luka.
