I think you need to be educated on opinions and personal taste. Just because somebody doesn't like what you like doesn't mean they're wrong, it may mean you're a fucking idiot for expecting that of them.

But just to be thorough I went to YouTube and looked up the best of this guy. Found this 30 minute highlight clip and watched about 23 minutes of it.

Since it is a highlight clip all of this should kill, but it is poorly done. His delivery sucks, his timing sucks, and his situations are implausible. The Starbucks thing was complete bullshit anyway, they don't say anything about "eat". They say "what can I prepare for you today". Immediately after that he almost saves it with the InNOut which was funny, but he immediately ruins it by pushing it too far. He doesn't know when to cut after hitting with a solid punchline.

It's like he wants to be a mix of Seinfeld and Jim Gaffigan but he has none of Gaffigan's awkward  comedic timing and none of Seinfeld's plausible social commentary.

Look, you're allowed to your own opinion and personal taste, but if you think he's going for a mix of Seinfeld or Gaffigan I don't think you really understand what he's doing at all.

And as far as his delivery, timing, and such, you couldn't be more wrong.  But I guess you're right; you are entitled to your own opinion.  Your opinion is just a terrible take.

Until this thread I had no idea Segura has been on a Rogan show. Rogan is literal trash, that makes me think less of Segura. Still funny though.

They're old friends.  I can't remember the smaller details but Rogan somewhat discovered Segura before he blew up, befriended him, and took him on the road as an opener or feature act.  Segura was also one of the first guests on Rogan's podcast when it was just in Rogan's living room with something like 7 listeners.  Convinced Segura to start his own podcast.

I'm not a big Rogan fan but Segura is his own guy.  They're friends, but Segura outshines him as a standup and does a completely different thing.

The upocoming special will be his best yet and it will be interesting to see which bits make the cut.

I hope so and that's encouraging to hear.  He's one of my favorite standups but Ball Hog was fairly disappointing compared to his older specials.

  4. This new season of Love After Lockup really dropped the ball.  I just don't care about any of these couples and am struggling to pay attention the whole episode.  Considering this thread fell to page 4 I'm guessing I'm not alone in that opinion.

  5. Appreciate all the great advice y'all always give.  I think I will try to dip my toes back into meetings.  If anyone has any good group suggestions they recommend in the Fort Worth area, feel free to let me know.

What would the AA community's thoughts be on someone who's been sober for almost 2 years starting AA, getting a sponsor, and working the steps?  I've been wanting to try AA for a long time, but I have this serious hang up that nobody there will take me seriously because I already have a lot of sober time.  I also feel like I may be wasting others' time over people who really need help now.

For background, I'm an alcoholic.  I struggled off and on with quitting throughout my late 20's and 30's.  I went to rehab years ago but didn't stay sober.  Relapsed within two weeks of getting out and had another 3+ years of hell.  Got to a point after COVID where my health was really starting to take a turn for the worse from drinking so much.  I was diagnosed with diabetes, blood work was bad in just about every way from cholesterol, triglycerides, ALT/AST, etc.  I had liver pains all the time.  I had the realization that I was probably not going to live many more years if I kept on drinking, and I didn't like what my life had to show for it from drinking it away.

After a thousand starts, something just clicked at the right time, and I got sober through sheer white knuckling. I meant to go to AA seriously at some point, but I just kept pushing through on my own.  I think because a lot of good things happened to me in early sobriety from the complete reversal of my diabetes, my health returning, losing a ton of weight, and social/life experiences improving that the highs just sort of carried me through the early months.  I had a ton of close calls and cravings that peaked around the 10th month mark where I actually bought booze for the first time before finally pouring it down the sink without ever actually taking a sip. From that point on, for some reason, I've been in a much better state of mind and don't really get any serious cravings or anxiety anymore.  I feel like I've worked on my inner self a lot, am more confident, and don't really think about drinking all that much except in passing.  I'll even go on dates and hang out with friends in bars and there's not much more than passing thoughts about drinking that I'm easily able to push away with very little effort.

So why do I want to go to AA now?  I've sort of hit a wall on my personal mental and spiritual growth, and I wanted to feel the spiritual awaking that's described in the 12 steps and see if helps me grow even further.  I've also just sort of always admired the sober AA community and camaraderie from a distance.  Would AA and the 12 steps even do anything more for me at this point at 20 months sober or would I be wasting everyone's time?

