I've come to the conclusion that the GQP is 50% true believers and 50% grifters. Half of the latter end up becoming the former, but still maintain their grift status. I think MTG is one of these. Also, isn't she divorced now? Isn't she MT or MG now? I don't care to look up which was her maiden name
Huh. I never really thought about it as 'initials'.
It was always 'multiple toes? gross' in my head

I don't waste time sharpening knives. Instead, I enter a sales contest once a year and sandbag just enough not to win first.
Careful, though... miscalculate and end up third and you're fired.

I’m offended by the corruption of the pledge by the insertion of the words “under god.” It’s more meaningful without them and I don’t recognize them. I think they should be officially removed. “One nation indivisible” is a more powerful expression and it looks to me like there a lot of Americans who could use a reminder. I think some might forget how recently the change was made.
I'd be ok with a compromise on the 'one nation' part... You wanna be 'under' something?

"Dr. Question" was the worst off brand beverage my broke-ass family would have at picnics.
"More like 'Dr. Questioning your life choices', amIrite?"- 16 year old me, immediately preceding a slap to the back of my head.

I only practice in one jurisdiction, but I've never known Law enforcement to actually weigh and measure the defendants when booked. I've been wondering all week why Georgia was different, but I guess the internet was just wrong again.
I've been expecting something like this:

That the failures of history curriculums in public schools, which were instigated by so called Christians, can be avoided, generally speaking, at Christian schools. I say this knowing there are many Christian denominations that aren’t burdened by the idiocy that underscores removing actual history from history classes. I have no doubt the best Christian private schools teach actual history. I was thinking about the wackadoodle private schools that are springing up like weeds, and, you know, brush width, after reading this:
”I can think of another example of a disparity in education between private and public schools, in this case specifically relgious schools:”
This is a great bit of clarification/thing to remember... There are a lot of religious private schools in the country that do a great job teaching a well rounded and rigorous curriculum. Specifically, I'm thinking of the long legacy that Catholic high schools have had in our country, as well as the Jewish and Islamic schools that are foundational and well respected in their communities.
But, as you said, those ain't the "Sacred Sons of Onan Academy" that just opened up in the abandoned Blockbuster.

In terms of going from “belief” to “knowledge,” yeah it’s bullshit. You don’t acquire knowledge simply by “believing hard enough” as some theists contend. Knowledge has to do with facts, and facts are defined as points of data that are exclusively indicative of or concordant with one particular explanation above all others. That has shit to do with confidence.
Along those lines, found this book both helpful and challenging: The Sin Of Certainty

Dipshits still haven't figured out this was hacked, or just don't care. Or can't do anything about it I guess. I should send this to all my magat relatives.
Perhaps it was a troll/ruse all along... ran it with the MAGA information for just long enough to then make the heel turn hilarious.

Finally, I think the biggest driver of cost of education has simply been underfunding by state governments, especially in Texas.
Texas withdrew support from state universities and then camouflaged that fact by deregulating tuition, which universities had been clamoring for, anyway.
Add into that the availability of student loans so demand remains inelastic, and off we go.
I can't speak for Texas, but I will say that the "administrative bloat" that many talk about is also a factor (and I'm speaking as an administrator). However, that 'bloat', in many situations, comes in response to new expectations and regulations from the state/federal level- all good programs/policies/practices, but additional responsibilities with the same or reduced funding leads to the budget issues highlighted here.
