A lot of the rednecks in eastern Washington/Oregon are the same people who used to be east Texans dragging black people to death. A bunch of the most hardcore southern racists began moving to the PNW 20+ years ago because they saw it as their last redoubt. They even came up with a fancy name for it most of them probably can’t even pronounce: the northwest territorial imperative.

My wife’s family (not MAGA in the least) has a lake house in rural WA. Most MAGA place I’ve ever been. We went up for the 4th two summers ago. MAGA flags everywhere. On every house, on every boat, on every business, on every truck. I saw more confederate flags than I’ve ever seen in Texas. The local small town was having a berry festival complete with a civil war reenactment. Guess which side the locals were cheering for? After that, we decided no more visits on holiday weekends.

And to think that the "Sooper MAGA" folks in northern Idaho are the ones who moved there because eastern Washington was too liberal.

So I’m trying out YTTV via both Roku and LGTV. The remotes and navigation is a bit awkward as compared to Uverse. I have a dumb question. With Uverse, because the channels are numbered, if I want to go to a high numbered channel that is far down the list I just type in the channel nimber. Since YTTV doesn’t have channel numbers, is there no way to quickly go to a channel way down the list of channels in one step, like I can with Uverse?

Not really sure--- but with YTTV you can set the channels in the order you like (I've got sports, news, movies, local each clustered together). So you might be able to avoid jumping altogether (if you have some regular/predictable 'jumps').

This feature is also a GODSEND for working with older parents- I just sat down with the in-laws to set up their TV for the 25 channels they use most, and no longer need to keep answering the phone to try to troubleshoot from 500 miles away.

  3. This is just perfect... of course they did:

Grand Tour stars committed ‘international crime’ without realising in final episode

    Quote

“One of the bits of the story that’s disappeared, which will make this not make sense, is that we discovered that in Zimbabwe you can buy silver for pennies, really surprisingly cheap.

“So we decided to buy a lot of it and use it to fashion accessories for our cars. Then when we got to the border with Botswana, we thought, ‘Oh, sh*t, we’ve got all this silver’.”

Hammond chipped in: “We weren’t supposed to have it”.

“So we had to get across into Botswana without anybody noticing that we’ve got quite a lot of silver about our person,” Clarkson continued.

“You smuggled silver, huge amounts of it into Botswana,” Mariella Frostrup, who hosted the event interjected as she called the trio “perhaps the world’s dumbest criminals.”

These people are not undecided.  Period.

They're either attention whores and Trump voters who lie bout being undecided so they can suck off their Orange God on TV.

They're undecided about how they plan to milk their 15 minutes of 'fame'. Most others are only undecided about how they're going to rationalize voting for Trump and if they're going to tell anyone what they did.

She started in the music business as a teenager, and has worked her ass off for 20 years to get where she is...she writes her own music, writes and directs her own videos (as she's gotten older), and shes fought back against unfairness in the music industry.

    Oh! That totally explains it!!!

Japan refused to debate the US a second time during WWII.

Well, there was the first debate "Hmmm...would you like to surrender?", and then the second debate "Hiroshima's gone... NOW would you like to surrender?", but they acquiesced rather than having a third one.

Earliest I saw Metallica was 1988 for the Monsters of Rock tour. I was right up front in Rice Stadium, getting blasted with the firehose since it was pretty much as hot as the surface of the sun when Metallica was playing. IIRC Metallica was fourth on the bill of five bands, going on right before Dokken if you can believe it. Scorps and Van Hagar cleaned up that night, which was critical since there was a massive stadium-wide trash fight right after the Houston afternoon rain shower that made that place a stinking rain-soaked trash heap.

Seeing them open for Ozzy (or Raven FFS) is pretty damn legit. Kudos.

Saw the same tour in Indianapolis...

  7. Really fun show...

Why wouldn't Vaughan get a shot at a Fletch movie? His signature delivery and attitude seem perfect for the role (and the Chevy Chase interpretation of the character)
