  1. He won't, but it's gonna take 40 pitches to get through the first.  He's gonna be at 100 pitches by no later than the 4th if that.  Gonna be a position player pitching game.  I remember when they made the other team do that.

  2. We got really lucky in Mason.  Mostly clear and got to see all of totality.  10 minutes after it clouded up and we only got occasional glimpses going the other way.  So glad we stuck it out and went.  Traffic getting home was real shitty, but still worth it.  We saw stars during totality which was badass.

  3. Hook, Line and Sitka.  My first choice was Sea Roamer Charters because they have a really good rep, but they were booked up for all of 2024 already.  They recommended Hook, Line and Sitka so I went with them because I figured anyone they sent me to would be good.

  4. Williams is gonna be getting  starting grid penalties for going over their allotment of replacement parts before we get to double digit races at this pace.

Losing draft picks because you sign a FA may be the dumbest thing in baseball, and that's saying something.  I get it was put in specifically for the Yankees back when they would just do whatever they want.  But with a multi-tier tax it's completely dumb.  Compensatory picks are fine and make some sense, losing draft picks is stupid

And the Dodgers are doing the same thing the Yankees did anyway, so it's not deterring the teams it was meant to.

  6. Maton, Neris, Montero and Stanek have all been good at points in their careers, so you can reasonably expect at least 1 or 2 of them to be pitching well at any given time.  When those names are Montero, Bielak, Mushinski and Martinez, I get nervous.  I'm still trying to wrap my head around watching Mushinski come in to pitch in close games.

    Huh?

name one team that feels comfortable with their bullpen outside of their 3 backend guys. Very few teams are comfortable with even that.

you think the Rangers enjoyed trotting Smith, Sborz, Chapman, LeClerc out there in the playoffs as often as they did?

I’ll give you injuries happen and am a believer in “you can never have enough pitching” but out of the names Snake Diggity mentioned, I’d go in to the playoffs with that pen all day and guessing most if not all of the other 29 teams would as well

You guys keep talking about the playoffs and that's not what I'm worried about.  The season is long and you can't get through it with 3 guys you trust.  They will get run in to the ground.  You need guys who can eat up appearances without shitting all over themselves.

Which RP doesn’t belong on a playoff roster, assuming a rotation of Framber/JV/Javier/Brown:

    Hader

    Pressly

    Abreu

    Montero

    Garcia (when healthy-June)

    McCullers (when healthy-Aug)

    Blanco

    France

    Urquidy

And thats assuming Arrighetti and no other pitching prospects emerge.  Unless somebody gets hurt (which is very likely), their staff will be stacked.  They may go out and add a RP but it’ll be a luxury.

The only spot I’m worried about on Houston’s roster is 1B.  If Abreu doesn’t come back to life they will need to do something.  If the Marlins sell they have 3 guys who could fit the bill in varying ways; Arraez would be a huge add, Burger would be a sleeper add, Bell would be a Mancini type add.

You counted McCullers.  Never count LMJ.  The extra relievers are as much or more for the 2nd half of the season as they are the playoffs.  In the current bullpen, I don't feel comfortable with any of the options outside of the 3 backend guys coming in to close games.  That's not ideal.
