  1. From what I’ve read, this Universal is going to be very kid-centric which is super on brand for Frisco as a WASPy family friendly place to raise young kids. It won’t be a trashy Arlington six flags (though no doubt this will bring petty crime increases) and it won’t be the cool teen/adult attractions like HP or Jurassic Park rides.

This will be great for the families in/around the area who don’t want to drive an hour Six Flags, will be a nothing burger for those without young kids, just like Great Wolf Lodge is.

In unrelated news, tolls on the Dallas north tollway are scheduled to increase shortly to speed up the construction to the Oklahoma border.

I got my year end AMEX report with the pie charts breaking down what I spent for the year.

If you want to be shocked, actually look into how much you spend on toll fees a year.

  3. I didn't see this article posted, so SIAP, but I thought it was an interesting read. Some of the more interesting tidbits:

    - For all our scorn and laughter, BK was actually not on the radar of anyone based on the white Hyundai, cell phone pings, proximity, or anything from an old fashioned, traditional detective work practice. Even after querying the white Hyundais and getting 8500 back, he still wasn't on the radar.

    - It was 100% the DNA/geneology that cracked it open and then everything else fell into place and got investigated.

    https://slate.com/technology/2023/01/bryan-kohberger-university-idaho-murders-forensic-genealogy.html

    Spoiler

They could have eventually caught him via brute force detective work maybe, but the DNA seems to be the thread that unraveled it all:

Hyundai Elantras are among the best-selling compact cars in America. White is among the most common car colors. And so it is not surprising that, within 24 hours of requesting tips about white Hyundai Elantras on its Facebook page on Dec. 7, the Moscow Police Department had received so many that it had to devise a new system for accepting them. By Dec. 27, the agency had a list of 22,000 white Elantras.

One of the ways investigators whittled down the vehicles’ owners was by looking for associated mobile phones that pinged cell towers near the crime scene around the time of the murder. Kohberger failed to stand out in that way, according to the affidavit.

“A query of the 8458 Phone in these returns did not show the 8458 Phone utilizing cellular tower resources in close proximity to the King Road Residence between 3:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m.,” Brett Payne, Moscow Police Department’s lead investigator, wrote, referring to Kohberger’s phone.

What this likely meant was that there was no immediate reason to prioritize Kohberger over other Elantra owners. On Dec. 23, three weeks after Kohberger’s Elantra first made the list, Payne applied for a search warrant for records of Kohberger’s phone activity between Nov. 12 and 14. The results helped convince Payne that Kohberger was the Elantra owner he was looking for after all.

Frisco’ s new motto: “We’re the new Arlington, but prettier”

At first I was like, "I hope it's Dude Perfect World being announced"

Then I was like, "Oh okay, Universal Studios seems cool and don't have to fly to Florida as much for vacations to Disney/US, etc."

Then I was like, "Traffic is already horrible"

I feel like there are going to be a lot of people who traverse DNT from El Dorado to 380 who are going to wish people would stay in Arlington:

If this is what he actually sent out, he has a bit of an issue using parenthetical notation.
see 1) third bullet under Goldman Sachs section

and 2) bachelors notation of suny

theres also a couple of bullets that are two independent ideas with not punctuation separating them, but a capitalized word to differentiate them under the metglobal section.

The most egregious thing, even more than claiming to be top 1%, is the utter disdain and insulting of our intelligence to think anyone would think that you could work at Goldman coming from a non-target, much less a CUNY. It's like he never even researched the high finance and banking industry at all, yet lied through his teeth about it.

I can't imagine he wasn't sniffed out by most discerning New Yorkers in Manhattan and in the FiDi, which is why he spent his time on Long Island, I guess.

Al Franken was forced to resign for posing for a stupid photo years ago.  Matt Gaetz is allowed to continue to stay around and fuck things up even while he's under investigation for sex trafficking.  Santos lied about every single fucking thing on his resume, took money from foreigners etc...   and will get to hang around.

All he did was pose for a stupid photo, is where the revisionist history and whitewashing has found this, in 2023?

To the point, Santos is an idiot and should resign but he’s clearly shameless. He is a drop out who claimed he was top 1% of his class. That’s not even clever or smart dishonesty. It’s pathological.

One of my kids goes to Pine Cove and loves it.  It’s very popular among his peers at school and quite a few other families we know.  It’s a Christian deal and we aren’t Christian but the boy has a good time anyway and always comes home with new friends. We chalk the Bible study up as a lesson in having an open mind and being willing to learn about others beliefs.  From what I gather they aren’t too obnoxious about it.  Other than that it’s your typical summer camp with lots of lake swimming and all kinds of outdoor activities.

One campus near Tyler and another near Columbus.

    That's mighty white of you.

  8. That's what we do too, it's just a lot at the end of a 12 hour day or whatever with small kiddos.

Anyways, I was hoping the announcement was going to be that Frisco was building the Dude Perfect theme park, because my kids would prefer that over Disney these days, but Universal Studios works!

I don't quite agree. No doubt, if he has the Rivian, his time is more than the $200 that he will get out of you, so if he's a spiteful MFer, spite him right back.

Presuming there was no damage to your vehicle, and there is a police report on file, before I pay it I would either (i) ensure that, because you only want to use the most trustworthy provider, you will only pay for provided it goes to a reputable body shop that reports to CarFax and AutoCheck or (ii) report it to your insurance, so he has to take it to an insurance-approved body shop (which probably reports), but just rescind the claim and pay out of pocket when the deductible issue comes up because it will likely be less than your deductible, so your premium doesn't go up depending on how insurance works in your state.

The goal here is to diminish the value of his vehicle in the future by having an "accident" on record with CarFax/Autocheck, no matter how minor it is in reality.

I don't think this guy cares and your efforts in spite are akin to you drinking the poison yet hoping he dies, because in the OP's story, the Rivian owner already tried to file it against insurance but Homer had just changed policies and the insurance information Rivian owner had was outdated.

is there an article about people who don't like award shows but still click on award show threads to confirm that they didn't miss anything of consequence?

Probably a tweet, but doubt any long form journalism.

Gotta stay yuck-culturally relevant with a small talk topic or two for eclectic crowds when you spend as much time in Calabasas as I do.

Just typing this up is giving me PTSD from our annual Disney trips and I've gotten to where I hate going to Disney. I'm going to put my foot down and it's Universal Studios or nothing this year.

Awesome, won't have to go far:

Frisco’s latest development project will bring a huge cast of superheroes, television stars and motion picture greats to Collin County.

Universal Parks & Resorts — the theme park arm of entertainment giant NBCUniversal — has bought a site on the Dallas North Tollway for a new theme park.

Yeah man, I know it wasn't your words and thoughts, regardless of me saying "you've."

She barely won last time, and I'm pretty sure she didn't feel great about her shot at winning in 2 years from now, hence her trying to make the move.

I'm not going to waste my time worrying about house seats that are a bulwark against R's, when Gerrymandering and D's fucking up their Gerrymandering are a much larger threat than one seat in Cali. But particularly in this instance where Porter truly is a rare and amazing rep, and honestly we want and need her on a bigger stage than a hosue seat in southern california. We need her in the Senate, or as Speaker. One of those things is guaranteed not to happen, so....

I think most people on this site agree with you on that.

What I'm curious to see play out is if the people of California believe that in the modern world of "representation matters".

I don't know how it will play out, but I do wonder if not being an underrepresented minority will discount or disqualify her from her/your goals (of which she is optimized for) due to it being the "our time" for non-white representation especially in the left of center to far left areas of the big tent. Essentially the same headwinds that another wunderkind and uber-talent like Mayor Pete will face to achieve his ambitions.
