  1. The show is okay, most of the characters kinda suck and the story isn't that interesting, BUT Aemond is that dude.

He risked life and limb to subdue the dragon, lost an eye and didn't cry, is now a beast with them sticks as shown in the yard and I loved his reply to illustrate bigger picture vision and hunger "Ayo, don't care about your stupid dress-up mock court, dog. I'll let these blades sing in blood, bruh.".

Then he had a funny plausible deniability diss before he ate little brown hair boys weak little right cross like it was an hor devours.

The only guy he respects is the guy who sliced Vaemond's head like it was a cartoon ham, had him looking like Among Us with his head bone sliced in half.  And I think Daemon respects Aemond too with his similar hairstyle and personality and similar misshaped and unattractive face, as you saw with a little smirk and nod. The showdown will be cool with Daemon versus Aemond as Aemond will be the lead dog for Alicent in her battle as her creepy perverted eldest will just be a drunk pervert.

  2. I read this today and thought of this horrible thread with all you horrible people in it:

It’s no surprise that the global lockdown caused religious revival.

Last year, VCs invested $175m into faith-based apps (a ~360% YoY increase). Some relatively simple ones like Bible meditation app Abide have amassed huge user bases.

Investors have called it a “land grab” happening right before our eyes. We combined market insights and startup ideas in the religion tech market report.

    • Why a Bible coloring book app has grown to nearly 1m users
    • How “SaaS for churches” could become the next $10B industry
    • VR/AR solutions that are redefining the church experience

  3. Just caught up. Really not sure why I keep watching this show. It's like if NBC were to air a marvel comedy in primetime for the women and gays demographic (in the vein of Friends or Will & Grace), but without the cultural relevance. I think I'm outtie five-thousy.

  4. Well, who doesn't like to see the lawyers being the winners in all this as usual?

    The key players:

Musk is represented by Skadden on the deal side and by Skadden and Quinn Emanuel in litigation. Top partners at the firms bill about $2,000 an hour. Lawyers estimated to DealBook that the firms could be charging about $30,000 to $40,000 an hour, or $5 million to $8 million a month. That means Musk could have paid about $50 million, plus perhaps another $50 million in the run-up to litigation.

Twitter relied on Wilson Sonsini and Simpson Thacher, where top partners also most likely bill about $2,000 an hour, for deal work. And for litigation it’s primarily relying on Wachtell, the blue-chip firm known in legal circles for its bespoke (and opaque) pricing, including hourly billing, flat fees and contingency deals. Depending on its arrangements, Wachtell could bring in $100 million to $200 million, lawyers estimate.

Between those firms alone, the Twitter case has probably already generated about $150 million to $300 million in fees. But then add in all of the other lawyers involved in litigation, depositions, the deal and more. And that figure could grow if this actually goes to trial, or otherwise goes awry.

Idiot indeed. At least wait until you are 100% sure it didn't reach the seats and fell into that space. Even then, stupid to jump that far down. He didn't escape without some injury and now has zero to show for it.

    Bad take.

If the ball is worth $2mm (which I read earlier today is an estimate), jumping down and risking minor (in this case, zero) injury in order to potentially get the ball is smart. You are already good odds for winning the "lottery" being 1 in 50k or whatever the crowd size was, but being in that front row puts you at like 1 in 200 or something.

It was a good bet, didn't work out.

  6. I should qualify that I say all that above ^^ as a fan of the Mavs. I have the Luka 1's I wore to the Fair actually and Nike hasn't even officially released them yet, to give an indication of how much I like Luka and the Mavs.

  7. Crossposting from the Texas State Fair thread:

Went to the Mavs Vault at the Hall of State Building it wasn't worth the time. If you are a Mavs fan you already know all this stuff anyways, and there are some game worn jerseys you can look at (is that supposed to be cool and awe-inspiring?) with the big center piece being the display of the 2011 Championship trophy. I assumed it was a high-quality replica for roadshows like this one, but this video claims it's real.

If you are a passionate MFFL (like weirdly into the Mavs not just a big fan) you would probably like it. If you are limited on time and/or don't want to walk all the way over to that side of the Fair ground from Midway, I'd pass.

And when you consider that Viserys now knows that Otto wasn't just trying to besmirch Rhaenyra's character, that she is a sloot who feels no compunction against banging her knights and filling the line of succession with a bunch of bastards, it's reasonable that Viserys would regret his treatment of Otto.  And he's had Alicent in his ear for a decade reminding him how he backstabbed the one person in the realm most loyal to him.

Does he now know that? The show seems to take great pains to show us that Viserys is a very weak man and leader who is pot-committed to his denial of in-your-face-reality and general delusions around his daughter (and family, as it extends to Daemon as well).

And to your last point, I think this last episode showed that when escalated to a choose one or the other he backs his daughter, 10 years of earworming or not.

  10. Good episode. Still don’t like Otto and think it’s weird he’s just back in the role of hand after being fired for being sus. This is lazy writing of inviting the fox, who you know is a fox, back into the hen house in service of making your plot work easier.

  11. To think, this is all because of Bill Hwang.

Most experts have pointed out that yes, Credit Suisse’s rapid CDS jump does mean investors think the firm has a higher probability of defaulting on its loans. But if you zoom out a little, that probability is still very low

From yesterday which is a good reality check:

    Quote

As of 9 a.m. New York time today, five-year CDS on Credit Suisse Group AG was trading at about 350 basis points, meaning roughly — roughly! — that I would have to pay you $3.50 per year for this bet, and you’d pay me $100 if Credit Suisse defaults. What does this tell you about the market-implied probability that Credit Suisse will default on its debt? Well, Credit Suisse CDS was trading at about 250 basis points on Friday,  about 135 in June, about 57 at the start of the year. So it tells you that the market-implied probability of default has gone up a lot. But it is still absolutely low. You would not charge me $3.50 per year for $100 of insurance against Credit Suisse defaulting unless you thought the chances of that happening were slim.
