Did Cannon have an open header and instead opt to lay it off?
OK, I admit it wasn't entirely open as the keeper was in position, but ... still ... odd choice with no defender.

You can count the 4th that he scored using his face but that wasn’t on purpose.
As unintentionally hilarious as the moment was, I feel like it should count double.

Rest.
I missed pre-game so I don't know if this answer is earnest. Resting Pulisic and a 70-year-old Bradley makes sense, but Zardes?
-
Also, if the future of USA soccer is the likes of Baird, Lovitz, Trapp, Roldan, Mihailovic, et al., then we might as well leave the sunglasses at the store.

Question:
You have a striker in Zardes who, albeit limited, works hard and is full of confidence after scoring four goals in two matches, so why the fuck is a no-account loafer like Altidore playing in his stead?

For my fellow members of the PC master race, the Steam Summer Sale is underway.
Shop 'til you drop, gents, just know that you'll never have the time to play and finish everything you buy.

Great to see everyone out riding!
Spent the last week visiting the parents in San Antonio. This past Sunday, a Shag/Surly member was kind enough to wake up well before the crack of dawn and drive all the way down from Austin so we could ride at Government Canyon, which is less than 10 miles from where my parents live. He even brought an extra bike and helmet that I could stankify.
I repaid his generosity by showing up 30 minutes late and not bringing any beer. Naturally.
Once we hit the trails, it immediately became obvious to me that he had given himself every advantage. After all, what is better on technical terrain than a single-speeder? And who needs suspension for rocks? Yet he kept the single-speed hardtail with 80mm of travel for himself and stuck me with a plush 1x Kona Process with over 6 inches of movement front and back.
Fortunately, he realized his mistake after we had labored up some two miles of what seemed like an endless series of steps and traps. Once the bungie cord was attached, however, I found myself having little trouble keeping up, although I still perceived an occasional advantage in his favor. I negated these with an expert dab of the brakes.
By the time we had completed our circuit, I was feeling so refreshed, I suggested another lap. He responded that he needed to get home in time for his children's graduation. I congratulated him for their achievement, but he pointed out that they were still in middle school. The slight seemed unjust.
Seriously, I had a wonderful (yet humbling) day. Not only was it a first riding trail in Texas, it was a first meeting someone from Shag/Surly. I'll leave it up to him to "out" himself, but if the opportunity to ride with him arises, definitely take it as he is good company and a great host.
Just try to show up on time ... and maybe buy beer the night before.
Also--and perhaps most importantly--we managed not to destroy our derailleurs in the caliche dirt.

Argy back line seems terribly slow.

Yes.

What a shitshow.
It's farce at this point.

One addendum to the subject of wider bars:
True, they give you more leverage and fine control. However, they also give anything you hit more leverage.
Glad you weren't too dinged up, Al. Getting dumped on a gate or unseen branch is something every rider experiences.

Anyone have a good tip about getting more comfortable with tight tree passages?
Stare through the gap rather than at the gap. In some cases, you might need/be able to get one end of the bars through the gap before the other end. Guys who can manual are really good at this, but that's a skillset I lack.
Wider bars are vogue, and they are definitely superior to the 580 mm narrow bars of yesteryear, but I'm with Twice in that you can have too much of a good thing, so go with what is comfortable for you.
For me, 700 mm-720 mm was the most natural, but a set of carbon bars I purchased three years ago were 740 mm. I clipped my share of trees making the transition, but I didn't want to cut them down, so that is now the standard for both of my bikes. I absolutely will not be going any wider.

Surly seems to tolerate imgbb relatively well.

It's El Gusano, man. Get it right.

Right on. A good wrench is one of life's simple pleasures, like an honest plumber or electrician.
Water crossings are fine. Water in general is OK, just don't force it in there (like a pressure washer or the nozzle from your garden hose).
-
To pull old-fashioned Hollowtech II Shimano cranks, you just need a 5mm allen key/wrench to tighten/loosen the pinch bolts on the non-drive side.
The Park BB tool I linked above is a multi-tasker. In addition to using one end to loosen the cups, the other end has a rubber dial that you use to tighten or remove the pre-load nut or whatever it's called (only hand tighten this!).
Performance doesn't have the best reputation, so it's possible your BB blew up because it wasn't installed correctly (too much pre-load, not enough pre-load, not enough grease, etc.). Or maybe you did something naughty to it. Or it could just be bad luck/defective.
-
If you're already familiar with pulling cranks (and have the appropriate tools), I'd strongly recommend watching some YouTube videos and learning to do your own wrenching, especially once your general warranty has expired.
Bike shop mechanics know more than I ever will, and they are infinitely faster and more efficient, but too many of them cut corners to get the bike out so they can get the next one in.

Tony deserves more love. True, Timmeh and Manu are closer to my heart, but can't think of one without the other two coming to mind.
Fuck, man. Sad day. We were spoiled to have them for so long, yet it still went too fast.

Bottom brackets are definitely wear-and-tear items, but unless you've put 5K-10K miles on yours, it shouldn't be blowing up after just one year. Properly installed, greased, protected, cared for etc., you should get several years out of it (much like a cassette).
Is the BB on your bike press fit or threaded with external cups? If it's the latter, and assuming they are the 68mm-73mm English standard, my suggestion would save yourself some money and buy one of these:
https://www.amazon.com/Shimano-Alivio-Mountain-Bicycle-Bracket/dp/B00OMDQI1G/
Or if you feel like splurging or just prefer black:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00YMGQ4JY/
And then this tool or one of its cheap Chinese clones:
https://www.amazon.com/Park-Tool-BBT-9-Bottom-Bracket/dp/B000C12BMW/
My squishy has a PF BB; my hardtail has an English threaded. I despise PF bottom brackets and will avoid buying a frame with one in the future.
I'd also ask some questions to make sure the bearings on the existing BB are shot/going before replacing (versus just needing to be removed and cleaned), but this is turning into a fricken Wiki entry so I'll shaddap.

Those look like some expensive repairs, Hacker. Hard to find a good mechanic on the road.

Losing sucks, but was very impressed with Ecuador's organization and composure once it got the second goal.