Or; They like making money and reject social equity promises because their world experience does not show this line of thinking to be realistic or attainable. We Cubans have lived the true side of socialist agendas and reject that bullshit for what it is. You will find this is the case with Central Americans, Mexicans and the rest of the Hispanics who have made their way here largely by working, and not working the system.
Side note; I am quite embarrassed that 44% of my fellow Texans continue to run some Irish kid who changes his name to Beto for political gain. You fuckers are less self aware than the nazis in BCS.

You don't even know what socialism is, but keep on fucking that boogeyman.

You thinking other places are different?

For a three-tender combo?  Yes.  Unless prices in Austin or wherever y'all are is double that of DFW.  $20 for fast food is unreal.  I can go to most sit-down restaurants and pay less than that.  I feel ripped off paying $10 for fast food at most places.

Shooter, are you sure you didn't actually get charged the wrong amount and legitimately ripped off?

  9. We somehow have more than one person in the same regional office who have the image icons for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. at the bottom of their signature as if to link to our company's social media pages.  Except you can't even click on them.  They're just images.  And they send this out to customers daily.

Stewart bombed hilariously on Apple.  Whatever he once was, has died.  His episode on how horrible white people are was probably the kill shot in his career.  You can't call him cringey because it's beyond that.

But the groomers and pedo supporters will still rally around him I'm sure.

I'm confused.  Maybe you can clarify.

Your first paragraph sounds like you're dismissing Jon Stewart, but your last sentence sounds like you are still rallying around him.

What is on Comedy Central now? Broad City is over, right? South Park?

It’s The Office reruns just about every time I flip by it.  I think they just switch between huge blocks of that and South Park.  I remember reading Tosh either ended recently or is ending, so other than South Park and TDS I’m hard pressed to think of any new originals they still create.

  12. I don't get the Chevy hate at all.  He was funny on this show.  Even if he didn't exactly get the show when he was on it or get along with Harmon, Pierce's character was great and the show suffered after he left.

I'll definitely watch this, but I hope they're doing it because they actually have a good, funny idea that adds to the overall experience of the show and aren't just doing it to fulfill some 10-year-old meme.  You could trim the last three seasons down to 1 season's worth of episodes that are actually worth watching.

Ok, for the times -  this half-assed situation that i think a lot of companies/employees are in where leadership really wants the drones to come in and sit at their desks but they either know they'll lose everyone or are just afraid of what will happen if they say that we're done with wfh.

First off, peeve number one - if leadership wants people in the building they should fucking sack up and say why. Have you seen a drop in productivity? Is there data that indicates that remote work is harming the company? "You just can't recreate face to face interaction on a Teams call" ok and what? That means almost nothing at all and should be a team level thing anyways. If you can't say why you want people at their desks it's probably bullshit.

But now we're in this weird fucking mode where people are trying to enforce X days a week in office but it's hit or miss and people are kinda doing their own thing and you have this increasingly mixed on-site/remote stuff that is worse than 100% remote. Drove in today for a feature planning meeting because as the organizer I suppose I should be there. Nobody else there, so I'm sitting in a small conference room running it on my shitty little laptop screen with the lights shutting off every 15 minutes instead of at my complete setup in my home office.

Damn, I forgot the most obvious one here.  Having to come back to the office at all.

Our company’s upper mgmt was going on about how we need to come back to make sure we’re all functioning better as a team.  Besides my direct boss, everyone I interact with is via email and is spread out in our regional offices around the country as well as on other continents.  It’s complete bullshit.  Then they go on about how they are going to bring us in food more and have more fun things go on around the office as if that’s going to make us happy to come back.  They are upgrading the office space to make it more relaxing and comfortable.  Hey, you where it’s relaxing and comfortable to do my job?  That place I don’t have to dress up and drive 45 minutes to every day — my office bedroom.

  14. People who ask for read receipts on their emails.  I’m always going to say no.

People who spell others’ names wrong in emails.  It’s lazy.  Everyone’s name is spelled out for you in their email address.  Stop being lazy.

People who plop down in the stall and shit right next to you.  There are four bathrooms accessible to our floor.  Find another one or come back in five.  I’ll be out in a few minutes.  Let me shit in peace.

Agreed and going along with this, if you schedule a weekly meeting for say 8am... start at 8am... don't wait for the serial offenders to show, don't care what their titles are.  If you don't plan to start until 8:15am... don't set the meeting for 8am, set it for 8:15am

Sure, fair point.  But also don’t start meetings at 8:00 am or the start of the day before I’ve had time to come in and check my email and get settled in.
