  1. For a brief moment, I was tempted to register "KevinFuckinMorgan," but then I realized that I'd either be negged to Bolivia or at least 20 other people had already done the same, so I just went with ol' Braff.

Gat damn this thread has me hungry now. Think the wife and I are going to do some Easter gumbo.

     Gumbo for Easter???

Yes. Yes. Hell the fuck yes.

    This man is a genius.

They’re only open Thursday-Sunday. Open at 11. I’d try to get there before noon on the weekends because even though San Antonio isn’t a wait in line sort of town 2M gets a line going. When the sell out of something it’s gone until they have more, and I’ve seen them sell out of brisket somewhat early. Their sauce is a sweet molasses base without any heat or tomato flavor, so it’s unique but you don’t need a lot of it. Good BBQ is good without sauce anyways, but I’ve seen people thrown off by 2M’s sauce. And if you want bread you gotta pay for their tortillas, but they’re worth it because they’re fresh made and dope as hell.

I just looked them up and damn, they are clear on the other side of town from where I'll be. Is there any worthy Q in the Leon Springs area?

If any of you answer Bill Miller or Dickey's, I will cut you.

  4. That's a crazy good bargain. Wish Wally World sold them for that price here.

Champ, since you smoke about a million briskets a year, you seem like the ideal person to ask for this: do you notice much difference between Choice and Prime? I have not, but I smoke a half dozen or so a year, so ...

Honestly every potential prospect who hasnt declared ought to by their junior year.  Gives you a head start on how the combine works and also gives you feedback on what you need to work on going into your final year. It's a no lose situation.

    Agree with you and Mach.

On the flipside, however, Roach's shortcomings are obvious; it shouldn't require league professionals to point them out.

I find it hard to believe they dont run much?  Just one of those things that has been a goal and would like to accomplish it.  Everything I have read says it is hard to do, but there are plenty people doing it and it seems those that do, enjoy it.

I guess it depends on your definition of run. They take off in one direction, but they just chug along. Their endurance is good, but it's just a long, boring fight, imo.

They are leery and convincing them to take can be a challenge. And, yes, there are many who love carping on the fly and prefer it to trout.

Full disclosure, I'm not a very good fly fisherman, and I despise carp with the intensity of a hypergiant about to supernova.

  7. I'll be visiting the Lone Star State for a couple of weeks in late April/early May. Most of my time will be with family, but if one of you saltwater specialists offered to take this landlubber on the flats for some specks or reds, I'd be eternally grateful.

Bassin' is always fun, too. Cue the carp invites after my previous post. ¬¬

  8. Crawfish patterns do really well for carp. Something you can drag/twitch on the bottom.

Carp are extremely intelligent and get absolutely massive, but I've never understood the appeal. They don't breach or run or anything that should surprise you. They're just big, heavy, and they chug around like a diesel truck. /shrug

  9. If you're a shoo-in to be drafted, the only reasons to stay in school are:

    • improve your draft stock for the following year and thus earn a fatter contract or
    • you love the college life and realize--with apologies to Frank the Tank--it ain't gonna come around again.

Not sure if  Zhaire is lottery material, but it's conceivable that he could crack the top half of the first round with a super sophomore season. Dude's a stud.

Just went over there and there are a few people still posting in CR like nothing ever happened, even though people have basically nuked the threads.

Makes me think CR was the only forum they ever posted in and the only thing they were doing was logging in to yell at other people without reading anything else.  Sounds about right.

Spent seven-ish years on the Shag and am happy to report that I never once posted in that subforum. Never understood the appeal. Some people just must like to argue.

Having a hard time getting excited for the game. Damnit this feeling sucks so much

Aye, the most popular sporting event in the world is going down this summer and we're not involved. That fact is always looming overhead no matter who plays, how well they play, and whatever else happens this year.

She took two bites, threw the rest on the passenger seat and kept driving. “It was stale, greasy, spicy, crunchy, saucy and just plain strange,” said Ms. Johnson, a 43-year-old director of operations at an advertising agency in Cincinnati and author of a blog called the Food Hussy. “Who puts a slice of American cheese in a taco?”

Two minutes later, she picked the taco off the seat and finished it. Then she ate the other one.

“I was like, ‘I must have more. This is vile and amazing,’” she said.

This was hilarious because I reacted the same way the first time I tried them. Don't know what they are--they're not tacos--but they're addictive as hell and they're freakin' fantastic after midnight.
