I was not aware of that incident.  Interesting CIA briefing released in 2006 indicates it was an accident (Israeli army mistook ship for an Egyptian freighter), and that the Liberty was closer to shore than it was supposed to be.  Other than conspiracy theories I couldn't find any hard evidence to suggest a different impression. https://theintercept.com/2017/06/06/fifty-years-later-nsa-keeps-details-of-israels-uss-liberty-attack-secret/

Regardless of whether it was intentional or accidental, how does that incident over 50 years ago apply to the current hostilities?

I have read every account by the survivors of that incident, and to a man, they all agree that the attack was deliberate, that the Liberty was in international waters, and that the US aided in the coverup.  Israel has never acknowledged that the attack was deliberate.  This is exactly indicative of how Israel views its relationship with the US.

    Just finished this:

A minute-by-minute account of a potential North Korean nuclear strike on the U.S., the subsequent response, and the aftermath. Pretty chilling to think about how quickly the world as we know it could end. This quote from Nikita Khrushchev stood out: "the living will envy the dead."

Seems to be well researched and entirely plausible.

That popped up in my amazon recommendations.  I guess I'll give it a try.

  3. My opinion, as worthless as it is:

Israel has a right to exist

Israel has a right to defend itself

Israel does not have the right to commit genocide

Disagreement with Israeli state policy does not equal antisemitism

Israel does not have the right to attack US military personnel without consequence

Israel does not have the right to conduct industrial, political, and military espionage against the US without consequences

Israel does not have the right to unlimited US foreign and military aid no matter what they do

Sounds like PWC will be joining Authur Andersen, but at least I never worked for PWC

  5. I had an Arabian (3/4 Arabian 1/4 Paint) gelding when I lived in Magnolia.  He was a smart fucker.  He knew how to open the gate to his pasture.  Every morning, when I went to sit on the back porch to drink my coffee, he would open his gate and come graze in the backyard next to me.  After that, I would take him back to his pasture and feed him.  When I moved back to Houston, he went to live with my niece, who jumped him in competition.  I finally sold him a couple of years ago.  Baladi Al Katir (my daughter called him Mr. Chips) was a good horse even though he threw me and busted up my shoulder.

I am going to be annoyed if Hartzell ends up resigning over this

He absolutely should have already, and I have let him know that is my opinion.

I know my opinion doesn't mean much, but I am on the Chancellor's Council, and if enough of us express that opinion it will have an effect

    People

I take Sebastian and my daughter's ugly chihuahua to the Tanglewood dog park every evening. There is a pretty good group of regulars who go. I tolerate the dog people, but I know every one of the regular dogs' names.  It's my happy place. I guess I just don't relate well to people. Is there a name for an elderly single gentleman who lives alone with a house full of dogs, because that's how I envision my old age.

  8. Jesus, that didn't look like it even came close to warranting a bunch of riot cops.  We had a worse protest my freshman year when they appointed Lorene Rogers as President and the administration just basically ignored it until everyone decided it was time to go have a beer

I rarely post anything on Facebook, and I mainly use it to keep up with relatives and real-life acquaintances that I don't see very often.  I have a number of people that constantly bombard me with MAGA Christian Nationalist shit, and I think this is a powerful message for them.  I'm thinking about posting it and seeing how many unfriend me.  Can you embed TikTok into Facebook?

interesting.  the whole thing is a clusterfuck.  bet that ump assumed it was reviewable and another ump told him it wasn't and then they did the ump scrum.  Is the rule a Big 12 conf rule or an NCAA baseball rule for reviews?
